Hello all,After so long, I have written a one shot. It is based on real life incident of a lady. The OS is gloomy and I too had cried while writing it so read at your own discretion. Hope you all like it.

~Her first child~

She was very happy as her new life was standing in front of her with open arms. The moment for which every woman waits for her entire life was knocking at her doors. The moment when every woman feels herself complete was approaching towards her. She would be a mother soon in next coming month.

She was taken to the doctor for her monthly check up. She was lying on the bed and the lady doctor was examining her. She kept the stethoscope on her stomach just to check the heartbeat of the baby. The doctor scowled which clearly showed that something was wrong. Alka looked at the doctor who almost panicked and rushed out of the room. Alka was clueless. Her heartbeat increased and she started sweating. The doctor came back with other two doctors, they all examined her. After a few minutes, she asked Alka to come out of the room to her cabin. Alka was scared, she asked the doctor whether anything was wrong but the doctor just asked her to come to her cabin. She reached her cabin with her husband. All were scared. They all sat in front of the doctor.

"Alka and Sudhir, listen to me very carefully.", the doctor started.

"Doctor, is everything fine?", Sudhir, her husband asked.

"No, not exactly, it is something serious.", the doctor said after taking a deep breath.

"What is it?", He asked immediately.

"We have closely examined her and the fetus inside her is not.... Mmmmm we cannnn.... nnot hear the heartbeat of the fetus.", she informed with a lot of difficulty.

"Fetus? What is that?", Alka asked in confusion.

"I mean the baby. It's heart beat is stopped and the baby isn't moving inside too.", she further informed.

Alka and Sudhir broke down. Their world got shattered and broke into thousand pieces. Their hopes and happiness got vanished in that second. The doctor tried to console them.

"Sudhir, we need to operate her as soon as possible and take out the dead fetus.", The doctor said.

"Don't call it dead, Suniye, may be my baby gets alive after the delivery.", She said.

"It's not possible.", the doctor said.

"Buttt doctorrr...", she said looking at the doctor with hopeful eyes.

"Alka, you need to prepare yourself for this. Your baby is dead inside you. You anyhow have to deliver it, that means you are going to deliver a dead baby. But you cannot hold on for long. It is dead inside, so, you need to take it out soon.", she clarified.

The doctor gave the couple some time to think upon alone in the cabin. After some time, she came back.

"So, what have you thought?", she asked.

"I want to deliver the baby now.", Alka replied. Her face was expressionless but the remorse of losing a baby was clearly visible in her eyes.

"Are you sure?", the doctor asked.

"Yes."

"hmmm, We are preparing for the cesarean delivery. You have to come with us.", she said.

"I want normal delivery, doctor.", Alka replied.

"What? Are you sure? Why do you want to take labour pain for a dead baby?", the doctor asked in shock.

"So what if it's dead? It is still my baby. I want to go through the same pain.", she said very adamantly. Tears escaped out of her eyes. Sudhir too had started crying and the doctor felt a lump in her throat.

After a few hours, she was sitting on the bed in the ward allotted to her waiting to see the face of her dead baby. The nurse came inside and brought her dead infant wrapped in white sheet. She looked at Alka who was looking at her with hopeful eyes, she still had a hope that the baby would wake up and cry, but nothing happened.

"It was a girl.", the nurse informed her.

The nurse gave her the baby and came out of the ward leaving Alka to spend her last moments with the baby. She looked at her daughter's face and a smile crept on her face. She was so tiny, her eyes, nose, lips, tiny fingers... She looked completely like her father. She caressed her soft cheeks with her fingers and a lone tear escaped out of her eyes but a smile never left her lips. She actually became a mother. She was her first child, but her happiness drowned when she realized that she was dead in her arms. She thought of giving it a last try. She shook the baby a little hoping that she would wake up and open her eyes but nothing happened. She then finally told herself that her baby would never be back. She smiled again but tears never left her eyes. She hugged her daughter for the first and may be for the last time. Her aroma was unusual but still known to her. She then kissed her forehead, showering all her love and blessing over her. And then she cried out loudly as finally the time came when she had to part with her daughter forever but she will always be her first child.

Tears never left her eyes and smile never appeared on her lips.
