Chapter 7:: Assurance
Author's POV || 2009. 10. 09
You sighed and drank a glass of water, focusing back on your artwork. You sighed, closing it. It was 11 pm right now. It was a weekend and you were at home, drawing all day.
No contact with Taehyung. You felt a little empty today as if the day wasn't moving forward.
Nevertheless, you got up and went outside, hoping to eat something. With the side of your eye, you could see your father reading the newspaper. Noticing you, he spoke, "What are you doing now? It's 11 pm, what were you doing all this while?"
"Drawing." You simply replied, taking your plate of food and sitting down at the dining table, continuing to eat. You saw him opening his mouth with the side of your eye and sighed internally, knowing it was going to start.
"Could you ever do something better? I'm so bothered by this. If you have the least respect for your father, shouldn't you at least show me the results of this artwork? Will it ever help you in any way?" He mocked, and you quietly ate. Quietly, as always.
"Honey... let her eat." Your mother said, sighing. Your father snorted and focused on his newspaper as you finished eating, getting up.
After finishing the dishwashing, you went back to your room. You were still a little hungry, but you didn't have any mood to continue eating after all those mockings.
Sighing, you lay on the bed, opening the book, 'How to communicate well'.
You were reading it, trying to store the points inside you. It did have some helpful tricks which helped you to talk a little better in the past week. The change was very minimal, not even visible but you felt like your tries were improving. At least, you were reassured.
---Taehyung's house
Taehyung sat down and finished his music notes, smiling. He practised it one last time and checked the time, 11:30 pm.
"It's really late... gosh, I gotta sleep now," Taehyung spoke, getting up. He looked at the door of his mom's room. She was probably asleep already. He smiled, checked up on her and went back.
"I'll prove it to you... that I can do well." He spoke to himself, feeling confident about the music he was working on for months.
"Hey, dumbo." He heard his younger brother say and sighed, turning around.
"How come you haven't slept yet?!" He asked. The guy just smirked and said, "I'm Kim Taewoo. The Lord of the worlds. Don't order me to sleep."
"Sure, ThE lOrD oF ThE WOrLdS." Taehyung mocked as the 12-year-old sighed saying, "Hey, don't you have any friends other than Jimin and Jungkook?"
"Why?" Taehyung asked. Taewoo just sighed and said, "I have a play at school. So it's a play with Romeo and Juliet... I need 2 people with me. But, my friends are dumb. I think your friends would work but Jimin and Jungkook... no!"
"You and your nonsense... wait, Romeo and Juliet?"
"Yes. So if you have any female friends... please come and help me! I need to rehearse for my school play."
"I'll see.... go and sleep for now." Taehyung spoke, sternly as the boy sighed, walking into his room and saying, "Consider my offer Taehyung!!"
"Respect first!" He spoke and sighed, entering his room.
He sat down and smiled, looking at the small teddy bear on his desk. It was by you. While staring at it, his mind took him to the day when he got it from you.
---Flashback
"Hey, am I late?" Taehyung asked as you smiled shaking your head.
"Not really.. I'm early!" You said pointing at the sugary drink in front of you.
"You're starting to order it by yourself now? That's pretty cool! I told you my sugary drink was better than your bitter black coffee." He said, smiling.
"I only tried it once though." You spoke, referring to the black coffee.
He quickly sat in front of you and said, "So, why did you call me?"
"I don't know. I was bored at home." You said. He chuckled and said, "Good thing you called me, I was bored too! I had nothing to do." He lied, he was, in fact, very busy with his assignments. But he thought of pulling an all-nighter and meeting you for now.
He opened his mouth to say something but closed his mouth, noticing something on your bag.
"That's a very cute teddy!" He said, squealing. You looked at the teddy bear in your bag and said, "It's... do you like it?"
"Sort of? Where did you buy this fro-" He was talking but he looked at you, confused. You took off the teddy bear keychain and forwarded it to him saying, "Take it, then."
"Huh? Me..? You're giving this to me?" He asked as you smiled, nodding.
"Why not?" You asked. He was a little hesitant but as you said, "Well... I've had it for years so it's pretty precious to me. But you can have this."
He smiled saying, "For real then?"
"For real." You repeated. He noticed that you weren't joking. In fact, you were rather glad. He smiled and took it saying, "I'll make sure to keep this precious thing with me well? Thank you."
---End of flashback
The smile never left his lips as he inhaled your scent which was lingering on the teddy.
"I love this so much..?" He asked himself, playing with the teddy, pecking its face as he lay on the bed, excitedly.

You noted all the points written on the board and noticed everything the teacher was saying. A sigh escaped your lips as you looked around. Mina was absent today, so no one came to talk to you. You looked at the notebook which had all the notes and closing it, you got up.
It was going to be Taehyung's prom next year. You were wondering while walking through the corridor about how you could survive University after he left. It was definitely going to be hard.
"Y/N!!" You turned around to see Jimin and Jungkook, running towards you.
"Hey." You said, with a soft smile. They both smiled at you as Jungkook replied, "Umm, so we need to talk about something."
"Yes?" You asked, Jungkook and Jimin glanced at each other as Jungkook asked, "So... we have an assignment and... umm, so- it's about.. do you like cherry blossoms?"
"Cherry blossoms..?" You asked as they nodded.
"But... how is related to your assignment?" You asked. They both just stood there a little confused and said, "Umm.. just say if you like it or not?"
"I do, they're pretty."
"Okay, thanks! Umm... so- let's eat together? Taehyung might run a little late.. he's still in the music class. He got scolded badly by Mr Jae about his presentation. He definitely did good but that cranky guy just had to discourage him." Jimin blurted out as Jungkook nodded and said, "Let's go then? He'll skip lunch I know. But he didn't want you to- I mean, we didn't want you to eat alone so..."
"You're so bad at keeping secrets." Jimin glared at Jungkook as he gulped, looking away.
"He's skipping lunch?" You asked as JUngkook scratched his nape. Jimin sighed and said, "He never eats on days his mood is bad. He never listens to us, he gets mad instead."
"Umm... can I skip today? I might have lunch in class... from home." You spoke as they both awkwardly stood there but eventually nodded. You smiled and thanked him, bidding them goodbye. You walked back to your class and took out your little purse where you had some money. Basically, bus fare of the month.
You took the money and walked towards the little store in the University where you could get some snacks and stationeries if needed.
You remembered how he hated spicy and sour food, only sweets and sweets. You bought some snacks and chocolate milk.
"That's so much sugar." You said to yourself, sighing. Shaking your head, you walked towards his class. You felt a little awkward seeing the students on the floor he was in. These seniors were wild, for sure. Some were fighting like cats and dogs, some were just... making out as if it was the end of the world and some were roaming around, dancing and singing.
You stood in front of his class, peeking inside to see him, sitting there, playing his guitar. No one else was there, just him.
You stared at him, standing there quietly. He looked focused, serious, and irritated. The face of his you'd never seen before. You gently knocked on the door, standing near the music room's door. His attention went towards you as surprise took over him.
"Hey.." You spoke, waving. He just stared at you quietly, not responding. You knew he wasn't in a good mood, you didn't expect him to smile either. It was fine.
"Come in.." He spoke, a little baffled. You smiled and walked near him, keeping the bag beside him and said, "I heard that it's not good to skip meals even if you're not in a good mood. Your stomach didn't hurt you... right?"
He looked at the bag of snacks and then at you asking, "What's this?"
"Umm... I just don't want you to starve. Have something... there's nothing sour or bitter in here." You spoke, blinking innocently. He kept down his guitar and got up, staring at you. You just looked at him, raising your head a little as he was taller than you.
"Did those brats tell you?" He asked, sounding a little annoyed at them, not you. You just looked down saying, "I'm sure they wanted to keep it a secret.."
He sighed and shook his head before glancing at the bag and then looking at you. He tried to smile at you but he failed, he wasn't in a good mood at all, and the scolding never helped. You understood him, you knew how discouraging it felt to be scolded like that, you knew it well.
You took a step towards him and hesitated for a while but slowly, visibly putting your hands near his head, about to pat his head. You slowly forwarded your hands as if to ask for permission. It was obvious that you were going to touch him, he understood it but he didn't budge. Instead, he lowered his head a little, to make it easier for you. You gulped and placed your hand, slightly, touching his soft hair as you patted his head saying,
"It's fine... I don't know what he said but I'm sure that... whatever he said, he could never mean it. Because I've heard you sing before and I can assure you that... you really sing good and I believe that you'll do something really great if you try. So... don't skip meals, instead... eat better and... work harder and then you can prove him and his words wrong."
