Chapter 42- Lost n' Found
Neptune was loosing hope in finding Zephyr. He'd walked around and around but still couldn't find a piece. Frustrated, he punched a nearby wall. He slid down and sat on the cold stone floor. I'm a hopeless case. He thought miserable.
"She's right" he spoke to himself. "I can't do anything right. Ivy was right. We don't have a purpose here. I-I'm piece of...." he hesitated, "jewelry..." and he thought about it. That weird word jewelry. If he was truly trapped in their, the necklace, for a long time, why hadn't he wanted to get out sooner. He couldn't remember clearly, but he pictured this girl that died. She was terribly selfish and split them apart. But I never despised being in the necklace.
So would it be that bad to go back. He kept that idea for a second before moving on. He got up and continued his frustrating search.
A barking in the distance distracted him. As it got closer it was more clear to him what it was. I think they call it a god....yes that's correct! God.
Hula came running down the hallway with tiny steps. She stopped in front of Neptune and whimpered.
"What a cute god this is. I wonder who you belong to" he tried getting closer but Hula barked. The dog turned away. Then ran in the opposite direction.
Zephyr laughed at his fingers wiggling. Wow these stubs are brilliant. Look! They wiggle like worms.
"I can't...." he giggled. "Ha, boop. I booped the wall"
"Hula! Here girl" Zephyr heard in between his fits of laughter.
David had been looking for Hula for the past hour. Hula had not responded nor had she shown up. He started to worry for the small pooch.
Zephyr jumped at the dog call. A shadow had loomed on the wall of the tunnel he had found himself in. If you think about it, I just appeared here. He couldn't seem to remember what happened before. That's right I can turn into air. The memory of air powers came back to him. With one swoosh, he was thin air, and you could not see him.
David's shadow became larger, and soon he appeared in the tunnel. He called the dogs name and whistled a few times before leaning against the wall. He sighed, "Where could she have gone in a maze like this. It would be hours, months, centuries before I find h-"
Bark. Bark. The noise echoed around. David looked up in surprised. Zephyr held still, for he did not want to be seen by a human. Yes that's what they're called.
The dog appeared in the tunnel, but a blue cloak appeared behind it. Hula skipped to David's side cocking her head for a snack. David joyfully picked the dog up. Neptune stepped back while cautiously putting his hands up ready to attack with rivers of water.
"Is this god yours"
"What? Look, I'm not trying to hurt anyone" David pleaded
Neptune scoffed, "Yeah right! All you humans ever do is harm! Where's Zephyr"
Awe! He really does care. Zephyr watched unnoticed. He leaned against the cold wall grinning at the thought.
"I don't know who or what you're looking for, but I don't have it, him, whatever. I'm trying to find my friends. Thanks for my 'dog' anyways" he thanked, but Neptune still held his guard up.
"I know you have him! I can sense it. Give my brother back you mammal or, or... I'll have to drown you"
"Neptune you do care!" Zephyr blurted out accidentally. Neptune was sure now that David had Zephyr. The blue cloak shot out water like a geyser.
David tried but failed to dodge the shots. Hula barked at Neptune who simply barked back as if to respond. David got up infuriated. Neptune stepped back slightly. Zephyr pressed back into the wall not wanting to get caught up in the mess.
David stepped forward "Fight me with your fists. This is an unfair fight"
"Should it be fair when you have what's not yours" Neptune slung water around David's head cutting his air. David flung his arms and legs around.
Hula went flying towards Neptune. She sunk her pointy teeth into his leg. The cloak went flying back, and David went free from his water bubble.
Zephyr looked down at his hands. They were fading away more each second. I'm being absorbed back. No! No! Who has the necklace? He became visible again but without a left arm.
"Zephyr come here" Neptune called, but the boy slowly faded into thin air. Enraged, the blue cloak turned to beat David, but him and the dog were gone.
The dog led David to a cave that seemed to have no roof. The dog proceeded to led him to the center where three bodies lay.
"Bailee! Casper! Raven! Wake up" he shook them
"David" Bailee first reacted. Raven blinked to notify she was alive. Casper got up and dusted his pants.
"They got married. So we are fine" Raven started the story.
"We all knew this day would come, but not this fast" he joked. Bailee kicked his "nut sack" with great force. He hunched over and winced, "I'm sorry" They all laughed.
Zephyr woke up in a large room with white walls. "No! Not the necklace! I enjoy my human self"
"Calm down Zephyr. Eve has us in good hands. We are used more than back then. Trust me" He recognized the shy voice.
"Oh Ivy, she got you too" he cocked his eyebrow
"No I got myself. At least I can comprehend that I'm not meant to be alive" she set some tea in front of him.
He sipped thoughtfully. "Maybe you are right. Are you sure this 'Eve' girl can take care of us? What if the evil temptations take over"
"The necklace would not have chosen a fool Zephyr. I have faith in her. You should too"
Zephyr nodded. "Fine. I'll have faith in this 'girl' you call Eve. That name is so weird. What does it even mean"
"It means a day or period of time immediately before an event, occasion or holiday" Ivy restated
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"Maybe she'll become a savior at the eve of an apocalypse" Ivy giggled. The two sat drinking their tea joyfully. Who knows if Ivy's joke was the truth or not?
