Now let's get into the story.

Tamizh

I ran as fast as I could and only when I got to the compound of the mansion did I rest my palm on my knees and breathe heavily. I try to calm myself but my eyes widened finding the car in the corridor.

“ Have they returned already “ 

I quickly wiped off my face with my pallu and ran into the house. I find Chithra ma in the living room watching TV while fanning herself with a hand fan. I hesitate but walk towards her. 

“ Vanthutingala ma “ She turns to me and glares.

( Have you returned mam ? ) 

“ Vanga maharani.. unga Aranmanai ella suthi pathutu vara neram agirucho ? “

( Welcome queen, did it take time to complete visiting your palace ? ) 

Oh my god, I could not tell the truth now, if she knew that I had left the compound she would punish me. Anyhow no one knows that I have left the compound so I decide to lie. 

“ Illa ma athu na.. manichurunga ma..kalailaya vanthu velai ella mudichu tu tha ma sapda pona.. “

( No mam.. I am sorry.. I have completed all the work by morning itself.. i just left to have food) 

“ epa paru soru soru nu.. poi thola poi yedhachu sapda kondu va... “

( You always speak about food.. get lost.. go bring something thing to eat ) 

 “ tea kudukata ma ? “

( Can I give tea mam ? )

“ ama Inga mothayala veyil kolluthu.. ithula atha vera kuduthu vairu veganum.. poi ethachu juice kondu va.. “

( It's already hot outside and do you need to spoil my stomach with hot tea ? Go bring some juice )

“ Seri ma “

( Ok mam ) 

I turn to leave to kitchen but stopped hearing her. 

“ Hey po na poiruviya.. enna venum nu keka theriyatha ? “

( Will you go if you say to go.. don't you ask what I want ?)

“ Manichurunga ma enna venum ? “

“ Nee ella enna tha Vela seirayo onu onu nama Sola vendiyathu iruku… po poi orange juice potutu va “

I nodded and left for the kitchen and quickly prepared the juice. I pour the juice in two glasses and leave to the living. 

“ Ma juice “

She takes the juice from my hand without looking at me before I turn to walk upstairs. 

“ Hey enga di pora ? “

( Where are you going ? )

“ Illama Vanthana ma ku “

( Going to serve Vandhana mam )

“ Ava ivum varala.. friends oda veliya poi iruka evening than varuva.. “

( She had not yet arrived.. she had left out with friends.. she will return by evening )

I nodded at her before I head leave but she stops me once again.

“ Atha enga kondu pora ? “

( Where are you taking it ? )

“ Fridge la veika ma “

( To keep it fridge mam )

“ Fridge la vechatha kuduthu en ponnu ku ethachu panalam nu pakaraya ? “

( Are you trying to harm my daughter by giving the juice that was kept in the fridge ?) 

“ Illa ila ma.. nan venum na keela uthiyaran.. “

( No no mam.. if you want I will throw it out )

“ ama di ithu unga appan veetu sothu.. eduthu keela uthu “

(Is it your father's asset that you waste the food)

“ Illa ma.. ipa itha enna panrathu ? “ 

She smiles evilly at me “ atha Intha table mela vechutu poi uppu jadi eduthutu va“

( Keep that on the table and go get the salt jar)

I stood still as i had guessed what was about to come.

“ Enna di.. kenji keta tha velai seivingalo ? “ she chides.

( Should I beg you for the work to be done )

I shake my head quickly, run back to the kitchen and return with the jar. 

“ Hmm.. athula rendu kai eduthu ithula potu kalaiki atha eduthu kudi... “ 

( Put two hand full of salt in it and drink it ) 

My eyes start to well but I do what she says. I lift the glass but hesitated to drink.

“ Enna di ellathayum rendu thadava solanum ah unaku ? “ She yells.

( Should I repeat everything twice ?)

I shake my head as no and close my eyes as it lets down tears and drink it in a gulp. I open my eyes and find her smirking at me. 

“ Po poi veliya paru.. evening paapa uh Ava friends varuvanga avungaluku venungara ellathayum pani vei.. “

( Go do the work.. my daughter and her friends will return by evening so make all the arrangements for it )

I nod as I am unable to speak and speed up to the kitchen. I place the glasses in the sink and run to the backyard through the door in the kitchen. As soon as I confirmed I was out of her sight I threw up. I threw up every amount of porridge I had in the morning. The salt had made my throat sour and I coughed a few times. 

After a minute I wash my mouth and face before I move back to the kitchen and drink some water before I start to work.

Sidharth pov

I greet everyone on the way to my seat in the auction room. Once I reach and sit on the place Michelle once again starts to ramble.

“ Ipavachu solu da enna pana pora ? “

( At least tell me now, what are you going to do ?)

I turn to him to reply but stop with the commotion that happens in the room. 

“ Enna sir Edward sir vararu.. avuru intha Auction ku varalanu sona naala thena nama ella vanthom.. ipa thidirunu vanthu irukaru..  ? “

( How come Edward sir is why, weren't we told he would not be here.. ? )

I hear one of the men from behind speak and smile to myself as I look at Edward, 55 year old international business men walking forward. This might be a surprise for everyone else but not me. I am well aware of his arrival, in fact I even know that he would be coming to me right now.

I softly chuckle as he stands in front of me with a fake smile.

“ Hello Mr. Siddharth.. “

I shake his hand, reflecting his smile.  

“ Hope you are regretting being here ? “ He asks in a confident tone. 

“ And why should I do that.. “

His smile fades away with my confidence before he once again fake smiles. 

“ Don't day dream of getting this project Mr.Siddharth.. you might have established your products worldwide.. but that is not even 20 percent of what my products are.. and your age is my experience in this field.. so don't waste time here and go work on some small projects that you are capable of.. “

“ Mind your words Mr.Edward “

Michelle gets ready to pounce on him but I stop him raising my hand. 

“ I agree this project is next level Mr.Edward.. “

He smiles with victory at me and even before I speak further he moves away from me to his seat. 

I smirk and move back to my seat while Michelle questions me.

“ Avan tha etho pesaran na.. neeyum ama nu solitu vara.. enna da aachu unaku “
“ Avan ena mulusa pesava vidala da athu Avan loss nan onum pana mudiyathu.. “

“ Machan un confidence ah patha balama etho siki irukum polaya ? “ 

I smirk at him while he gets excited but before he once again questions me I divert him towards the stage where the host starts speaking.

“ Hello and Good morning to all the gentlemen and beautiful ladies present here.. I welcome you all to the grand auction of Global Paradise.. As you all are aware of our Global Paradise’s world wide chain of hotels and restaurants. Our chairman wants an Indian oriented company to supply drinks, snacks, masalas and much more for all our hotels worldwide. As per the details provided earlier whoever gives the least amount for the products will receive the auction. As we are in a time restriction we have selected four companies who have given the least coat. In no particular order they are GP foods, Annam foods, Charan’s Pvt.ltd, Edward’s pvt.ltd. Others better luck next time. The above mentioned companies can give their presentation. All the best and thank you.”

Once the host got down the stage and called out for the participants to present. Our turn was third and Isha presented our ideas, our food process, our factory capabilities, etc. 

Edward’s secretary finally presents their idea and everyone is in awe with their factory abilities. Even Ethan has an impressive look while and once I look at him he makes his face blank. 

“ Thank you for all your valuable time, we have listened to all your presentations and the results will be announced in a few minutes after the break“

I silently sat on my chair while Edward, who sat adjacent to me, laughed. He tried to get my attention but I stayed unturned. 

“ What Mr. Siddharth, are you dumbfounded with our presentation? By now you should be aware that I will be the one to win the auction and why are you here even after knowing it ? “

I turn to him with a smirk “ let's wait for the result Mr. Edward “

“ Confidence.. sorry sorry over confidence.. kids these days.. “ he shakes his head while I just smile. 

“ dei lusu agitiya.. Avan patuku pesita poran nee amaithiya va Iruka ? “

( Have you become mad ? Why are you silent when he keeps on speaking ? ) 

“ Vidra machan.. vayasana kalathula ethachu olaritu poran.. “

( Let it go buddy, he is blabbering out of old age ) 

He opens his mouth to reply but the host gets our attention. She invites the state head of Global paradise and she walks up to the stage and addresses the gathering.

“ And now it's time for the winner to be announced “ there arises a commotion among others while I stay calm.

“ The winner is Edward pvt.ltd.. Congratulations Edward.. The bond for our deal will be signed at the party by evening “

The head gives a little more information before the meeting disperses. Everyone congratulates Edward while I sit with a smile finding him coming near me. 

“ Hello Mr.Siddharth, are you shocked out of your loss that you failed to move out of your seat ? He laughs.. I told you not to be overconfident.. Now look who is embarrassed ?  “ 

I stand and raise my hand and he steps with a jerk. I softly chuckle and correct my coat sleeve while he glares at me. 

“ Lets meet at the party Mr.Edward “ 

I say as I button my court and walk out of the place followed by James. 

Tamil pov 

I prepare lunch for Chithra ma as her husband and daughter are yet to return. After making lunch I leave to prepare the rooms for Vanthana’s friends. It was usual for them to stay here for a few days every six months. When I finished arranging the things it was already 4 in the evening. My Granny would already start rambling about me not having food. But I can't leave now. I had to prepare evening snacks for the guests. Deciding to convince my granny I left for the kitchen and started preparing a few snacks items. When I complete making those it is five thirty in the evening. I make tea and take some snacks along with it for a living. Chithra ma was watching some random serial on the television. I place the tray in front of her on the table and inform her about it. 

When I head to leave my house at least for a snack I hear a loud screeching noise outside. As I had guessed, Vandhana and her friends walk into the house with a loud noise. Chitra welcomes them all and hugs her daughter. 

“ Hey yen di pathutu nikara.. un kolli kanu patu enaku en ponnu ku ethachu agave ? “

( Why are you staring at us like this ? Should you get affected out of your eyes ? ) 

I quickly shake my head as no while Vandhana looks at me with an evil smile. 

“ Enna Tamizh uh.. nan pathu naala urula ilama.. nala kotitu kotitu thoongi irupa pola.. oru suthu perutha mari irukiya ? “

( What Tamizh.. did you just eat and sleep without being in the city.. it looks like you had put on some weight ? )

I look down at myself, I look so thin for a 19 year old girl. There were no muscles and only skin that had covered my bones. I would may be weigh around 40 kg or something but she is teasing that I had gained weight.

“ Apdi ella ethuvum illa ka “

( There is nothing like that's sister )

“ Hey yaruku yaru di akka.. Olunga madam nu kupdu “

( Who is you sister ? Call me mam )

“ seri mam “

“ Thangam nee yen da vanthu varama Ava kuda poi pesi neratha veen panitu iruka.. po neeyum un friends poi refresh avunga.. nan sapda kondu vara solaran.. “

( Why are you wasting energy by talking to her dear ? You and your friends go rest in your room.. I will send you some food ) 

“ Seri ma.. “ ( ok mam )  she says to her mother but glares at me and leaves to her room upstairs. 

 I left for the kitchen and made coffee for the guests. I arrange the coffee cups and snacks plates on the tray before I leave upstairs. 

When I reach her room the door is partially opened and I knock on the door. She turns to look at me and pulls a face and asks me to get in. 

When I walked forward I found a painting in her hand while her friends were talking dirty about the male model in the painting. 

When i was about to take the last step something hit my foot. Even though i tried to balance myself , the coffee cups spilled down. 

“ Hey you Idiot “ 

Only with her yelling did I come out of the shock and look at the painting in her hand. It's completely spoiled by the coffee poured on it. 

“ Ayoo Kadavule.. ithu enna puthu sodhanai.. “ I curse myself for being careless. She is definitely gonna create a drama now. 

( Oh my god, what's this new problem ) 

“ hey enna nee ellathayum kotitutu amaithiya nikara “  One of her friends asked.

( Why are you being silent after you spoiled it ?)

“ Illa mam athu nan.. Kaal thaduki.. “

( No mam, i slipped) 

Before I could complete I felt a stingy pain on my left cheek and my eyes were tearing up. 

“ Enna di pakara athu evalo costly ana painting theriyuma ? Nee patuku coffee ah kotitu pesama nikara ? Kannu theriyatha ? “ 

( What are you looking at ? Do you know how much the painting costs? You are staying silent after spilling the coffee, are you blind ? )

“ hey kannu therinja naala thena di, correct un painting mela koti iruka ? “ One of her friends says with an evil smile. 

(  She had purposely spoiled your painting but you are questioning her about her eyesight ) 

“ ayoo illa mam.. venum ella ethuvum panala “

( No mam, i did not do purposely)

“ Nee panuva di nee panuva.. unaku en mela poramai ah.. nan vechu iruka ellathu melayum porama.. unala ithu Ella vanga mudiyathunu poramai.. atha intha mari ethachu panita iruka “

( You will dare to do it… you are jealous of me, jealous of things I own, you are jealous because you are unable to buy the things I own.. that's the reason you spoiled my things )

“ Illa mam apdi Ella ethuvum illa.. nan yen poramai pada poran “

( No mam.. there is nothing like it.. why will I bev be jealous)

“ Hmm.. tho nee ippadi pichakari mari kiliju pona dress ah potu iruka apa nan matum nala alaga dress panran illa apa unakku poramai illamaya irukum “

( Why wouldn't you be jealous when I dress beautifully dress and you dress like a begger ) 

I sadly smile “ enaku en thaguthi enna nu theriyum mam.. athuku thagunga mari tha nan nadanthupan.. epavum ah nan thaguthiku meeri aasai pada matan.. “

( I know my place and worth mam.. I will act only with it in my mind.. I will never wish anything that's more than my eligibility )

As soon as I said it I was pulled back with a force that made me stumble and the same stingy pain hit my right cheek. My eyes tear up once again with pain and I look up to find Chithra in front of me. 

“ Enna di pathu naal ah vangama kulir vittu pocha.. en ponava ethuthu pesitu iruka.. nee aasai pada matan nu solara.. apa en ponnu thanguthiku meeri aasai padra nu solaraya ? “

( Have you become courageous these days that you are speaking against my daughter ? If you are not the one to desire.. are you insisting that my daughter is the one to desire above her eligibility? )

“ Nan antha mari ella ethuvum solala ma “

( No mam i didn't say anything like that )

“ Enna di kuda kuda pesitu iruka ? “ She tried to raise my hand but one of Vanthana's friends stopped her from holding her hand.

“ Niruthunga aunty.. “ she says in a loud tone but soon changes her tone… “ Athu illa aunty nanga enjoy pana vanthu irukom.. ipa vanthum varama ethuku mood spoil panitu athu naala tha solaran.. Venda aunty.. “

( Stop it aunty…. No aunty.. we are here to enjoy and not want to spoil our day… leave aunty )

“ Please aunty.. Ava enga poga pora innoru naal avala pathukalam.. I want to enjoy mothala avala clean panitu kelamba solunga.. “

( Please aunty… where will she go.. let's take care of her later.. no I want to enjoy the day.. so ask her to leave after cleaning )

She says in a tone like she is annoyed with me but only she and myself knows the truth. Even though she is a friend of Vandhana, she is a kind hearted girl. She will always save me whenever I get into trouble. But she acts like she is annoyed so Vandhana and Chithra would listen to her. 

“ Vandhana solu di.. “ she says to her while she glares at me. ( Tell her Vanthana )

Vandhana sighed and turned to her mother. 

“ Ask her to leave mom.. i don't want to face her for the night “ 

“ Hey enna di pathutu nikara po sutham panitu poi thola .. “

( Why are they silently standing.. go clean and get lost)

I nod and start cleaning the cups while others move out of the place. As I stand up I find the lady who helped me and whisper a thanks. 

She passed me a small smile without anyone noticing.

“ Inum Inga ninu ena di panitu iruka ?”

(What are you doing here ? )

“ Illa mam kelambitan.. “

( Nothing mam i am leaving)

I walk out of the room and once again send snacks through another maid.
