Chapter 27
"So you literally kicked him out of your house,?" Vincent asked, laughing so hard Melanie worried for his poor ribs.
"Yeah, I did. Stop laughing come on."
"Sorry." He calmed down a little and looked at her from the corner of his eyes."
"You shouldn't be too hard on him, you know. He has gone through quite much the past months so it's understandable if he doesn't want to be involved with anyone."
"Because of a girl right?"
"Yeah." He looked away, trying to hide the sadness in his eyes.
"So you won't tell me too huh?."
"It's not that... It's-"
"Not your story, yeah I got that. That's what everyone has been telling me."
"You should be patient, princess. He'd tell you I'm sure of that."
"What did the witch do to him though? Divorce him?"
"She's not a witch."
"Oh, so now you're defending her. "
"No offense, but you're starting to act like a bitch. You don't know what happened so do not judge. She was the best thing that happened to him so losing her changed him."
Was?
What the hell is he saying?
"K. Bye."
"Yeah, bye."
They both walked away angrily.
Melanie got in her car and rested her head of the steering wheel. She thought back to what happened at the club and wondered if she truly acted like a bitch. She decided to apologize when next they meet but for now she had somewhere else to be.
T&M company ltd.
She reversed her car out of the garage and drove the opposite way.
♨♨♨
She parked her car in front of the largest building in the area stood at one of the busiest streets in California. The T&M company was one of the best bedsheets and curtains producing company. Actually there were two best... T&M and Harry's curtains and bedsheets Ltd which belonged to Vincent Harry.
She was allowed in by two guards who insisted on using a metal detector on her. She entered but not before giving the middle finger to the poor guards who were just doing their jobs.
She made her way to the receptionist who was busy smacking her lips, chewing a gum bigger than her brain which irritated Melanie.
"Yo, I wanna see Toby." She demanded, daring the blonde slut with her eyes to deny her entry.
"He's busy." The receptionist said cuttingly and started adjusting her silicon boobs. Melanie huffed.
"Okay then, I guess I'll have to go see for myself." Mel said, moving towards the VIP elevator.
"Hey, wait. I'll call him." She said, shooting Mel a murderous look.
"Good."
The receptionist picked up with phone and Melanie almost puked at the too long nails which was painted in black and looked like talons. She wondered how she even managed to type.
"Mr Collins, some girl says she wants to see you. Should I tell her to go back since you're busy?" Melanie couldn't hear what Toby said but she could see it wasn't very nice considering the way the blonde bimbo lowered her eyes and almost pouted.
"O-okay sir, right away sir." She removed the phone from her ear and throwing Melanie a more murderous look, she asked her name.
"Melanie Walker."
"She said Melanie Walker sir."
"Oh, okay sir." She dropped the phone.
"He said you can come in." Blonde said looking away.
"Of course,"
Melanie made her way to the VIP elevator ignoring the receptionist's protests.
The door of the elevator opened to a wide room on the topmost floor which was made of glass except the doors which were made of ancient woods. She tried not to drool too much and headed to the door which had CEO- Mr Toby Collins written on it. She knocked twice and without waiting for a reply, opened the door and entered.
She felt her heart skip a beat or two as she came face to face with Mr ocean eyed.
"N-nice office." She croaked out. Clearing her throat she made her way towards the couch almost 10 feet from his desk and sat.
♨♨♨
Toby was busy replying some emails which should have been the work of his personal assistant if he hadn't sacked her a week before. He has lost himself into the emails when the buzzer sounded, a call from his receptionist.
"Mr Collins, some girl says she wants to see you. Should I tell her to go back since you're busy?" Adrianna owen said.
Toby knew if his receptionist's crush on him and how she was always cold to any female who comes looking for him.
"Did I tell you I'm busy? Haven't I told you to stop being rude to female visitors. I warn you, miss Owen if you don't stop treating my female visitors with respect, you'd have to find yourself another job. What did she say her name is?"
"O-okay sir, right away sir." She stuttered.
"She said Melanie Walker sir." Toby's heart skipped a beat at her name. What the hell was she looking for in his company.
"Let her in." He'd have to wait to find out.
He couldn't focus on the emails after the phone call. He kept tapping his foot on the marble floor impatiently waiting for her arrival. At last, he heard a knock and opened his mouth to say 'come in.' But Melanie didn't give him the chance as she opened the door and walked into his office.
"N-nice office." She muttered in greeting and made her way to his couch like she owned it. It was things like that that attracted her to him.
He shook the thought away.
"What do you want?" He managed to ask in a bored tone.
"Explanations."
Toby tensed. He had an idea what she wanted to know but wasn't ready to give her. He was sure she wouldn't back down but was also a strong headed man.
"For?"
"Your behaviours."
"Look here, I don't have to explain myself to you, after all I gave you an apology which you refused to accept."
"I didn't accept it cause you didn't mean it "
"How would you know I didn't? Because Asher and your model friend threatened me doesn't mean I apologized for that. I don't even give two fucks about the deal with your uncle so why would I apologize because of it?"
"I'm not asking for the reason you apologized. I'm asking for the reason you did those things you did."
"That's none of your damn business."
"It's in every way my business considering I was the one who you behaved like that too."
"Is it because of her?"
"Who's her?" Toby asked confused.
"The girl who left you." In that moment, the anger in Toby's eyes was more than she had ever seen in anyone's eyes. She knew right then that she had hit a nerve.
"Get out." He said so quietly she barely heard but she could hear the storm brewing. For the first time in months she shivered with fear and trepidation.
"Toby-i-"
"I said Get. The. Fuck. Out. Of my office."
"No!"
"No?"
"I'm tired of being pushed away! I'm tired of waiting for you to come around! I'm tired of everything so I'm going to wait here and you can do anything you want okay? Hit me! Shout at me all you want I won't budge okay? Because I'm freaking tired. Do. Your. Worst. Toby."
The whole room was silent, their laboured breath the only exception.
"You want to know what happened?"
"You want to know about the girl that left me?"
"Fine."
"I'll tell you."
He moved to her so fast she barely had time to blink. She kept moving back until she felt her back pressed against the wall. He caged her and up close she could see all the emotions in his clear blue eyes.
Rage. Sorrow. Hesitance. Fear. Loneliness.
"She died, Mel. She fucking died and left me then went ahead and donated her heart to some lowlife."
