22| Not A Joke
Roark's POV 🪨
When I was done, I laid back down to get some rest, as y/n helped out a bit by tucking me in.
"I'll have a doctor come over and do a check up on you later, is that alright?" She says as she looks at me.
"Yeah." I replied.
Y/n smiled in return before leaving the room, as I closed my eyes, easily drifting off into sleep.
It wasn't until a few hours later when I woke up and heard y/n talking to someone on the other side of the door.
Then a knock was heard before y/n opened the door and stepped in the room with a male doctor following behind her.
As for my pokémon, and the three guardians, they left the room and went over to y/n's.
After saying something to the male doctor, y/n left too and closed the door behind her, leaving me in the room with the doctor.
Like usual, the doctor started things off with a small interaction and a check up on me, before asking me some questions.
As I already told y/n, I told the doctor what happened a few hours earlier.
"Does your abdomen still hurt?" He asked.
"Yeah, but, not as painful as it was before." I answered.
"I think I know what it is then..." He says.
I gave him a confused look before the doctor whispered in my ear what it is.
My face paled after I heard it.
"You're kidding..." I said in disbelief. "That's impossible."
"Unfortunately, it's no joke. It's happened to other men before, but, it's rare..." The doctor replied as he sighed a bit.
"I'll give you your next appointment. But, I strongly recommend being careful when doing anything like mining for example."
Then he wrote down the date and time for my next appointment before giving the slip of paper to me and taking his leave.
When he left, y/n came in the room and asked me if everything was alright, after seeing my paled face.
I shook my head a little, still in shock.
"What's wrong?" Y/n asked.
Not wanting to tell her what the doctor actually told me, I lied and made an excuse to avoid being asked more questions.
When it comes to lying, I'm half good but mostly half bad at it. Luckily, I was good at it this time.
Nodding in understanding, y/n could only squeeze my hand gently in response before kissing me on the cheek and leaving the room.
Just as she left, Uxie came into the room and went over before sitting next to me on my pillow.
"Hey, what's up?" I say as I looked over at it before petting it.
"You know you have to be honest with her, Roark..." Uxie suddenly speaks telepathically to me, which startled and surprised me a little, before I remembered that some of the psychic type pokémon can interact with us, by using telepathy.
"I know..." I sighed wearily as I looked at Uxie. "But, I'm too nervous to tell her. She might think I hate her, even though I never did!"
"Is there a way you could address this to her, without making y/n upset and think stuff like that?" Uxie asked me.
"I don't think so..." I replied before gently cuddling them, as Uxie cuddled me back in return.
"I feel like I should wait this out first and then tell her later..."
"But, that'd only make her more worried about you."
"Yeah, I suppose you're right. I guess we'll just have to play it out and see how it goes..." I went before giving Uxie another gentle hug again.
"I'll explain everything to y/n when it's over."
Nodding in understanding, Uxie smiled a bit at me before we parted the hug.
Then they teleported themself out of the room.
For two months, everything seemed normal and perfectly fine...No medical problems going on with me or anything like that.
During the times I had the gym open to battle the young challengers, Y/n would watch me from a distance in amusement...Almost like she's studying me and my battle strategies.
But, when it came to fangirls, she'd get jealous and overprotective right real quick if they got too close to me.
"I'm starting to wonder if the doctor was bluffing after all and maybe was just trying to scare me?" I thought to myself as I was at the Underground, digging for some fossils and treasures, while y/n was doing the same on her end but in a different part of the Underground.
She still does have a long way in completing her National Pokédex, that Professor Rowan gave her after all, once she became a champion.
After finding some things, I seemed to have gotten my answer to my thoughts a few seconds later, because I was suddenly hit with nausea and a wave of vertigo.
Quickly going into my secret base, I could only walk over and sit down on the ground with my back against the wall, while setting my pickaxe and hammer aside.
"Please just make the nausea and vertigo go away..." I groaned, feeling the need to lie down for a bit.
Unfortunately, it didn't go away after several minutes had passed.
Taking my pokéball out from my pants pocket, I tossed it, letting my Lycanroc out.
At first, he was a bit happy until he noticed that something's wrong with me.
Walking over and going behind me, Lycanroc laid down on the ground before looking at me, obviously giving me the gesture to lay my head down on him.
"I-Is it really okay to?" I asked him.
Lycanroc nodded in response before I smiled a little and took my mining helmet off.
"Thanks, bud..." I said before resting my head down on him, feeling warmth and softness from his fur.
Then I easily fell asleep after taking my glasses off.
For a while, I didn't wake up until I heard a voice, someone obviously calling my name out.
"Roark..."
Rolling over, I buried my face in Lycanroc's fur in response to that, not wanting to wake up.
Then I felt Lycanroc nudge me a little, making me sigh wearily after I opened my eyes and putted my glasses back on.
"About time you're awake...We've been looking for you for hours." I heard y/n say.
