This time it was different, for how long can she take this torture? For how long will she be patient? It was getting out of hand. How many people will Ummah turn against her? How many times will she embarrass her?
Ducking her head lowly, she swallowed the big lump in her throat. You know that moment everything is so hard on you and you just want to cry, and your throat tightens really hard and you can feel the tears pricking your eyes, and your chest rising heavily up and down but you just can't break down because it's not the right place or right time to do so? That's exactly what Haneesa was feeling as she traced her hand on the patterns of her abaya.
She just couldn't take it anymore, so she slowly stood up and left. Walking out of the room and to the living room where the men were sitting, she walked out on the them without saying anything, without even sparing them a glance. She walked out the door and she kept walking, walking, without any idea were she was going to. She just needed some space, she needed to breathe without hearing Ummah instigate another person against her.
Finally the tears rolled down, she wiped them away quickly and harshly. She tried at least but thy kept rolling down her face and just then her phone rang through her clutch. She opened her bag that was on her shoulder before answering the phone call, "Anee.." Just hearing his voice makes her want to cry more. "Where are you baby? What happened?" He asked worriedly and she sniffed.
"SubhanaAllah. Where are you? Please tell me your okay. It's Ummah right?" she couldn't even her mouth to reply him because she is afraid she will forget where she is and break down like a baby.
"Please, answer me. I'm worried! Where are you!?" She could hear his heavy footsteps through the phone call. It seems like he was running, hurting and worried.
"Sweetheart are you there? Please where are you? Come back to me.." She couldn't handle him being this sweet so she ended the call and stood there in the middle of nowhere with the stars shinning brightly. Her phone kept ringing but instead she silenced it and kept it back in her purse.
She slowly walked back to the guest chalet and just then she saw a worried Ahmaad running towards her, he immediately jumped on her, letting out a relived sigh.
"What happened!? Are you okay? You got me all worried Anee, please tell me your fine.. Don't just run away like that.. What if something bad-"
"Take me home. To my kids, please" she cut him off and he moved one stepped backwards, pocketing his hands, he watched her intensely. She refused to meet his eyes, not even once.
"What did she do this time?" He asked after a short while.
"It doesn't matter, just take me home" she looked at the ground, staring at nothing. One look at her you will know she is fighting down her tears because she was biting her lips really hard.
"Ahmaad please" she begged and detecting the urgency in her voice, he nods his head slowly and they walked to the car, he opened the passenger's seat for her and when he excused himself to inform Abba they were leaving she rests her head on the headboard.
Her head was pounding.
She waited in the car for him, it wasn't until she waited in the car for half an hour did it dawn on her that Ummah is doing her very best to make sure he leaves her waiting.
No matter how tired and eager she is to get home, she simply cannot go back inside to call him so she waited, a little big longer.
Checking her phone, she realized it was quarter to midnight. Can she find any taxi out there? Maybe she should call Ya Mukky to pick her up. Or maybe try her luck searching for taxi. Or maybe Uber.. Or just.. Oh God she felt like screaming.
It wasn't until after made up her mind to go and look for a cab that's when her husband walked out from the house, he was holding the warmer she brought earlier with Ummah and Inna Naana behind him and the guests. Ummah and Inna Naana were smiling triumphantly, laughing without any care in the world.
She watched as Ahmaad bid the guests goodbye, his mother and aunt before walking towards the car.
"I-"
"Just drive DanAllah" she cut him off annoyed. She was waiting for almost an hour for God's sake!!!
He sighed, he knew better than to keep talking so he drove home in silence just how they left home only that this time this silence is much more worst.

Thankfully Nabiila had fed the twins and changed them into their sleeping wears. She only stripped out of her abaya, too tired to take a shower or even wipe off her makeup she jumped on the bed near her babies.
She can hear his movements as he did his normal night routine but she could care any less.
All the events from tonight came back rushing in her head.
From when they walked inside the guest house, to meeting Abba with a visitor. They greeted him and walked to Ummah's room were she was with Inna Naana and Abba's friend's wife.
Since it was more appropriate, Haneesa stayed in the room with the ladies while her husband was in the living room with the men.
It started with Ummah throwing shades at her and Inna Naana telling the friend's wife about how "Abuja girl" as she called it are.
"Ai kinsman matan Habuja nan en iska neh that's why we don't allow our sons to marry any one from Abuja, sai en gida. They are more well mannered.." She continued eyeing Haneesa who tried to mute their conversation but it was impossible.
"But auren Haidar was beyond our capability. Asiri ta mishi.." The woman gasped, shook her head in disgust and contributed to the story by telling them about how her nephew's wife bewitched him now he doesn't listen to anyone expect her.
"That's why we are looking for a good malam now. My son is a goner, ta halaka mana shi. (She has destroyed him for us)" Ummah said in a low voice.
"Auzu'billahi. Hajiya Bilkisu I will help you InshaAllah.."
With no atom of shame that's how they continued talking bad and abusing her right in front of her were she sat on the carpet her head hung low.
"Ya Rabb, come here.." His voice brought her back to reality, she was sitting on the floor crying so hard while he wrapped his hands around her. She doesn't even remember how she rolled down from the bed and hugged her bare knees to her chest.
"Leave me alone!" She tried pushing him away but his grip was strong. "Na ga ji wallahi. (I am tired)"
"I know baby-"
"Just keep quiet please! You know? Know you say? You are very much aware of what the hell your mother makes me go through!" She yelled subconsciously making Aslaha to stir on the bed. She quickly placed her hand on her stomach and rocked her slowly until she was sure the girl wasn't going to wake up.
"I am sorry, Just know I don't enjoy seeing you like this. I would literally do anything in the world, if I can to make sure you never don't have to go through this pain.." He said apologetically when she sat down on the floor beside him.
She buried her head on her knees as she let the tears flow. After a while she felt his hand on her legs as he stretched them so she won't bury her head, placing his head on her lap, he entwined their hands without saying anything. Actions speak louder than words.
"I have tried enough don't you think so?" She questioned in a hoarse voice.
"You have habibty, your strong. Very, very strong and that's just one of the many reasons why I love you" he smiled at her, his eyes twinkling in the almost dark room.
She smiled running her hand through his soft, curly hair while he held her other hand.
As if remembering something, he sat up abruptly, moved closer too her while she watched in confused about what he was about to say or do next.
"Anee place your hand here" he said using his index finger to point to his chest and she slowly placed her hand there feeling his heartbeat in fast motion.. A mixture of happiness and live with pure ever after.
"What do you feel?" He asked
"Your heart beating extremely fast"
"That's my life with you inside" he smiles sending shivers down her spine.
"Without me your heart will still be beating.." She challenge confuse.
"But Ahmaad will be nothing but a walking dead. . ." he whispered dangerously into her ear and at that moment she knew she made the right Choice.

It has been almost a week after the incident but she is still not able to erase that night from her head. Everything was just so hard and the memories are just the worst. She carried the two bottles of milk before walking out of the kitchen only to stop abruptly and place her hand on her head.
"Inna lilahi wa'ina ilaihi rajiun" she exclaimed feeling a pound in her head. it wouldn't be the first time, she got that a lot nowadays. When she was either talking, walking or attending to the twins she will get a pounding headache and blackout. The room will start turning around making her very dizzy. She has to stop whatever she was doing and lay down or drink a chilled cup of water, only then she will feel better.
Dragging her feet to the room, she laid on the bed while muttering all the dua's she knows. This time it was worst and she felt like she was going to faint any minute, Ahmaad was at work and Nabiila at her service so as usual she was alone with the kids.
She could hear Aslaha crying but there is no way she can stand up and reach to the girl who was on her rocker. Reaching to her phone she dialed Ahmad's number and luckily he answered immediately. "Hello?"
"A-hmaad" she stammered shutting her eyes as hot tears roll down her face.
"Baby are you okay?"
Aslaha was still crying out loud and she was staring to feel her hands turn cold and then slowly numb. "No. -innalilahi. T-he pain"
"Anee what's wrong? I'm coming right now.." she heard some shuffling, car keys jingling but the phone was still ongoing.
"Is it the dizziness?"
She let out an unexpected yell, "my legs, I can't- i-i can't feel them"
"I'm almost home baby, stay strong for me. Ya Raabil Aalameen! Ya Allah."
She wasn't sure if Aslaha is the only one crying and just the fact that she can't reach to her kids is killing her.
"A-h-maad my he-ad.." she cried, the pain was just getting too much. She was starting to see double of everything.
"Pray with me baby, it will be fine InshaAllah. I'm almost home.." He replied worriedly, "
Allaahumma 'aafinee fee badanee, Allaahumma 'aafinee fee sam'ee, Allaahumma 'aafinee fee basaree, laa 'ilaaha 'illaa 'Anta (three times).Allaahumma 'innee 'a'oothu bika minal-kufri, walfaqri, wa 'a'oothu bika min 'athaabil-qabri, laa 'ilaaha 'illaa 'Anta"
O Allah, make me healthy in my body. O Allah, preserve for me my hearing. O Allah, preserve for me my sight. There is none worthy of worship but You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is none worthy of worship but You.
She faintly replied after him and she wasn't sure how or when he arrived but all she can remember is his frantic state as he shuffled through her closet and grabbing a Hijab. She wasn't really sure if she saw Amtullah running inside the house with tear stained face but when Ahmaad carried her in his arms shouting for her to stay with him, she fell into a pit of darkness.
