Chapter 53- Your Life Is A Lie

Welcome to The Head. Have a nice day. The voice from the elevator announced. The doors swooshed open.

"Shut down all other entrances and the elevator," Casper ordered. There was a loud buzz. "Step out now."

Eve didn't want to get hit so she did as he told her. The elevator doors closed, and Eve felt her stomach churn. He pulled her hair once more and led her through the place. She looked up at the walls which were blue. The lights went on and off. He stopped at a door and touched the speaker.

"I got her." he shoved Eve in front of the door.

A deep voice chuckled, "Good job Logan. I'm pleased at how long you can keep cover. Leave the girl to me for a while and join Piper in the cells," the door creaked.

"Yes Master." Casper kicked Eve in. He turned and left her on the ground.

A figure sat at a large wood desk. Warmth came from an eerie fire in the corner. His voice came again, "Sit, please."

Eve steadied herself and slumped down in a chair shivering. Her voice in a terrible stutter, "w-hat do y-you want-t."

He leaned in closer to her. His face was now exposed in the light of the fire. His toffee skin and dark hair that was slicked back. "Oh don't play dumb with me child. You know exactly what I want." His eyes went down, and Eve followed them to her necklace.

"I'm not letting you have them. You will only hurt them." Eve cried.

He snickered, "They aren't human Eve. They aren't real. Don't tell me you actual care about them." He looked towards Eve only to find a dead serious expression. He laughed harder now.

"You just want power. I bet you don't even care about C- Logan or Piper!" Eve screamed angrily.

He grabbed her throat tightly. "Be careful as to your choice of words. I'm not afraid to hurt you Saguaro."

"Don't call me that," she coughed. He threw her head back and let go.

"Oh where are my manners. I know your name, but I haven't given you mine. I'm Blaine Gull Herring," he took Eve's hand and laid a small peck on it. She yanked her hand back in disgust.

"We have lot's to discuss." He smiled

In the Cells
Piper couldn't help but notice the hazy gaze Casper had on his face. She scooted closer to him, "What's wrong Logan? Didn't Master complement you. He doesn't do that very often."

"Yeah he did," Casper turned towards her, "It's something else."

Piper grabbed his hand, "I'm here. You can talk to me."

"I just- don't you feel bad Piper. I mean why are we doing this."

She laughed, "What do you mean silly? We are doing this because we know that that necklace is dangerous and only the true holder can contain the power."

"I know but I'm still so lost." He sighed.

"Don't be, the Master knows what he's doing,"

"Then why won't he tell us," Casper questioned.

"Logan there are some things you can't know. Trust him." Piper defended

Casper shook his head, "We are so close to ending it. Why can't I know."

Piper looked down, "There's something I've wanted to tell you. Maybe it will help you understand."

Casper looked with questioning eyes, "I'm the chosen one," Piper blurted out.

"What?"

"It's true. I was looking through the old man's files, Mr. Pine Tree had a note. I'm the chosen one," she said with pride.

"No, Piper this is crazy. I got to go. I need some air," Casper shot up.

"But-" she yanked him back. "Don't go."

"Get off me." He pulled his hand back. "Stop acting like we are together."

"You like Bailee don't you! Is she the reason why you don't come by as often! Logan you can't be serious."

"So what! She's a lot more fun then you are!" He yelled before stomping out the room

"I love you!" Piper whimpered

At the same moment, Matt panicked. He didn't know where he was or what he was doing. The last thing he remembered was meeting his new roommate and tiny cuts in between. There were people around him. A dog nudged his arm. "Eve, right?" He got up and dusted his pants. Hula showed him to where David had been shot. Matt ripped the dart off him. "Dang it. I have no solution for this." He tore off his sleeve and tried to suck up the poison. He did this with all of them.

"Need help," A man asked. A red haired lady stood beside him. "Matt are you okay?"

"Who are you? My mind is foggy sir."

The two adults looked at each other with concern. The lady pulled out a bottle, "I'm miss Phoenix, Matt. I'm afraid you have been controlled. We'll talk about the details later. We need to get these kids to move."

"I'm Mr. Woods. I escaped in the nick of time. Not sure if it was the right option, but I was able to find this lady who might be able to help us."

"You say that like you don't know me Woods," she smiled

Matt looked at them dazed. He remembered his partners face as he pulled her into the elevator. The fear in her face was scary. He wanted to grab her and never let go. To tell her it was all okay. It was too late now. The doors closed in his face. Later they wouldn't open for him. Matt was stuck with complete strangers, a dog, and his own mind.

Bailee sat up coughing terribly. Blood trickled from her nose, she rasped, "I'm going to kill somebody."

"Wait till you get up there," Raven grumbled flopping over on her side coughing. Amber coughed and lay still. David grabbed Hula and cleared his throat.

"Everyone sit and rest. It will take a few minutes before the medicine can clear the poison from your bodies."

Neptune walked in holding a red jewel piece, "Scarlet looks adorable in this form."

Miss Phoenix pulled her gun, but Mr. Woods tapped her shoulder to show her that it was okay. Neptune gave them a sheepish smile. "I didn't mean to scare you guys. I'm sorry. I always do that."

"No. You're fine." Matt said half looking at the elevator half nodding his head.

Mr. Woods walked next to him, "Got a plan."

Matt turned and exclaimed, "You bet I do."

"Hey where did Scarlet go. She was just here." Neptune questioned looking at his empty hands. Mr. Woods knew exactly where it was. Eve had herself a new piece.

In Eve's mind it was a mess. Ivy ran around with healing herbs. Zephyr tried to keep her mind clear. To top it all off, Scarlet puffed into the mess.

"Ugh, not again," she huffed, "Its no fun in here!"

"Scarlet," both Ivy and Zephyr shouted with joy, "We missed you."

"I can tell. You guys are so clueless without me. What are you guys even doing running around like a bunch of ants?"

Zephyr looked down at his feet and went back to working. Scarlet looked more puzzled that the boy didn't want to say anything. "Spill."

"She's coming."

"Who?" Scarlet was getting more annoyed the less she knew.

"The evil one."

"Oh your little theory. Get it through your thick skull. There's one chosen one. ONE."

Ivy felt her face heat up, "You only think that because they use you the most. You were never there to see it Scarlet. You are the first to turn."

"Turn?"

"....turn evil."

Eve looked into Blaine's eyes. They were dark, black even. He smiled at her with mocking white teeth.

"Eve I'm about to tell you things you aren't going to believe. They are true however you see it."

Eve showed no expression. She was more focused on getting out of here. She looked at Blaine for weak spots, and around the room for possible escape plans. "I'd rather listen to Piper sing a love song on repeat."

He bit his bottom lip to hold back the urge to slap her. Instead he continued, "Have you ever noticed how different you looked from you family? Your mom's sudden urge to change you? To make you fit in with the other girls?"

"We all have brown hair, same eyes." Eve sounded uninterested. The thing was she always felt that way. His assumption on her mom was too close for comfort.

"Didn't you ever feel like she was trying to make you part of them? Did it not feel like she was trying to change who you were, because I have a feeling she knew exactly who you were?" He seemed to be sucking the life out of her with is black holes he called eyes.

"What are you saying."

He laughed, "Isn't it obvious? You aren't part of them. You don't fit in. You aren't one of them. Eve your mom isn't your real mom. Your siblings aren't your siblings."

Eve shook her head. She wanted so bad for it to be a lie. She looked like them. She was their daughter. She had brown hair. They had baby pictures. Deep inside somewhere she knew it was true, but she didn't admit it. She always assumed it was just a feeling.

"Did David ever tell you? He did find you." Blaine's voice filled her head.

Tears rolled down her face. Her voice cracked, "There's no way. I would have known. My last name is Saguaro."

"Its called adoption sweetie. You remember Piper right. What a lovely girl she is. Looks a lot like the girl sitting in front of me." Blaine handed her pictures of a girl with blonde hair, and to the side a picture of her when she was about five. They looked completely different. "What is this? What are you trying to tell me."

"Look closer Eve don't be a fool." She did. Then it hit her. Their faces were perfect matches. The nose, the mouth, the eye shape, the plump face, Piper had everything Eve had. Yet they looked nothing alike with hair color, eye color, skin color too.

"W-what" Eve gasped for air, but the world around her spun and spun.

"Meet your twin Piper."

"No. We look nothing alike." Eve protested. It made no sense.

"You remember Bailee's mother- or should I say your mother."

"WHAT"

"Shut up. I'm trying to explain. Emily Woods gave birth to not just to Bailee. She had a set of twins. Little did she know of the magical descendants she had. I needed you and Piper. But she wouldn't give you to me. She told me she had a failed birth. It wasn't until I found a child who had very, very real dreams-" Eve knew of her dreams she had on the usual nights, "that I soon realized I was lied to. Logan did anything to help me. He looked up to me. Well he had too much to lose if he didn't. If he didn't do the dirty deed-" Eve could almost here Bailee's mom's scream. She could here the running footsteps of Bailee. The door slamming open. The tears rolling down Bailee's face. Her sisters face. Her older sisters face. Soon Eve was crying.

"I need you Eve. So stop fighting it. I've needed you since the beginning. After tonight, you won't live to see your fake family, your real one, your friends, anybody. I'm ending you and that bloody curse for good. I'll show Phoenix what she missed. I'll show everyone what good of a hunter I am. And there is nothing you and your powers can do about it." He was whispering now. He could her Eve's heavy breathing and tears. He enjoyed every moment. "I think you should thank me for telling you. You needed to know."

Eve said nothing. Her eyes burned. Her hair stuck to her salty cheeks. The last thing she wanted to do was say thank you. Blaine's firm hand lifted her chin. "Say thank you."

She bit his hand. He pulled back and chuckled, "Women they never learn the first time." He punched Eve, and her mind went dark.
