Sneak Attack!
Vivian had everything under control; her plan was successful. However, she would face the wrath of my anger after our trip was over.
She made sure to get extra mattresses for the one cabin we had selected together. When I happened to glance at the register book, there were six names under our cabin, and I knew she had been planning this all along while I sat around, packing for an amazing girls' trip.
But alas, I couldn't do anything now that they were already here.
The journey was undoubtedly the most awkward; we hardly spoke, and Jake noticed the rift between Eugene and me. His eyes asked for an explanation when I looked at him, but I told him that I would explain later, although I didn't want to tell him.
Besides, what would I tell him? My boyfriend is avoiding me because he kissed me, and I let him?
Eugene wasn't like those typical bad boys; it was confirmed when he kissed me. Sure, he's had many girlfriends, smokes, drinks, but he wasn't rude or ignorant, at least not to us.
Sure, he used to be an uptight asshole of a child, but I think that was mostly influenced by his parents.
He lives alone in a simple flat, doesn't show off his money too much like he used to, and I think he seems much better off now. Like he suddenly grew some brains.
Although it doesn't change the fact that many girls still fawn over him, either for his money or his looks. For some reason, I think of all the good things Eugene has in him so that my people can accept him.
When Vivian got tired of driving, either Eugene or Jake would take over, leaving me to sit in the same seat since I didn't know how to drive. We finally reached our destination after five intense hours of driving, and all three of them already looked like the walking dead.
"How did you even contact Jake?" I asked as we made our way to the cabin.
"We exchanged numbers the day you went missing," she said, air-quoting the word.
I rolled my eyes and looked back at Eugene, who was following with his backpack on and carrying my bag in his hands, the other hand in his pocket.
We made eye contact, but he immediately looked away.
Was he going to ignore me this entire trip? I looked at Jake, dragging his suitcase behind him and walking with Matty. I carried Rose in my arms since she slept throughout the journey.
We entered the cabin, which was closer to the beach. I laid Rose on the bed and followed the bright lights toward my right, opening doors to the beautiful blue sea and ant-like people running about on the sand.
Since our cabin was at a pretty good height, it made the view even more mesmerizing. I walked back to the bed and followed the path to my right, entering a hallway. The right led to the living room, and the left led to the kitchen.
I explored the kitchen, caressing the dark marble island and the five-burner gas stove with a chimney right above it. I noticed the fridge and cabinets and opened them, happy to know that my stock was filled with varieties from beers to whiskeys and vodkas. After seeing the entire place, I really didn't care about who we were with. I was going to enjoy my time here.
I immediately took a bottle of beer and headed into the bedroom.
"You're already drinking?" Eugene questioned me, scrolling through his phone.
"Celebratory drink," I said, raising my beer in the air, which he ignored.
It annoyed me that he was avoiding me. If he seriously didn't like the kiss, he could just tell me.
I walked closer to him. "Why are you always on your phone?" I said, trying to grab his phone, but he dodged it, raising his hand up high.
"None of your business," he said and walked off.
Okay, now this irritates me, but who cares? I don't, and I won't either if he wants to behave like a jerk; then he is welcome to do so.
I drain my beer and open a second one.
We decided to go to the beach tomorrow since everyone was pretty tired today from the journey. Matty, too, started dozing off, so they slept early on in the night.
We sat in the living room blaring "Bad Liar" by Imagine Dragons as Vivian hummed to the tune, and I did a sing-along. Because of this, an amazing idea popped into our heads of doing karaoke. But our excitement got ruined when Eugene and Jake refused since they were too tired to do anything.
Of course, we understood, and I was in no place to tell them anything since I did nothing but lay comfortably in the car. Vivian and I headed out to the restaurant to order some food to be brought to the cabin and strolled around the area.
We took the car and made our way to the closest supermarket called "Calypso," the same as our vacation home had.
Vivian sat in the trolley while we roamed the aisles. I pushed the cart with her in it, and she dropped whatever was needed in the cart with her. It was fun, and I was happy no one told us to stop. This is why I loved being around her; her crazy, goofy ideas always got me doing what I never expected to do.
I kept pushing the cart faster and faster, turning it around every time we changed from one aisle to the next. But like everything that goes wrong in my life, this had to as well.
I spun her around way too hard and couldn't hold onto the bars as the cart slid and ramped into a stack of cans, dropping them all with a loud sound and people's eyes staring at us. I felt bad for the clerk that had to clean it up because we decided to make a run for it and pretend we never were in that aisle.
I grabbed the cart and pushed it away from the aisle when I heard a familiar voice call out to us.
"Well, if it isn't Vivian and Jade," the person said, and we both turned our heads to the voice. "Should have known it would have been you guys causing havoc like you always do!" he said, coming over to me and wrapping his arms around me.
Memories of the past immediately flooded my brain as I called out his name.
"Mark!"
