"I told you that Valentina requested a dark sky blue to contrast her icy blue eyes!"
Valentina heard the seamstress of the newly-built opera house from behind her dressing room door as she sighed, looking at her engagement ring that glittered on her finger.
Ever since Carmen told her that she could sing, the blonde had been gifted many dresses, jewelry, and flowers from people who came from near and far just to hear the woman sing. She even was given a nickname: le petit ange. The little angel.
She continued to hear them arguing until she flung open the door. Standing there was one of the assistants of the seamstress and the seamstress, Andrea. Her icy blue eyes met the darker ones of Andrea and the lighter green ones of Catherine.
"Are you two done now?" She asked, her icy blues narrowing into slits. The two women before her looked ashamed upon arguing in front of the Prima-donna. Valentina turned her head towards Catherine.
"Care to tell me what happened?" She listened as the assistant explained what happened. Apparently, she accidentally got red silk fabric instead of the dark sky blue satin Valentina asked for as she smiled.
"So, is that what happened?" She placed a hand on her shoulder as she smiled softly. "It was just a simple mistake on your end, besides.. I am fine wearing red next week." The opera house was performing Carmen and she had gotten the role as the gypsy girl with the same name.
Catherine was flustered just from having the prima-donna near her.. she knew that Valentina was engaged to the crimson phantom, but.. she could feel the softness of her hand on her shoulder and the soft rosy scent of the blonde's face cream in her nostrils. She was truly beautiful.. an angel sent from heaven..
"Mon amour, I need to borrow you for a second!" Carmen called out as Valentina smiled brightly. My love. The woman went over to her and embraced her in a warm hug. "We need to discuss our wedding plans in the privacy of your dressing room, away from prying eyes."
Valentina never failed to hear the under-laced possessiveness in her voice as she glared at Catherine. "Oui, mon çher~" she agreed, her icy blues meeting her phantom's gray ones. Yes, my dear~
The blonde guided her fiancé into her dressing room, closing the door behind them with a soft click. "Did you watch the practice, my Carmen?" She asked, shifting side to side in her pale daffodil dress with puffed sleeves.
"Oui, you were très magnifique on stage.. all those ballet and chorus girls pale in comparison to you.. mon ange." Yes, you were very beautiful on stage.. all those ballet and chorus girls pale in comparison to you.. my angel.
She blushed softly as she was handed a red rose with a black ribbon around the stem and accepted it, kissing the soft petals of the flower. Valentina placed the flower in a emerald crystal vase filled with water and went towards a large mirror which had floral patterns in the golden metal.
The woman reached out and twisted a fire quartz bud, causing a mechanism to move the mirror aside. "After you, darling~" she said, smiling as the glass went back to its normal place. She picked up the skirt of her dress as she walked down the stony steps, the click of her heels echoing throughout the fifth cellar.
Once they reached the gondola, Carmen began rowing towards a house, one that was beautiful yet elegant when Valentina stayed at during her recitals. The blonde simply adored her beloved phantom so much.. she was her opera ghost after all. They arrived at their destination as the prima-donna unlocked the door.
They walked in as she smiled, looking down at her engagement ring. She never thought all of this was possible.. It felt like yesterday when she was just a police officer and now.. now she was to be the bride of the crimson phantom.
The gems on the ring sparkled underneath the soft candlelight that flickered all around the house since Carmen didn't trust actual lighting. Valentina respected and understood, for she also hated bright bulbs since she would always get migraines from them, so the candles were a welcome change for the both of them.
She felt her beloved's arms around her waist which was covered by her dress and blushed. "My angel, you are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.. oh, the fact that you now belong to me just pleases me in ways I cannot begin to describe..~" Valentina giggled sweetly as her porcelain fingers went into her hair.
The blonde listened to Carmen's praises as she replied in French, something she knew her fiancé would like as she blushed. "My love.. you spoke French..?" That was then Valentina let out a happy scream as her crimson phantom kissed her arm. "Carmen, what has possessed you to behave like this?!" She squealed, her icy blues bright with shock and love.
"The way you speak French.. it drives me insane.. my beloved.. and how it flows through your lips, it makes my heart feel like it will fly out of my chest..~"
Carmen kissed her wrist and pulse point on it as she said those words to her beloved bride as she blushed, letting her phantom kiss her arm and shoulder with love and possessiveness that bloomed inside of her the night they first met.
This beautiful, sweet and loving woman was hers for their lifetimes.. and only belonged to her and her alone.. she wanted to tell Valentina who she used to be in her past, but decided against it since she did not want to ruin the wonderful engagement.
She always dreamed about marrying someone like Valentina.. and now, those dreams were finally becoming reality.
Carmen could not risk shattering the moment and hurting her angel in the process..
