The Perfect Date
The entire week was a complete terror as I thought that the days couldn't possibly go any slower than this, the wait for the date was even worse. Since we had a lot of work to do in the office, Eugene thought it better to go on a date during the weekend and it was the perfect idea.
But today is finally the day, I know I see something in his eyes for me and I just needed to hear it from him directly. I hear the doorbell and immediately run down from my room hoping that it is Eugene but it wasn't.
Jake hugs me and enters in followed by Vivian who literally takes the breath out of my body with her hug, I called Jake over to look after Matty while I'm out and what'd you know, he called Vivian. I serious can't wait any longer for these to start dating already, at least I know someone will have a more proper status than me who is stuck with complicated.
We originally thought of dinner but Eugene said he would pick me up at two in the afternoon and it's already one, so I quickly head on towards my bathroom while I hear Jake and Vivian bicker over which movie to watch.
Not gonna deny I did spend half the time daydreaming about how the date would be and what all did he have planned for us. I get out the shower and look myself in the mirror, my towel dropped to the floor and eyeing my bruise which is almost gone, I don't think I'm ever going to forget about my first fight that I lost.
I throw out any negative thoughts and concentrate on the task at hand which was getting ready, I didn't want to look overly dressed and definitely not under so I go with a navy blue cold shoulder skater dress with the same shade ankle strap heels, paired with my sling that consist of the essentials and mild makeup.
I walk down the stairs into the living room and spot Eugene on the couch, hearing my heels tap he looks at me and gets up. I could clearly see his stunned expression but it was soon replaced with a smile.
"You look nice" he says pecking me on the cheek.
I return the smile "You look good too."
Surprisingly, we sort of matched. He was wearing a white shirt, paired with his navy blue suit, along with his black shoes, watch in his left wrist and the always ring that he keeps wearing. Definitely going to ask about that soon!
I wave at Jake and Vivian before following Eugene out the door and into his car, we drive out of my area and he continues on an unfamiliar path.
"Listen, I'm sorry."
I furrow my brows "Sorry for what?"
"I planned a proper dinner but then something came up and I have to attend the function at home so we're we're going there now" he says his eyes fixed on the road.
"Your house?" I question looking at him wide eyed.
He nods.
"Am I dressed okay?"
He chuckles "I just screwed our date and you're worried about the way you look, can't you be a proper girlfriend and throw a fit, yelling at me to stop the car and then storm out and then have me get out as well and beg for my mistakes on my knees on this highway that is filled with traffic?"
I couldn't help the loud laugh that grew from the depths of my stomach and echoed the entire car and probably a few more around us.
"You can be real cute sometimes" I say in between my laughs and he looks at me with a smile of his own.
"And of course I would worry about the way I look, we're going to be around your parents after all" I say as I try to control the laughing fit that I just had.
He faces forward, his eyes back on the road "Don't worry, you look perfect."
I think my smile right would probably outgrow my face if it could but luckily it doesn't, any compliment from him can set a zoo out in my stomach and I knew it was always genuine.
"Besides, I don't think the party will be that boring. I mean, the first we went to was so entertaining with a lot of drama" I say mockingly.
He chuckles "Hey that's all on you. You were the talk of the party."
I shrug my shoulder and attached the aux cable to my phone, blaring Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. Eugene protests at first with the volume but eventually lets it go once we had a rumble with the stereo volume button.
We pull into a long drive way to the gates, with many other cars behind and around us. Eugene lowers my side of the window as we pull up to the gates.
A man wearing a black suit and a notebook in his hand, turns to me and asks "Guest?"
"No but you will be once I fire you" Eugene says and the man in black, bends down, peering into the car.
"Eugene!" he exclaims "Go right in boss!"
Eugene gives him a smile and he drives on the gravel path ahead of us.
"So boss or Eugene?" I question.
"I don't like being called boss by the people who work for me, Eugene fits just fine" he says.
"It sure does" I mutter to myself, turning my head toward the side as the huge mansion falls into view. We get off and Eugene hands the keys to his valet, we make our way into his gorgeous home and I can't help my jaw from hanging low, a little more and it would definitely be on the ground.
I can't even begin to imagine how people had the money to live in such lavish homes with the marble flooring and the pillars of marble that lay on either side of the entrance, the long stair way in front of me leading up to the second floor that had more rooms that my fingers could count and more stair ways on extreme ends of the floor. The backyard, a luscious forest, with grass all over the middle that was now decorated with the chairs and tables, an out-house that look as big as my own home.
I thought royals would the only ones with such houses but clearly I'm wrong, their mansion must be even huger, my jaw was still hanging low when I felt Eugene nudge it with his index finger.
"You're drooling" he says and I quickly wipe the thin line of slime from my lips, expected a Jones to drool over houses rather than men.
We walk to the court yard and meet with his parent, his mother hugs me and his father nods, I return both back with much the same smiles. I look around and spot William sitting at a table.
I pull onto Eugene's blazer and he looks down at me.
"Why is William here?" I question still looking in his direction.
"He is always invited to my house parties."
I laugh "My house parties include a crate of beer, a lot of food, Vivian and a pitch perfect marathon."
"We can do that sometime at my place but without the pitch perfect marathon." He smiles.
Come to think of I haven't been to his apartment and I would be lying if I said that I wasn't curious. The party lasts until evening and it definitely kept getting boring as Eugene got busy meeting with some of the people his father introduced him to, leaving me alone with strangers at a table. William did look at me once and ofcourse ignored.
I move away from the table and walk back into the halls of his mansion, trying to find his room but I know I can't do it so I make my way to the second floor, into a balcony which lead out into the court yard, I looked down at all the people chitchatting, laughing, some probably gossiping and other hogging on their pile of food.
I can't imagine my life as such but I wouldn't mind, I look at Eugene and notice him searching for me. After a while my phone rings and I answer it.
"Look up" I say, his eyes dart at the surrounding and then at the center balcony, he smiles and disappears down below, I talk back into the phone but he already hung up. After a while I feel two big strong arms wrap around my body and Eugene's forehead resting on my shoulders.
"I'm so sorry, this is the worst date ever."
I turn around and feel his arms wrap around my waist and I wrap mine around his neck "Its alright." I smile.
This position reminded me of our time in the cabin, the words he directed at me about not being able to stay away from me. I wanted to hear more of it tonight but I don't think today is our day.
His eyes searched in mine for something, I just didn't know what.
"Come on, lets ditch this party and go." He says pulling me with him as we walked out the doors of the mansion and drove off, the place he took me for not at all far from his home, only about twenty minutes away. He parks the car on the side of the road and we make our way down a muddy path between the tall beautiful trees, the path was lit with fairy lights. I held my heels in my hand and walk bare feet, feeling the chilliness of the atmosphere from the cold ground.
We come at a dock that was probably used for fishing or the ferry transport but it seemed long abandoned but it was beautiful, the fairy lights were on the wooden bridge that floated on sticks above the water.
"How did you find this place?" I ask amazed.
"I found it when I was a kid, this was a ferry dock but the old man who drove the ferry passed away, leaving his ferry to rust and this site to be abandoned. It used to take us to that island, it's an unnamed island so we used to go there in secret and so did some of the tourist" he snorted a laugh as he recalled the unforgettable memory.
"It's beautiful!" I say.
"Yeah like you."
I turn around and look at him as his makes his way closer to me.
"What are you doing to me Jones?" he looks into my eyes. "You're stealing my heart away and I don't think I can do anything to stop you."
"Then aren't you lucky it's me." I smile, our faces so close to each other. I could feel his breath on my lips.
He smiled "I like you Jade." Saying this he presses his lips on mine, his hand in my hair, his body leaving no space between us.
And only him on my mind.
