Chapter 2:: Purple flowers
Author's POV || 2009. 09. 16
"Hi!" Taehyung said, waving at you as you waved back. You smiled awkwardly at him. He just walked towards you and said, "Was it hard finding this place? This flower garden is not that popular."
"It wasn't that hard." You said, smiling a little. He nodded and said, "How was your day?"
What a casual question to ask someone on the second hangout..?
"It was... good. You?" You asked as he said, "Mine was also nice. I was waiting to meet you."
"Me..?" You asked as he nodded, chuckling.
"It's been a long time since I've made a friend. My old friends are boring, needed someone I got along with." He said and sat down. You just looked at him for a while before sitting beside him, on the ground, in front of you, in a big garden full of beautiful flowers.
"I love this place... it's so beautiful and peaceful." Taehyung said. You nodded and said, "I like the purple colour."
"You do? That's cool! All flowers here are purple." He said, smiling. You admired the flowers, sitting there. He turned his around towards you and looked at you, your face glistening under the dim light of the setting sun. Your face looked ethereal to him, he could feel his heart beating fast.
Your glistening eyes in the light while looking at the flowers were captivating him. You felt his stare on you and looked at him, making eye contact. Your heart was beating loudly, you could hear it. He was calm yet he looked like he was having havoc inside of him.
You looked away, shyly but he didn't look away. He was staring at you as if he was stuck on your face. But realizing that he had been staring for too long, he looked away, gulping.
"I.." He was trying to form words but his heated-up cheeks were the proof that it was nearly impossible for him.
Your cheeks became redder than the sky's shade. Some time passed by as you spoke, "Tell me... about yourself."
"Huh?" He asked, not expecting that question from you.
"I think... you should start by telling me about you. I don't know what to say..."
"Me? I'm pretty simple... I like sweets, pretty things are my chief attraction. I like to talk a lot, only with people I wish to. I have my mom and a younger brother who is the biggest devil in my life. He's very annoying. Unlike him, I'm a genius." He spoke, bragging about himself. You just listened to him wondering if he was even serious.
"And.. I want to know more about you." He spoke, pushing his bands to the side. You stared at him for a while before saying, "I don't know... about myself. I just like to spend my time doing art or reading comics. I also like to watch TV shows and... my favourite thing to do is sit down quietly and think. I don't have that much of a fun life."
"Then... you can include hanging out with me in your list." He said as you looked down saying, "We will hang out? Isn't it awkward..?"
"What's awkward?" He asked as you said, "I don't really have anything to say and we just sit down quietly."
"But I like your company. We can just sit down and hang out, I like to be with you." He spoke, softly.
You just looked down and said, "Should we get dinner together?"
"Sure!" He said, loving the idea. He quickly jumped up and forwarded his hand to you even before you could get up. You stared at his hand and then at him who smiled at you. You held his hand, getting up.
"How about... we go to the restaurant near the old field?" You asked as he said, "There is some good food there I've heard. Let's go!" He said. You nodded and smiled as you both walked towards that place.
With little chitchats, some laughter and a peacefully safe environment, you both walked towards the restaurant. Getting inside, you both sat down and you spoke, "Can I treat you? I want to pay you back for the drink."
"But that'd be too expensive? What if I order everything on the menu?" He asked jokingly. You just smiled a little and said, "Then I'd have to clean this place for the next 2 months, I guess."
He chuckled and said, "Don't worry, I wouldn't let you do that."
Soon, you both ordered and got the food. You took a bite of your dumpling as he looked at you before placing a piece of chicken on your plate saying, "I sort of figured you'd like it.."
"I do, thank you.." You lied. You didn't really like chicken, you preferred beef but still lied. You placed a dumpling on his plate and said, "This tastes good.."
"I don't like this at all but since you gave it to me, I'll eat it, happily." He said with a sincere smile as you stared at him amused. He was so different from you.
"And you shouldn't lie the next time, your face is obvious when you don't like something." He said as you looked down. It had been just 2 days since you knew him but he was making you feel like you knew him for years.
You smiled a little and looked down. He just looked at you, under the dim lights of the restaurant.
---Time skip
"See you." You said and waved at him as he smiled saying, "I'll drop you off every time we hang out so don't worry about the time."
"You noticed..?" You asked, a little amused. He chuckled and nodded.
"If you keep torturing your wristwatch... like that, anyone would. I'll make sure not to keep you out for long!" He said as you shook your head saying, "It's fine..."
"Go in..." He said, waving at you as you looked down, nodding. You waved back at him before turning around. He was ready to leave but stopped hearing your voice speak, "Thank you... it was my first time hanging out with someone."
"I'm always here if you want to hang out." He said, waving.
Lies. It was all lies, it was never always. All those words that left his mouth faded with time. He left, without any warning, he just left, leaving you devastated, all on your own.
