Chapter 26

Loner's club was bustling with people. Most of them teens who used fake ids and tried to hide their young faces with layers of make up. Though it could give them entry into the club but couldn't conceal that they weren't meant to be there. They know they aren't supposed to be there so now that they're there they misuse the opportunity by flirting with people old enough to be their parents, getting drunk and doing drugs which would have gotten Kevin into a lot of trouble whenever the cops came to arrest them if not for his influences and connections.

Melanie walked into the dimly lit club in black stiletto 4inch heels and a black sleeveless gown which stopped at mid thigh. Her thick and curly hair was packed on top of her head in an elegant up do. She walked in a straight line, her posture which screamed confidence made people part for her just like how the red sea parted for Moses's rod.

Slowly, everyone's attention moved to her, even the DJ lowered the volume of the hip hop playing. They all felt differently with the owner of the club's niece appearance. They were all aware she disappeared few months back, each of them forming different reasons to why she did but none knowing the real reason.

Then she came back some weeks ago, first when the fight between Kevin and his wife, tiffany. Then later with a friend but in those times she came in like a normal club goer, but now they were sure she was back.

The wild Melanie Walker was back. In a way, they missed her as she was always the life of the party but it seemed that were she disappeared to sucked the life out of her but now that she was back, the young men were happy, the ladies were green with envy but they all knew the party wouldn't be dull with her, and for that they were happy.

The DJ cleared his throat into his microphone drawing everyone's attention back to him.

"In the past months, the party has been quite boring, I think we all noticed that the the life of the parties wasn't around." That earned him a few nods and mutters of agreement.

"But now, the very life of this club is back in person of Melanie Walker give it up for our lady in black.

Everyone cheered and Melanie blew kisses to them all. Some came to meet and greet her and she responded to them warmly with smiles and all. Vincent harry was among them and weirdly she felt herself at ease with him almost as if they were old friends. They joked about what happened when they last met and Vincent made her promise to update him on all that had happened since then.

After the brief talking, Melanie made her way to her uncle's office on the top floor. She got a message from her uncle to meet him there and that was her initial reason for coming there.

No bothering to knock, she opened the door to Kevin's office in the club. Her uncle was sitting on his swivel with his legs crossed on his desk, smoking a cigar which he put off as she entered.

"Hi uncle," she greeted. Going behind his desk and placing a kiss on his forehead. He chuckled.

"That's my move Melanie, heard from your father yet?" He asked, standing and placing a kiss on Mel's head then leading her to a red couch just in front of his desk.

"I don't know, am I supposed to hear from him? You know more than to expect him to check on me. He never does."

"Yes I know and you should hear from him for an entirely different reason. A reason that'd benefit you but be a big loss for him." Kevin said stroking her cheeks.

"Hmm let me guess, his wife died or ran away with all his wealth?" She asked hopefully.

"No, Mel." Her uncle chuckled.

"Oh, one of the peacock died or created a very big scandal that can ruin their future and the Walker's name?."

"Jeez, you know it's wrong to wish bad for your family Mel." Her uncle said jokingly.

She snorted. "That's bullshit Kevin, you know very well that you and Tiff are the only family I have. That reminds me, when are you two planning to give me cousins?" Mel asked narrowing her eyes.

Kevin rolled his eye, looking at her warily he smiled. "How about, never?" Melanie gasped and smack his arm that was around her. "Are you freaking serious?? What the hell is wrong with you two? Can't you just fuck and produce babies it's quite easy you know." She said winking.

"You can't understand Mel." Kevin said still smiling, but Melanie noticed sadness in his eyes but decided not to question it. She knew her uncle could be tight lipped.

"I heard about what happened with you and Mr Collins." Kevin said attempting to change topic.

"You mean Toby?"

"Yep, do you really want me to terminate the contract?"

"No." Kevin nodded. "I knew you'd make the right decision."

""What?!""

"You think I'm making the right decision? Then that makes us two cause Kat and Asher thinks I'm making the wrong one." She huffed.

"Well, I don't blame them, they both don't know how it feels to have a complicated love life, they think it's right to make decisions with the head not with the heart." Kevin shrugged.

"So you think making decisions with the heart is good?"

"Actually, both is good but even though the heart makes pretty bad decisions it really knows what you want while the brain knows what you need. And most times, picking what you want is the best decision. For your peace of mind."

"Oh."

"Why aren't you a motivational speaker? You'd do well as that than a business man." Kevin laughed and patted her head.

"With enough experience, anyone can be a motivational speaker, love."

"Nah, I don't think so."

"So what are you going to do now? Wait for him?"

"I really don't know, he keeps pushing me away. I think its because of some girl I saw in my dreams. He also hinted it at the club the other day. I think she left him, I'm not sure."

"What girl?"

"I don't fucking know the witch but what I know is that she made him into what he is. She left him."

Melanie saw recognition flash in her uncle's eyes followed by pity. Does everyone know what happened to Him? Why weren't they telling her. This was so unfair.

"You know her." She said accusingly.

He nodded. "Then why aren't you telling me?" She was frustrated with him, asher wouldn't tell and now her own uncle.

"Its not my story to tell, Mel. He'd tell you himself when he's ready."

"What if he doesn't?" He shook his head,"he would."

"You should go to him, Mel."

"No!"

"Please," he held her hands.

"He needs you, Mel you need him to so make the first move, go to him, demand explanation and force it out of him if you can."

"And how would I do that?"

"You should know, you're a woman."

She huffed. "Fine, and if he kicks me out then I'm coming here to kick your ass."

Kevin chuckled. "Sure."

Melanie stood, kissed her uncle's nose and was about to leave but was stopped by her uncle.

"You should get a call from your father tonight, he's going to invite you to a party. You should attend it." She wanted to ask questions but she could see it in her uncle's determined eyes that that was all she'd get.

With a nod she closed the door and headed to the club.
