I hadn't told V about how my feelings have grown towards Eugene in these past weeks that have passed. We make our way to school together and I start to reminisce about the only few months we have left in high school.

Thinking back on it, I guess V and Eugene have actually been with me all throughout middle school but we least would have expected this to have been the outcome of us attending the same high school.

Eugene kisses me on the cheek and heads to his class while I head to my own.

I wave at V as I make my way to her.

"Hey" she says, waving and handing a bag of chips my way.

I snort "That's not what a cheerleader is supposed to eat".

"I'm not one yet Jade" she fusses.

"With the way things are going, I don't think that future is far off".

She smiles at me and we get distracted by Miss. Millburn entering the class with fresh white sheets of pop quiz.

Half past an hour my mind drifts off to the thoughts of the future as I think about V being a cheerleader while eventually dating the hot jock Jake, and Eugene eventually owning his father's business I guess.

Yet here I am with no focus in life at all apart from fussing over my new boyfriend and feeling the new jitters of a relationship.

I sigh and get back to the quiz at hand.

School ends off on the same boring note as we leave in the late afternoon of the day. We decide to ditch going home and instead taking Rose and Matty for ice cream. It's been awhile since we all have gathered together, Matty, me, Rose, V, Jake and Eugene.

We go to the city gaming pub and get the kids ice cream, while I see Eugene and V go at the dance battle game. A pair that I'm not used to seeing. I sit with Jake and watch him, watching V with the utmost desire that it make me smile. He notices me and questions.

"Nothing".

"Tell me what is it?" he pestered .

"Why don't you just tell her, that's honestly what we all really want".

He shows a confused face but understands what I mean and nods his head.

"Nah, she not in my league".

"Oh please! I didn't expect you to be this blind. She's freaking head over heels for you".

He smiles, not knowing what to say and looks back at them.

"He's good at dancing" he says.

I notice the change in topic but let it be "Yep he is".

"Its high time you start learning as well. It definitely will help with all those fancy dinners and get together his kinds of people have".

I furrow my brows at the sentence 'his kinds of people' and begin to question when we see them heading back towards us.

"Well that was fun" he says taking a seat beside me.

I smile as I feel his arm around me.

We play a few games until the gaming arena closes and find a place at a small restaurant for our dinner. Being the weekend, many such arenas and restaurant are packed with overflowing teens and single adults on blind dates.

We ladies excuse ourselves to the washroom to freshen up as the boys find a seat for all of us. I notice Matty get more comfortable with Eugene and Jake as well.

"Need help" V asks Rose.

"Nope, I got it Viv" she replies flipping her hair and entering one of the stalls.

"Jesus I don't know where does she learn all this" she says wiping her hands and standing beside me.

"I can hear you viv" Rose shouts from inside and we laugh.

"Pee quietly kiddo" she says and gets back to reapplying her lipstick and I do the same.

"So" I begin to say "How are things with cheerleading going?".

"Mmm" she hums pressing her lips together to evenly spread the lipstick "great" she says after a while.

I close my lipstick and look at her

"What?" she says staring back.

I smile "How are things with Jake?"

Her face drops and she stares back into the mirror.

I place my hand on her arm "What's wrong?".

She sighs and begins putting her lipstick in her bag "He isn't interested in me".

"Arghh" I yell "why do both of you think that?" I say "It's quite clear honestly; all of us can see it."

"Who is Kim?"

I sigh finally understanding the situation

"Kim is just an ex-girlfriend he doesn't even love her anymore. It's just that, they had a very delicate relationship and state. She was a weak child since long ago and that's what got them close. That's all."

"Well if that's the case then he should honestly concentrate on his future." She says "he blows me off every time he gets a call from her, he doesn't like being alone with me, he doesn't like when I want to meet his friends or rather jocks. That's not how I want things to be."

"I'm sure he has a reason for it all"

"And he should be clear with what the reason is." She says and walks out.

I stand staring at the same spot for a few seconds until Rose comes out. I smile at her and take her by the hand. We reach our table and I take a sit beside Eugene, right across Jake.

I notice a particular mood at the table that I apparently miss. I look at Matty and watch him silently sip his juice.

"What's wrong?" I ask Eugene

He stops mid while sipping his beer and nodding. "Nothing" he smiles.

The rest of the dinner goes in small bickering over the food order and the mood gradually get better at we come to the end of our night.

"Two ice creams and three caramel puddings" V orders and hands the menu back to the waiter. The kids yell over their second ice-cream of the day when it arrives and we at our puddings.

I notice Eugene's stare at me and I pull my eyebrows at him.

He chuckles and wipes the maple syrup from my lips, I take a tissue and wipe it again and smile at him.

He properly faces and me and takes my hand "I have to tell you something"

"Yeah tell me"

"It's my parent's anniversary next weekend and we have planned a cruise and I want you to be there."

"What?" I say surprised

"And I'm against it"

"Excuse me?" I say looking at Jake.

"I want all of you to come."

I look at Eugene "Why all of us?"

"Well it will fun and I want everyone to be there but Jake does not want to come."

"I have practices" Jake says.

"You have nothing next week. The jocks are having try outs. I spoke to Coach Kennedy."

"Why did you speak to him? I told you not to come to the grounds when everyone is there."

She stares at him annoyed and looks back at Eugene "Well I am coming and so is Jade and Matty and Rose. So it doesn't really make a difference if he comes or not."

And in a span of time I hear V and Jake bickering while Eugene tries to stop them both and Rose starts crying because of Matty dropping her ice cream.

I notice the yelling at the other end of the restaurant towards the television and see the Mega Bulls and Red Horns start a fight in the middle of their football game and look at my own table and see our own football fight in front of me.

I sigh and look at the manager of the restaurant walk towards us in much anger and realise that this like all other days is another tiring and chaotic one, which in this case, a long long night.
