Ares

"Ares, chill my guy" Nate told me.

"My dumbass even told her she's mine" I said pinching the bridge of my nose. "Why couldn't I just shut up?"

"Cause you never shut up" Nate commented.

"Nah man, that's you" Leo said chuckling as he scrolled through his phone. Nate threw him a pillow.

"And I left her too! How could I treat her like this? She's probably hurt or angry"

"Then go find her bitch!" Leo said throwing me the pillow.

"And what will I say? Sorry I'm just kind of in love with you?"

"Perfect" Nate chuckled.

"It's not funny!"

"Aight, I'm throwing you out. Go find her" Nate said pushing me of the couch.

"This is my property"

"Dude, go say this to Serenity" Leo said laughing.

"I said it's not funny!"

"And I said go find her, jeez!" Nate said pushing me out the door and shutting it right in front of me.

Great. Thanks a lot assholes.

I drove home again thinking of what to say to her. I didn't want to just brush it off like nothing happened but I didn't know what to say to her.

I told her I love her, but she probably didn't take it the way I wanted her to. I shouldn't have told her, but I couldn't hold it in any longer. My chest was aching to get it out.

When I arrived home I stayed in the car a bit and thought about what I should say to her. I shouldn't have acted like an asshole about it.

It was kind of late so I had some hope that she had fallen asleep. When I walked in, all the lights were turned off and she wasn't jn the living room. Feeling panicked I quickly ran to her room to see her door closed.

I opened it slowly and saw her sleeping soundly on her bed. She had her blue night light on and she was curled up in her bed.

I walked closer and kneeled down to see her face. Her pouted lips were parted and her eyes were gently closed. I pulled back a few hairs that were covering her face.

"I love you so much. I wish you knew. I've loved you for years, but I could never approach you and now that I'm so close to you daily my feelings grow stronger and stronger. Sometimes I can't control it, I feel caged because I can't express what I feel" I whispered knowing she couldn't hear me but deep down I hoped she could.

She hummed in her sleep and moved a little.

"Fuck, I wish I could kiss you"

My lips were itching to kiss hers, but I kissed her forehead instead.

I couldn't sleep that night. I was used to sleeping with her in my arms. My bed felt cold and empty now, I kept tossing and turning and I couldn't find a comfortable position.

I thought about going to her room. If I couldn't sleep, at least I would watch her sleep.

That sounds creepy as fuck. I should stop.

It was Saturday today, which meant Serenity didn't have to go to school, which meant I got to have her all to myself.

It was nine in the morning when I decided to take a shower. After about ten minutes I got out and wrapped a towel around my waist. I opened the door to go to my room.

But bumped into someone.

I looked down and saw her with eyes wide open in surprise and parted lips.

"I-I'm sorry!" She stuttered blushing like crazy. Her small hands were still on my abs creating a burning feeling in me.

"You don't need to be sorry, Seren" I told her and leaned down to kiss her nose.

"I-I'll go shower now" She said pointing to the bathroom.

"I'll make breakfast" I said smiling.

I put on some clothes and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

I was flipping a pancake when I heard her soft voice from the hallway. I turned around and saw her peeking behind the wall. Her hair was wet and I could only see her head and bare shoulder.

Is she naked? Or just wearing a towel?

"Ares?" She called out and I hummed in reply. "Can I take one of your shirts? I-"

"Yes" I said quickly. I was dying to see her with my clothes on.

A few minutes later she came back wearing one of my black t-shirts. It reached just above her knees and she had her chocolate brown hair up in a ponytail.

Help me God.

I served her breakfast and we ate together in silence.

"Do you have anything to do today?" I asked her. She shook her head no, "Good you're all mine today then" I smirked.

She whispered something.

"What?" I asked her.

"I-I'm always yours" She said quietly. I almost didn't hear it, but I'm thankful I did. "Isn't that what you said? That I'm yours?"

I didn't know what to say. I didn't know what reaction I wanted to get out of her. I was dying to tell her about how I feel, but I wasn't sure if she was ready. On the other hand, I didn't want to deny it, I wanted to hint it.

"Do you want to be?" I asked.

"I-"

Great. My phone rang.

I saw Nate was the one calling and ignored it.

"So what were you saying?" I asked her. The phone started ringing again and I sighed in annoyance.

"Pick up the phone" She told me.

"It's just Nate-"

"It may be important, pick it up"

I sighed and picked up the phone feeling angry.

"What!?" I snapped at him.

"How could you ignore my phone calls?!" He yelled.

"Shut up and tell me what you want"

"Alright asshole. You need to come here and talk to Vincent"

The moment I heard his name I turned down the volume. I didn't want Serenity to hear anything.

"Why today?"

"It's now or never" He said and cut the call.

I sighed and threw the phone on the table.

"What is it?" Serenity asked.

"Baby I'm sorry, I need to go for a few hours"

I watched as her face fell but she quickly masked it with a smile.

I hated this.

Before she could speak I picked her up and put he on my lap tickling her sides. She giggled uncontrollably blessing my ears and I chuckled.

"Stop it silly" She told me.

"I love you" I told her. I felt a little free. I couldn't tell her everything, but at least I could tell her this.

She paused but I smiled and kissed her nose.

"I have to go now" I told her and let her stand up.

"Don't be too late" She murmured.

"I'll try. I'll miss you" I said as I grabbed my keys.

"Vincent. Please don't waste my time" I sighed.

"Man I told you, I don't know her okay?"

"First of all I'm no buddy of yours. You can only call me boss or sir. I may be a little easier on my men because I consider them family but I won't let anyone treat me with disrespect"

"I'm sorry" He mumbled and looked down.

"Vincent, you can trust me. I promise you I won't tell anyone about this. Not even Serenity"

He sighed.

"What was your plan?" I asked.

"I had no plan. I came here of my own free will. I needed the money desperately. I didn't know you had any connection with her until I heard you talk about her. I didn't tell anyone I swear"

"Then how did that woman find her?" I asked him.

"She learned about his death. There are two sides to the story. It's either she wanted to take her in, or she learned about you being her guardian and wanted to get money out of you somehow"

I felt disgusted.

"Let her know I will never ever let Serenity go" I said feelinng murderous.

I needed her to calm me down.

"I swear I never plotted anything against you or her. If you don't believe me you can fire me, throw me out"

"I'll keep an eye on you, I just need to know one thing" I said. He nodded gesturing me to keep going. "Are you really her brother?"

"Yes"
