I saw the girl again at school. Her eyes held such a sadness to them that my heart nearly broke for her. No one deserved that kind of pain. No one.
Maybe it was time for me to make a friend. Her name was Delanie, but her and I were two different people. Her friends no longer mattered. It was time for me to sculpt my own future, and possibly a brighter one.
Deli was depressed, but I was determined to make a difference. No one would stomp on me anymore. So, I ambled up to the girl's side, plastering a smile on my face.
"Hey," I started.
She jumped, halting in her tracks. "Oh, um, hello." Her eyes widened in recognition. "You were at the party."
I nodded. "Yeah, I was. And so were you." I let out a small laugh and held my hand out for her to shake. "I'm Delanie."
Her eyes widened even more, if that was possible. "You're the girl who lost her memory."
"Don't forget the fact that I got hit by a car."
She gingerly took my hand and shook it. "I'm Fiona. It's nice to meet you." A smile attempted to spread across her visage, and that caused my own smile to become genuine.
