Author's P.O.V.
To say the very least, brunch was quite the interesting hour at the AM. The young asgardian prince kept mostly to himself and even when people tried to engage in a conversation with him, he either gave a cold answer or didn't give an answer at all.
Throughout the meal, Thor had been shooting glares at his brother and passed apologetic looks to the 2 leaders of the team. Loki had not been giving proper responses to the both of them, either.
"Now I know what Tony was talking about.", Wichar commented as they were climbing down the stairs of the Manor to go back to the Avengers Tower.
Ahead of them, Loki, Thor, Natasha and Clint were walking briskly towards the parking, making it clear that they wanted to get back as soon as possible. The archer and the demi god, more so than the others. During the whole meal, they were looking at each other as though one of them will slit the other's throat for sure.
Tony, (Y/n) and Bruce bet on Clint doing that while Wichar, Firoze and Steve bet on Loki. Thor and Natasha didn't partake in this thrilling activity as they were too busy calming both the parties down.
Even though they had taken part in that jovial bet, (Y/n) and Steve were worried about the team.
"Did we make a mistake by agreeing to add him?", (Y/n) asked the blonde walking beside her.
"It's too late to think about that, (Y/n). All we can do is hope that he will change. For the better, of course." The other laughed at the last sentence spoken by the soldier while he flashed her a smile.
"Don't worry. I will show him to his room once we get back, because by the looks of it, you might land a punch on Loki if he speaks too much.", She offered. Steve glared at her playfully.
"How can I ever thank you?", He asked expressing his gratitude. The crown princess being the person she is, pounced on the opportunity.
"Well, they do say you make the best coffee known to man." The soldier laughed at his best friend's price demand.
"Alright then. When and where?", He asked.
"About 6:30. In my lounge. And yes, I forgot to tell you Clint, along with Nat are going outside to get the groceries in the evening and I think Thor is going to visit his girlfriend or something. So, it will be just you, Tony, Bruce, Loki and I in the tower tonight.", She informed.
"I don't have a problem but just tell them to be back before 11 because we lock the facility then.", He said.
"I already did.", She replied.
"And that's why we make a rad leading duo." (Y/n) cringed at Steve's use of vocabulary.
"Steve, if you care about the civilization please, don't ever say that again.", She requested. They laughed and took their seats inside the limo.
Through the entire ride, nobody uttered a single word. Even the ever boisterous god of thunder had a silencing spell on him. The slight humming of the engine filled in the silence and soothed (Y/n)'s nerves.
The only words spoken, were when they arrived at the Tower.
"Sirs, madams, we have have arrived.", Philip informed cautiously. This seemed to lift the silencing spell from the crew and (Y/n) was the first to speak.
"Thank you very much for your cooperation, Philip. Take the rest of the day off.", She permitted as the others alighted from the car. Her driver shot her a bewildered look.
"But ma'am it's only 2'o clock. I don't get off till 6.", He said slowly. She nodded.
"I understand that, my man but it would be barbaric of me to make you all work in such scorching heat. In fact you know what, I have a stack of cold drinks lying in my fridge. I will have it sent down so that you can go and enjoy it back at home, what say?" The employee was taken aback by his employer's generosity which he had only heard of, but never experienced. The middle aged man turned back to look at the crown princess with grateful eyes.
"Thank you, your majesty.", He said meaning every word.
"No need Philip. In fact it should be I who should thank you. After all you were working for me even on a day like this." The young woman had performed this act of kindness thinking that nobody saw her, but a certain young Asgardian prince had been in awe of her actions.
When he first met her while he was with his brother, he took her to be nothing more than a spoiled princess, like the ones he had met, back in his home planet but now, he had just been proven wrong on his face. He didn't have much time to ponder on it because he saw her coming towards him.
"So, ready to check in to your new room?", She asked with a plain voice. Loki scoffed at her while she just lifted her eyebrow.
"Anything comical?" He nodded, trying to still test her patience.
"Just the fact that you could be naive enough to call a prison, my room.", He stated as they walked through the driveway of the tower. His companion nodded sideways.
"Hm. Depends on how look at it though.", She stated confidently. He looked towards her, intrigued by her comment.
"Oh? How so?" They had reached the shade of the training room and the elemental took her sunglasses off so that her electricity infused eyes looked directly at the man walking with her and the sparks from her eyes made shivers run down Loki's spine. Even his brother didn't posses such electric eyes, even though he had that element at his disposal.
"I could have also said that sarcastically, which you missed. How about that?", she asked unbeknownst to the sudden shock her eyes had given him. Now, it his turn to nod.
"Or I might have just overlooked it.", He countered.
"It would have been a valid point but your previous statement contradicts this strategy of yours.", She pointed. At hearing her observant reply something unexpected placed itself on Loki's lips.
A genuine smile.
"You now, you are much more interesting than anybody else from your species.", He commented.
"Could say the same about you.", (Y/n) commented stepping into the elevator.
One would think that after such an engrossing debate the elevator would be filled with the chattering of the two but for that, either one of them would have to be an open book and that was something they weren't, so there was an undisturbed silence in the glass coated capsule with the only prominent voice being JARVIS's.
"Ms. Acharya, Mr. Laufeyson, which floor do you wish to go to?", The butler asked.
"How about Loki's floor, JARVIS?", She asked.
"Very good, Ma'am.", He said as the elevator glided upwards.
Loki's P.O.V.
So, I thought, they have dedicated a whole floor to my prison? Impressive.
"How was your trip from Asgard?", The crown princess of the United Provinces of Pragjyotispur inquired to perhaps fill in the silence.
"Satisfactory.", I replied. I started to reflect back on our debate a few minutes back. It felt strange, how easily I could converse with her without any hesitation. That wasn't the only thing I found strange or odd about her.
When we were at the Manor, I had managed to get on everyone's nerves but hers. It was as if she had been expecting me to behave in that manner and I wanted to know why.
As soon as I can put a name to the face, that is., I thought.
I had never felt so incompetent in my entire immortal life and for this woman, it seemed like a speciality, where as it used to be mine.
The elevator dinged, announcing our arrival at our desired destination and I can say that I was prepared to find myself in a cage.
Apparently I didn't need to.
As soon as the door opened, so did my mouth. In front of me a room which looked like a living room lied waiting. It had a wooden flooring and was furnished with grey comfortable couches. In front of them lay a wooden table which was placed on top of a grey rug and the setting was facing an olive green wall with a clock on it.
From the ceiling I saw two lights hanging which looked beautiful with the setting.
To the side there was another wall which held what the mortals called a television but I had no interest in that.
On one side I could see a counter to one side with 3 stools under it. On one side of the room, towards the inside there was another dog which led to I knew not where.
I was baffled. I turned towards the person who escorted me here.
"I don't understand. I thought I was supposed to be placed in a cage, imprisoned even.", I stated to which she looked at me incredulously.
"Loki you are a man who has come to redeem himself of his crimes, not an animal. Yes, I agree that your actions in the past had not been ideal" Both of us laughed a little at this. "but that doesn't mean it rips you of your right to a second chance in life. A chance of freedom and as the heiress of peace and justice, believe me when I say that it's only just for you to have it."
"So,", She said leading me in. "welcome to your second chance.", She completed spreading her hands around the place.
"As you can see, I had this painted in a green, gold and black theme.", She explained. She noticed that I was staring curiously at the counter afar and smiled.
"A-ha! That counter is meant for snacks and from what Thor told me you like, tea. You can make your refreshments there if you stay up late or don't feel like coming down."
"Impressive.", I commented. She smiled.
"Oh wait till you see the bedroom." I lifted my eyebrow in suspicion.
She opened the door to the side of the room to reveal my bed room.
It would be safe to say that after I had seen this room, I was sure to not miss Asgard much.
The flooring here too, was wooden but it was darker. A queen sized canopy bed could be found once someone entered the room and a chandelier hung from the top. In front of the foyer there were two arm chairs with a small table in the middle and to the sides, there were two bedside tables on top of which, were lamps.
The whole area around the bed was covered by a soft rug while a painting hung to the wall on the side.
I noticed that there was another room which was attached to the bedroom.
"What is that?", I inquired pointing at it and going towards it. The heiress of peace and justice, laughed lightly.
"Why don't you go and see it?", She told me as if I were child. At that moment though, I didn't have the urge to argue with her about my treatment so I complied. I climbed up the one step slowly and I knew she was coming behind me due to the sound of her heels on the wooden floor.
I entered and found myself standing in an in room library which was stocked with all my favourite books and a few others. A comfortable window seat stood there welcoming anybody who may want, to sit in it and read.
You could say that I was ecstatic and perhaps it showed on my face as she laughed.
"Consider this as a welcome gift. I thought Tony wouldn't trust you with the tower's library and Thor said you love to read, I thought why don't I give you your own space for books? You know, from one reader to another." I turned to her with perhaps the most pleased face I could ever have.
"Thank you so much.", I said. She simply laughed.
"You're welcome. Anyways, you enjoy your new room and if you need anything ask JARVIS. He'll help you and you can find me on the third floor.", She said before she walked out. I decided that I couldn't go longer without her name and stopped her.
"Yes?", She asked when I called her.
"I know you didn't want to, but it would be an honour to know such a charismatic lady's name. Would you mind providing me with yours? Besides, I remember that I owe you a game of chess, so if you could give me your name then I could ask JARVIS to send you an invite on my behalf?", I requested. She looked at the ground with a smile.
"It's (Y/n), (Y/n) Acharya."
With that, she walked out of the room without another word, leaving her name to echo in my mind, much like footsteps which had denied to erase themselves from my conscience even when she left my chambers.
This maiden is like nobody I have ever met...
