"W-what?" Valentina whispered, moving herself so she rested on the pillows. Her entire body hurt. That was then she turned her head and noticed a nurse. "Oh! Your finally awake!" She said, moving a blonde strand from the woman's face. "Where am I?" Asked the blonde as her icy blues met the nurse's gray ones. "Your in the hospital. A fire was burning the opera house and one miss Argent called the ambulance. Firefighters broke the door down and found you next to miss Sandiego." The woman's eyes widened. "Is Carmen ok?! Please, I have to know!" She begged, worried for her girlfriend.
"Nurse! Come quick and bring miss Fraser with you!" Said a doctor as the nurse placed Valentina on a wheelchair and wheeled her into a room. There, her heart broke at the sight of a bandaged Carmen. "I'm here, my crimson phantom," the blonde woman was wheeled over to her bedside. She placed a hand on hers, her heartbeat calming down for the first time all day. "Thank heavens.." Carmen reached out to touch her face with her fingertips. (A/n: start music) "Don't ever scare me like that ever again." The woman smiled shyly and stared deep into her eyes. "I won't, you have my word." She whispered.
"You both will need to remain here until we are sure the burns healed." Said the doctor as Valentina and Carmen both looked at each other then at the doctor in disbelief. "But, you both will share a room together since you both were holding each other's hands while in the ambulance. Does that sound fair?" The two women smiled softly at that compromise. "Definitely, sir." Valentina replied, her eyes softening at that promise as she was wheeled to a bed right beside Carmen's. She looked over to her phantom's bed and playfully blew a kiss at her.
She returned the favor as the blonde blushed. The doctor examined her, checking on her to make sure none of the burns she had gotten from the fire were infected. Fortunately, they were not and he moved on to tend to Carmen's burns. They were in the same condition as Valentina's. He knew not to try anything since the blonde's mother would have killed without the help of her daughter. After a while, he left the room and the two lovers looked deep into each other's eyes, icy blue met stormy gray. "You are an complete and utter idiot for going into the fire to save me." A sweet giggle escaped the blue-eyed lady beside her.
"I know~ but.. it was arson. When I went into the fire to find you, I found the remains of a Molotov Cocktail shattered on the ground. I didn't touch it since it was on the ground and I was worried for you at the moment." She explained, watching her beloved's reaction. "I see.. thank you for telling me, dear." She said. Carmen was proud of her girlfriend for remembering all the details since she knew there was someone behind the incident. The question was; who could have done that and why?
But she, like Valentina, had a feeling who it was that caused the fire. Lightly shaking her head, she calmed her bloodlust to prevent herself from doing something she might regret later. "Valentina.. after we get out of the hospital, I have somewhere I want to take you." Immediately, her eyes sparkled like clear skies and ice. "Ok, Carmen. Until then, I will be waiting until we get out of these beds." That sentence earned her a laugh from her phantom. She moved a lock of her red hair out of her face so she could see her. "I love you so much, Carmen.. don't forget that, ok?"
"I love you too, Valentina." Her girlfriend's bright and beautiful smile made the entire room shine like a diamond. She looked like an angel who had been sent from above.. "hun, your staring again.." she said, her tone light and playful. "Sorry.. it's just that your so gorgeous that you can make any gemstone pale in comparison." She told the blonde as a deep blush took over her face. "Carmen.." she smirked as she continued. "I am serious, my angel. You are an angel disguised as a human woman. I can see why Arno is infatuated with you~" she crooned at the blonde.
Valentina's squeals of happiness were muffled by her pillow on her bed as she could feel her face turn even more redder if that was possible. Somehow when she wasn't looking, the phantom wormed her way into her heart. She looked out the window and sighed softly, her blue orbs meeting the glass window as anger seethed through her veins, wanting to find out who tried to kill her beloved phantom and make whoever decided to try to kill her regret making that choice. She snapped out of her murderous thoughts when she realized that she had a little bit of a scary face.
Luckily, Carmen was asleep as she glanced at her face and smiled. Placing her head against the pillows, she stared at the ceiling as so many thoughts went through her mind, her eyes seems far away. That was then she made up her mind: she was going to quit ACME and become an opera star. Good thing she had her phantom of the dark by her side. All she needed was the good timing and reason as to why she was leaving her place of work. She felt her eyes growing heavy, the adrenaline slowly fading away and the ache in her joints began to grow in her bones like vines.
"Damn whoever did this to both me and Carmen.." she whispered, pulling the covers over her chin, her arm trembling slightly like a old person's joints. She hated when her arms got like that when she got this badly injured. Of course, she didn't regret saving her phantom from the fire that would've consumed her.
If she died, Valentina would shortly join her.
