Forty-six

The drive back home had seemed like it was longer then the drive going up. I'd spent the two hours napping with my head on Harry's shoulder, while trying to tune out Gemma's and Caesar's constant bickering happening in the backseat. It was getting ridiculous, but I was sure something had gone down between them last night considering how much tension I could feel rolling off of them. I was tempted to ask Caesar when we returned to New York, that is if I got a moment alone with him.

Feeling Harry's shoulder slightly nudge me, I opened my eyes and looked up at him. He grinned down at me, green eyes sleepy as he pushed a strand of my messy hair back. "We're here at your apartment."

I sat up, the bones in my back cracking as I moved and stretched my arms over my head. A whine came out of my mouth and Harry chuckled, while Lila turned from the passenger seat to look at me like I had a second head. I laughed, shrugging before the car came to a sudden halt against the curb right in front of mine and Lila's apartment complex. "Home sweet home. Can't wait to sleep." I sighed dreamily, unbuckling my seat belt and following Harry out of the car. Night had fallen and the air outside nipped at my bare arms, making me shiver but I ignored it. Moving to the back of the car, I waited for Anthony to unlock the trunk and reached for my bag but Harry snatched it before I could. Glancing over at him, I found him smirking and sending me a wink. "I've got it, my lady."

"You guys are excruciatingly cute it's sickening." Lila commented, practically shoving her body between us so she could pick up her bag. She narrowed her eyes at Anthony, holding it up in waiting. He stood there looking at her confusedly and Harry snickered when her eyes glowered at him. "Be fucking cute Anthony and take it for me."

"Oh!" His eyes widened and he instantly moved forward to take her bag from her, cheeks turning red as he smiled at her guiltily. "Sorry, babe."

"Mhm." She patted his chest and turned on her heel, passing Niall and Amanda who had also climbed out of the car by now. "See ya, Niall. It was good to meet you Amanda!"

"You too." She smiled sweetly before her attention came back to me and Harry, who still stood at the back of the car. She moved forward, mumbling an 'excuse me' before picking up her own backpack. Shrugging it over her shoulders, she adjusted her hair and smiled at Harry and I once she was done. "I'm going to walk to the subway from here and head home. It was really nice to spend time with you guys."

"Yeah it was. We should hangout soon, just me, you and Lila." I smiled and she eagerly nodded, her face lighting up before she moved to exchange a quick hug with me. Harry gave her one as well and I bit my lip in amusement when he sent her a smile that made her cheeks flush. I couldn't blame her, my boyfriend was a babe.

"Bye." She waved once more and I returned it, watching her head down the sidewalk but Niall reached his hand out to lightly grab her arm. She looked up at him in surprise and he smiled, his cheeks turning a little pink.

"Uh, I'll go with you. I don't want you walking at this time of night alone. It's not safe." He told her, while I tried not to show my proud smile. Amanda's eyes widened even more and she smiled. I noticed a small dimple on the right side of her cheek and apparently, I wasn't the only one staring at it. Niall's eyes practically zoomed in on it and I could not have been more happy to see a smile of his own growing on his face as he stared at her.

"You don't have to."

"I want to."

Amanda nodded in acceptance before Niall mumbled something to her I couldn't hear, then turned to Harry and I. His face was light as he moved around us to grab his bag, turning to face me afterward with a small smile. "See you Tuesday in class?"

"Of course."

He nodded and hesitated for just a brief second before moving to give me a hug. It lasted for only two seconds and he pulled away, moving his eyes to Harry as he held his fist out to him. Harry bumped it with his own and Niall grinned in relief. "Later, mate."

"Later." Harry nodded, giving him a closed lip grin that had his dimple appearing in his cheek. Niall sauntered back to Amanda and I was screaming internally in excitement when he took her backpack for her before they walked off.

Harry looked down at me with a look of relief at seeing Niall trying with Amanda, but his smile was short lived when the voices of his sister and Caesar reached our ears. It fell off his face and I followed him when he walked around the car, only for us to see Gem and Caesar shoving each other out of the way so they could exit the car first.

"You do know there's another door." I pointed out, arching my eyebrow when they both suddenly halted. Caesar blinked and Gemma took the opportunity to shove him back, making him fall to the floor of the car before she hopped out of the car. A huff coming out of her mouth as she readjusted her clothes and flicked her hair back.

"Doesn't matter now." She shrugged and I tried not to laugh when Caesar sat up from the floor of the car, his eyebrows furrowed tightly and his mouth in a frown.

"Bitch."

"Hey." Harry pointed a forefinger at Caesar. "That's my sister."

"Your sister is a bitch." He said, climbing out of the car while Harry frowned but said nothing more.

"Bite me."

"Wouldn't you love that gringa."

Gemma gasped. "I am not a white-,"

"Okay, stop." I interuppted and walked around the back of the car, quickly grabbing Gemma's and Caesar's bags. Once I had them, I walked back around and practically threw them at their faces. They caught them, wide eyes and surprised as I shooed them away. "Go home. I'm tired of you two."

"¡Princesa!" Caesar gasped and I rolled my eyes when he put a hand to his heart. "¿Como pudiste?"

"Me estas molestando." I crossed my arms. "Go home."

He pouted fakely and I arched my eyebrow at him, not buying it at all. When he saw I wasn't budging, he dropped the act and smiled as he shrugged carelessly. "Fine, mi mama wants me home anyways." He sighed, and his gaze slid to Gemma reluctantly. "Want to share a cab?"

"Why would I want to get in another enclosed space with you?" She narrowed his eyes at him and he rolled his.

"I'm offering so you don't have to pay the whole thing on your own. We can split the cost, plus we're heading the same place anyways."

Gemma thought it over for a moment and she grumbled before nodding her head. "Fine."

"Great!" Harry smiled and waved at the two of them. "Off you two go!"

Gemma narrowed her eyes at Harry. "Could you be anymore rude?"

"Yes." He grinned and gave her a brief hug before pushing her down the sidewalk. "Now go hail a cab."

She rolled her eyes and I waved to her, a small grin on her lips as she waved back and turned down the sidewalk. Caesar ran up to give me a quick hug, mumbling about how if he didn't follow her she'd probably leave his ass behind. I didn't doubt that she would either. Watching him run down the sidewalk, I laughed in amusement before shaking my head and moving to close the trunk of Anthony's car. I turned towards the entrance of the apartment complex, walking up to it beside Harry. He held the door open for me but she before I could walk in, Anthony came walking out with Lila. Another bag of clothes in her hand.

"Where are you headed to?" I asked and she flushed, biting her lip as she stole a glance at Anthony.

"I'm sleeping at his tonight. You're okay by yourself right?"

"I'm going to stay with her," Harry chimed in before I could respond. "She'll be okay."

"Alright." She grinned and waved as she walked off with Anthony. "See you tomorrow!"

"Bye." I waved, walking through the entrance afterward with Harry trailing behind me. We made it into the elevator, me leaning my head on his shoulder tiredly as we waited for it to reach my floor. He managed to throw an arm around my shoulder, while his other arm held both my bag and his. Bending down, he pressed a kiss to my head just as the elevator doors opened to my floor.

"I'm exhausted." I told him as we walked down the hall, my hand reaching for my keys that were somewhere in my purse. I dug for them when we got to my door and pulled them out, shoving them into the lock before pushing the door open.

"Me too." He sighed as I held the door open for him to enter. I tossed my keys on the table near the door and Harry made a beeline for my room, dropping our bags on the floor before he threw himself on top of my bed. He groaned as his head hit the pillow, his arms curling beneath it to hug it to his face. I laughed, moving across the room and climbing onto the bed. Throwing a leg over him, I straddled his back and leant down to kiss the nape of his neck.

"Have I ever told you how adorable you are?"

"You might of mentioned it." His tone was teasing and he swiftly turned around, causing me to fall on the bed beside him. Before I had a chance to speak, he was rolling on top of me. A cheeky grin on his face as he looked down at
me. "But I think you and I both know how unadorable I can be too."

"You're right, it's not so adorable when you fart."

He snorted and chuckled deeply, burying his face into my neck when he planted a kiss. "But you still love me, don't you?"

"Very much." I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and hugged him, kissing the side of his head. He sighed and slid his arms beneath me, hugging me back. His  body laid over mine and surprisingly enough, he wasn't crushing me. He felt like a blanket instead, keeping me warm and comfortable.

"You're not doing anything this weekend, are you?" He asked out of nowhere, lifting his head to look me in the eye. I furrowed my eyebrows and shook my head.

"No, why?"

"It's Louis' wedding on Saturday," he whispered and smiled down at me, dimples piercing his cheeks. "Be my date?"

"Of course." I grinned and peck his lips. "Does that mean I get to see you in a suit?"

"Well I am the best man."

"So I do." I grinned widely, excited at the thought of seeing Harry all dressed up. He looked good in a plain t-shirt in jeans, I wouldn't doubt the sight of him in nice attire would probably make me swoon.

"Yes, love." He rolled his eyes. "We have to be there at three in the afternoon since I've got to take pictures with them. Is that okay?"

"That's fine." I yawned right after, my eyes feeling heavy with sleep. Harry chuckled and leant his head back on my shoulder, turning his face into my neck as he pressed a kiss there. Minutes passed and I felt myself slipping into unconsciousness. Harry's slowed breaths allowed me to believe he was also falling asleep, but then I felt a vibration against my hip. My eyebrows furrowed before I peeled my eyes open, looking at Harry when he groaned and lifted his head.

"What is that?"

"My phone." He grumbled, slipping his hand between us and shoving it into his pocket. He pulled his phone out, eyes squinting as he unlocked the screen and read it. I watched him as he did, my eyebrows furrowing when he suddenly loss any lightheartedness on his face. He pressed his lips in a firm line, then moved his fingers across the screen quickly before locking it. He glanced at me, then quickly looked away and rolled off of me right after.

"Who was it?" I asked and pushed myself up on my elbows when he sat up, throwing his legs over the edge of the bed.

"Cameron. She's hounding me about going to the gym with her, so I'm going to go for awhile."

"Right now?" I asked confusedly, sitting up when he got to his feet and shoved his phone back in his pocket. "It's almost nine."

"I know, I'll be back before midnight." He said but his voice sounded tight and something about it was just off. I watched him carefully as he turned around and sent me a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. Leaning over and placing his hands on the bed, he brought his face close to mine. "Go to sleep, I'll be back before you know it."

"Why do you have to go tonight?" I asked in a whisper. He had been ready to fall asleep but the moment he got a text from Cameron about the gym, he's up and ready to go meet with her? I trusted him, I didn't think he was going behind my back or anything it just didn't feel right.

"I've been putting it off for days, so I can't slack off now." He told me and pecked my lips before I could respond. "Can I borrow your key? I swear I'll come back right after."

"Yeah, I left it on the table near the front door." I mumbled and he nodded, pulling back to stand up straight again. "You won't be long will you?"

"No, I'll try to be quick." He moved across the room, giving me his back and the way he had so abruptly turned his face away raised my suspicions. Watching him as he bent down to pick up his bag, my gut twisted uneasily. He pulled my bedroom door open but paused before he walked out, looking over his shoulder at me and giving me a small smile. "I love you, baby."

"I love you, too." I grinned back at him but it fell the moment he left the room. Because although I trusted Harry with everything in me, my gut was telling me that he was hiding something from me. Whatever it was, I just hoped it wouldn't tear us apart.

Kind of a filler chapter! The next one should be longer, I'm sorry for the long wait. Between school, work, updating other stories, and taking up drawing again, I've been super busy. Thank you for being patient though!!

Questions:

What was Harry's text about?

Is Em going to find out what Harry's hiding?
