Chapter 20

Have tea♨♨♨

*****
A vicious knock on the front door tore Melanie rudely from her sleep. She groaned. If it was that good for nothing son of a bachelor who thought it nice to wake her from her well deserved sleep she wasn't going to hesitate to bash his head in.

She frowned as she heard a muffled yawn right beside her and turned to see her best friend laying beside her on the floor with their legs and blanket in a tangled mess.

"Who's that fucker?" Kat groaned.

"Probably Bryan." She grumbled too, lifting the sheets from her legs and giving up when it wouldn't budge.

"Ugh. That mother fucking good for nothing son of a bachelor." Kat cussed.
"Funny, that's what came to my mind now can you get your lazy ass off the floor and go open the door for him?"

"No, you do it its your house."

"Come on, don't be lazy."

"I could say the same for you, anyways I'll go open it, I have to give that shithead a piece of my mind." Melanie chuckled at that, remembering the past bickering of her friend and boyfriend.
Katrina managed to stand from the tangled mess and made her way to the front door. She unlocked it and swung it open with a great force it nearly hit her in the face. She opened her mouth, ready to throw insults at her friend's boyfriend but was shocked to the bone marrow when instead of Bryan's grumpy and uninteresting boyish look she was met with a fresh clean shaven and gorgeous face who smirked at her, his face displayed an 'I know I'm delicious' look as she gaped at him, taking in his lean but muscular body.

"Um hi?" She managed to mutter. Melanie frowned from where she was sprawled on the floor. 'Um hi?' That didn't seem like the way her best friend was likely to greet her boyfriend. Something like 'hey butthead' or 'how dare you interrupt my sleep you hermaphrodite.' Would be more suitable. And the only reason why her sassy girlfriend would get nervous when greeting someone was if it was the opposite sex and the person in question is damn gorgeous. Deciding she had had enough she got there in time to see someone with a dirty blonde hair and expensive suit swoop down to kiss Katrina's hand. She watched as her friend drooled and shook her head.

Looking back to the man, she groaned. Just when she thought she was beginning to forget about a particular ocean eyed person, his best friend had to show up and even worse, seduce her best friend who's got a little drool at the side of her mouth. Just great.

Deciding to save the day by saving her best friend the embarrassment of having to clean her drool from Asher's suit she not so gently shoved Katrina away and planted her self right in front of Asher, she raised one of her eyebrows and narrowed her eyes wanting to look intimidating. She saw him gulp and smirked Aha, it worked.

Uncle Kevin would be proud of her if she told him of her achievement in scaring his business partner with just her face expression and she was sure he wouldn't hear the end of it from her uncle.

"What a nice morning." He managed to squeal out. Her smirk widened, my God he was really frightened.

"Depends on your definition of nice. I'm sure having a particular someone almost bring down your door early in the morning only to squeal in your face  is not the definition of a nice morning."

'I did not squeal' he pouted and looked down only to look up abruptly with a confused look. "Is that all?" He asked with his eyebrows drawn together as if he expected more from her. It angered her. How dare he wake her up for no good reason and then try to be sarcastic.

"Yes! That is all mister and except you want me to slam this door I'm your face you better start giving me reasons for appearing at my doorstep and making my best friend almost drool EARLY IN THE MORNING." She felt a pinch at her arm from kat but ignored it.

"Err, I just.. I." He took a deep breath then, 'I'm surprised you haven't slammed the door really."

Melanie scrunched her nose up. "And why should I?"

"You know, if I wasn't so keen on getting you two together you wouldn't be hurt because of him. If only I knew what a monster he has become." Melanie studied his face for a long while before gesturing for him to enter.

"It's really not your fault though, you could have warned me about him but I'm sure you didn't know."

"Am I forgiven?" He asked hopefully. She gave him a warm smile and squeezed his shoulder in a comforting way.

"There's nothing to forgive." She said and added after a pause. "You should tell that assholey friend of yours that we should never cross path again or else..." She waggled her fists in front of him demonstratively and he chuckled. "I get it. Trust me, he won't for now." She nodded, sucking her bottom lips she gestured for him to sit down and he did.

"Tea? Everyone." Katrina's cheery voice  brought her wandering mind back. For someone whose sleep was interrupted she acted too cheerily.

It has been long since she saw her friend in that kind of mood near a man. It can only mean she liked him, instinctively her matchmaking side almost took over but she calmed it. They were adults now, it would be better to allow things work naturally. Though she'd make sure to embarrass Katrina often in his presence but that'd be when they were close enough. For now she'd just sit back and watch. After all she had nothing else doing.

"Giving up on him yet?" Asher asked from the corner of his mouth, looking straight forward. Anybody else would be confused by what he meant but she wasn't. She thought back to the discussion she and Katrina had the previous night and realised that she'd had her answer all along. She reached for her own tea which she had abandoned as she watched the pair flirt and returned it after taking a long sip. Standing up, she turned to face him squarely, a smirk played on her mouth and a mischievous glint shone in her eyes.

"Not on your life, Moley."

He groaned.
