Prologue

Just a FYI guys. You can skip the prologue if you want. This chapter helps you get an idea who Rebecca is but it's not totally necessary to know.

The kingdom of Lumina was a place of tradition where the ruling family, House Alaric, resided. Princess Rebecca, the daughter of King Cedric and Queen Isabella, was the heir to the throne, born into a world of privilege and responsibility.

But within the palace's walls and the kingdom's intricate social hierarchy, lay a secret that could shatter the very foundation of Lumina's traditions. Princess Rebecca was an omega – a designation that, despite her noble birth, relegated her to a position of supposed inferiority in a society deeply entrenched in outdated norms.

Amidst the tradition, Princess Rebecca yearned for a life where she could embrace her omega heritage without shame, where love could flourish regardless of societal constraints. Rebecca was burdened with the weight of her lineage and the expectations of her future role as queen, even as her own identity was stifled.

Rebecca navigated courtly intrigues and diplomatic negotiations with royal elegance; however, her every move scrutinized by both her parents and the court. The struggle to conceal her omega status was a dance of deception, and the fear of discovery was a constant fear.

Omegas were deemed unfit for ruling or decision-making, their roles confined to marrying alphas for political alliances or betas for the continuation of noble bloodlines. Their natural inclinations for compassion and empathy were suppressed in favor of playing the roles assigned to them.

Rebecca had managed to keep her true identity hidden, ensuring that her omega scent was masked through careful measures. The risk of exposing her status in a society where omegas were undervalued and underestimated was far too great.

Her trusted confidants, including her loyal handmaiden Elara, knew the truth. Elara had been a constant presence throughout Rebecca's life, a friend and confidante who knew the princess's deepest secrets and troubles.

From a young age, Rebecca sensed the weight of her parents' disappointment, though they rarely spoke of it openly. King Cedric, a stern and pragmatic alpha, prioritized the stability and reputation of the kingdom above all else. Queen Isabella, although kind-hearted beta, felt constrained by the expectations of her role and the weight of tradition.

As an omega, Rebecca was deemed lesser by societal norms, a reality that clashed with her parents' ambitions for the kingdom's future. They harbored concerns that her omega status would limit her potential to uphold their legacy and navigate the complex political life of Lumina. Therefore, they were harsh on Rebecca throughout her childhood.

They raised her to be a proper princess, with grace and poise instilled in her from a young age. And although the princess was scrutinized, from an early age, she exhibited qualities that set her apart.

Her inquisitive nature led her to explore the palace's extensive library, where she delved into history, literature, and politics. Those quiet moments spent among the pages of books became a sanctuary where she could escape the pressures of courtly life and explore the depths of her own interests. When no one was around, she delved into the tales of love stories where she longed to experience one day.

Her parents, recognizing Rebecca's potential and determination, encouraged her pursuits beyond the conventional realm of palace life. They ensured she received an education in diplomacy, strategy, and statecraft, instilling in her the values of leadership that would be required of a future queen.

She understood the intricacies of alliances, trade agreements, and political negotiations. Her sharp mind and compassionate heart endeared her to the court where she gained respect and admiration. Yet, beneath the polished façade, she concealed her omega status and therefore, she was scared that the respect she had now, would fall once her identity was revealed.

And despite her efforts, Rebecca struggled to earn her parents' approval. Each achievement was met with muted acknowledgment, as if her omega status was a stain that marred her accomplishments. The harshness of her parents' scrutiny in her childhood fueled a fire within Rebecca.

Rather than succumbing to their disappointment, she channeled her energy into becoming the best version of herself. Beneath her regal façade, Rebecca's compassion remained a driving force. She listened to the concerns of the courtiers, empathized with their struggles, and sought to make a positive impact wherever she could. Her interactions with the people of Lumina endeared her to the kingdom, as her genuine interest in their well-being transcended her royal status.

With each accomplishment, each milestone, Rebecca's resolve grew stronger. The muted acknowledgments from her parents only fueled her desire to prove her worth, not just as a future queen, but as a person with dreams and aspirations that extended beyond the throne. She had learned to navigate the complexities of courtly life, to wear the mask of a princess even as she concealed her omega status.

Rebecca stood out as the most visible member of the royal family in public settings. Diverging from the rest of her family, she helped out at orphanages, distributed food and warm coverings during the winter, and made formal visits to numerous villages, all while carrying the mantle of the Crown upon her shoulders.

She visited orphanages, not just for the sake of appearances, but to engage with the children and ensure their well-being. Her presence brought smiles to their faces, and her genuine interest in their stories left an indelible mark. The distribution of food and winter coverings wasn't a distant obligation; it was an expression of her care for the less fortunate. Villages that rarely saw royal attention were graced by her visits, where she partook in formal ceremonies and discussions, truly listening to the concerns of the people.

The people of Lumina adored their Princess for more than her title and held her in high esteem, not just for her royal status, but for the kindness and authenticity she brought to her role. She was known to walk among them without an air of superiority, and her visits were anticipated events that brought a sense of unity and pride to the kingdom.

They saw her not as just a distant figure on the throne, but as a compassionate and approachable leader who genuinely cared for their well-being. Her actions spoke volumes, and her connection with her subjects went beyond duty—it was a genuine bond that united the kingdom in admiration and respect.
