Chapter 20:: Anytime
Author's POV || 2010. 01. 15
"Tae! This is wrong. You shouldn't do it like that!" You frowned as Taehyung stuck his tongue out at you saying, "I do not care! I want to do this that way!"
"The puzzle says otherwise!" You frowned harder. He shook his head, "No. I do not listen to what the puzzle says."
"God." You sighed as the scattered puzzle pieces lay all over the cafe table. Taehyung sat beside you, knowing well he was teasing you.
You both decided to solve a puzzle but knowing how easy you were to fool, he decided he could try doing that with you.
"You told me on the phone yesterday that you knew this! Now you're messing up." You sighed. He chuckled and said, "I was just teasing you, dumbo."
"Whatever." You moved away the wrong puzzle pieces, taking a sip of the drink as he smiled, admiring you. You noticed him and frowned asking, "What?"
"Nothing." He shrugged, looking away. You smiled and said, "You're handsome."
"Oh? W-What?" He looked at you shyly, his cheeks flushed red. You smiled and looked away, doing your work.
"What's your schedule today?"
"Hmm... nothing. I will go home and work on my recent art piece."
"Does your father still act like that?"
"Well... when did he not? He even barged into my room last night wanting to see if I even do anything but... yeah... I hid my work from him."
"When will you show him your talent?"
"Maybe... one day when I'm ready."
He tucked your loose hair strands behind your ear as you smiled a little. A sad smile.
"You know, yesterday me and mom fought... she was so stressed. Taewoo's been acting reckless and Mom wants me to take care of him. I just told her I was busy and that it'd take some time to tutor him and discipline him. She suddenly lashed out." He shrugged as you held his hand, looking at him sipping his drink.
"But, yeah... we'll probably make up today. I want to talk to her about Taewoo. Maybe... gonna clear up some schedules too?"
"Does Taewoo have art?" You asked. Taehyung nodded and sighed, "He's worst at that one."
You smiled a little and said, "Should I tutor him in art?"
"Ah, that's okay! You don't have to... I mean, he's a douche at times these days. Teenage rebelling, I think."
"It's fine. He's nice to me... hopefully. I wanted to tutor someone about arts actually. It'd be my experience." You said. He thought about it and said, "Only if you're free."
"Alright!"
A few days passed by and you were at Taehyung's house, tutoring Taewoo. Taehyung's mom expressed her gratitude and wanted to pay but you refused. This was just an act of love and gratitude, no money-making here.
"Noona, you're so pretty. Are you really not dating my brother?" Taewoo asked in the middle of the sketch as you bit your bottom lip.
"I hear you, idiot!" Taehyung's deep voice came from the other room as TAewoo sighed.
"He's eavesdropping, petty."
"I still hear you!"
You smiled a little and said, "Thanks for the compliment."
He shrugged with a grin and continued as you guided him through the pencil strokes. You taught him how to blend with a pencil and keep his hands firm during drawing. Almost 2 months passed by in this way and he surely learnt well.

"Taewoo. You drew so well." You smiled at the little boy in front of you. He grinned and said, "Of course, you taught me."
"Smooth with drawing and smoother with words," Taehyung whispered, sighing. You smiled at him and said, "Well, Taewoo. Let's be disciplined. Your brother's having a hard time with you, you know."
"Whatever." He sighed. You gave him a bar of chocolate which he gratefully accepted and walked out with Taehyung.
"You've been tutoring him for 3 days a week for 2 months now." He said, smiling. You nodded and said, "It's fun, actually. I can spend my free time on this."
"We have exams tomorrow, you know that, right?"
"Yeah... I know."
"I'm going to graduate soon. I can't wait, really." He grinned as you said, "It'd be nice if we graduated together."
"Truly. But... you know, I'm your senior."
"Yeah, whatever." You rolled your eyes as he scoffed playfully.
"Taewoo is a bad influence on you." You giggled and walked towards the fishcake stall nearby. Both of you bought some fishcakes and ate them while walking through the flower fields, lakes and Han River. It was nice.
You cracked a joke with him and he started laughing but stopped, holding his head.
"Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah... sudden head pain, nothing much."
"Ah... do you need water?" You didn't know why you suggested that thing. Water for headache? Sure.
"Yeah." He nodded as you gave him some water.
"Is it okay now?" He nodded hesitantly and continued walking as you checked up on him for some time.
You both talked a lot, enjoyed the silence, shared secrets, comforted each other, teased and gave advice to each other.
This was probably your last date before exams. The exams were soon, and your promotion to the next semester depended on it. It was even harder on Taehyung because he was in his last year.
After watching the sunset together, he walked you home. And as always, it hurt to say goodbye. You smiled, hugging him tightly, inhaling his scent as he placed a kiss on your forehead.
"Goodnight, Y/N."
"Goodnight, Taehyung."
You couldn't help but cup his cheeks, standing on your toes to place a kiss on his lips that turned into a 2-minute-long kiss later on. He smiled pulling away as the butterflies danced all over your body.
You waved at him and walked into your room, waving at him again through the window. He left afterwards and you smiled, looking at the canvas beside your bed.

"Mina, here!" You passed banana milk to Mina who was sitting on your bed. She came over to do artwork with you.
"Girl... are you serious? You drew such beautiful portraits!" She gasped. You smiled awkwardly saying, "Let's not talk about those..."
"You're so... in love."
You scratched your nape, sipping your banana milk.
She looked at her canvas that she brought to your house ad said, "The exams are in 3 days. I honestly know nothing of history and maths. All I did was draw."
"Well... just drawing won't get us anywhere." You shrugged. She sighed and looked at your beeping phone.
"He called."
"Oh..." You immediately cleared your throat, picking it up as she smiled. You went to the balcony and started speaking.
"Hello?"
"Hey Y/N! What are you doing?"
"Mina came over, we're studying."
"Wow, same... Jimin and Jungkook are at my house." You chuckled and said, "And they're being chaotic and Taewoo joined?"
"You guess it right." He sighed.
"Did you eat?" "Of course, I had chicken... and rice. It was good. You?"
"Yeah... Mina brought some pizza. We had it together."
"Pizza... let's go on a pizza date after exams."
"With our friends? Then sure."
"No, just us! Please."
"No, we are in too!" Jungkook shouted from the other side as you smiled.
"Well... I think I should go now. Make sure to eat all meals well and call me after Mina leaves, okay? I miss you..."
"I miss you too, Tae..." You smiled. You heard him cough and asked if he was fine but he shrugged saying it was just a random cough he had for a few days.
After hanging up, you entered the room to see Mina stuffing her face with snacks. You joined her as you both tried to prepare for the exams.
--At night
You sat at the dining table, eating your dinner when you saw your father pass by. Your mom looked at him and sighed, serving a glass of water to you. You thanked her and continued.
Your father sat down and said, "I heard your exams are in a few days. I want good results."
"Yeah..." You said, continuing to eat. He just shrugged and read his newspaper as you wondered how a nice supportive father would be. Unlike how Taehyung described his father, you couldn't help but see anything.
You looked at the phone beside you and looked at your father. He gifted a phone to you. It was nice.
But you might've not cared about it. Only if he smiled at you, asked you about your day and said it was fine no matter whatever results came out. Only if he supported what you loved, only if he understood.
But some things could not be changed. That was life. Not everything went our way. And for those that couldn't be changed, we just had to accept it with a smile and move on.

"Taehyung, are you okay?" Taehyung's mother asked as he nodded, sighing.
"Just tired..."
"Exams exhausted you a lot... didn't they?"
"Truly. I could feel all the exhaustion during exams. These days I feel so tired. I might need some good rest."
Taehyung entered his room and lay on the bed, looking at the clock. It was 5 pm right now. It was a 2-week vacation for summer and the semester would be over in 2 months. He took out his phone and called you. He missed you so much these days.
You, on the other hand, were sitting on the balcony, looking at the sky. Your father had been really rude these days. According to your mom, he had been losing a few deals at work and was grumpy because of that. But it wouldn't give him any right to misbehave with you.
Your eyes were teary and your heart ached. But as soon as you heard your phone ring, you wiped your tears and picked up.
"Hello."
"Hey Y/N! What were you doing? Am I bothering you?"
"Oh no... you're not. I'm glad you called."
"Anything wrong? You sound down."
You took a deep breath and sighed.
"Not really..."
"Lies." You shut your eyes and sighed, "Just... really. Trust me right now."
He didn't talk for a while and nodded, "Okay. I trust you. It's okay... whatever it is. Everything is fine."
You smiled a little and said, "Did you have lunch?"
"Yeah... beef bone soup. You?"
"Tacos."
You both continued talking as he said, "Let's meet?"
"Now?" "Yeah.."
"But it's late and you sound tired.."
"Well, I'm not tired. I'm energetic, come on! I'll be outside your house in a few minutes." He hung up as you looked at the phone flustered. You went inside your room quickly to get ready.
Taehyung got up and smiled, looking at the teddy you gave him last year. He took out a simple black t-shirt from his closet and wore it, walking inside the bathroom to comb his hair but instead, he ended up feeling a sharp pain in his head that escalated to the point, his nose was bleeding.
"What's wrong?" He whispered to himself, looking at the mirror.
He stood there, groaning in pain and abruptly turned on the sink, waiting for the droplets of blood to wash away. But almost 15 minutes later, he was okay, he felt better. So he went out.
As he met you, he almost forgot about the nosebleed incident. He walked you to the roads and bought you some food as you both enjoyed it while walking here and there, relaxing under the tree. You both watched the faraway sun setting down and walked home later on. He saw your mood lightening up with time. You didn't have to say anything, he could guess why you were sad.
He pressed a kiss on your forehead and the thought of current incidents rushed back to his mind. He pulled away and looked at you worriedly. He tried to forget that incident and waved goodbye to you.
He entered his home and looked at himself in the mirror. There was a strange fear inside him. He hoped he was fine.
He had to be.
