6) Finding Out More About You

Opening the door, I notice that I am in what looks like a restaurant. Close to the stage, which is at the other end of the room, I see a table full of different foods: cakes, French fries, pizza, nuggets, all kinds of snacks and drinks. Looking around, I noticed that Leo, Janin, Matt, Sarah and Giulia were all sitting at a table talking and laughing. I head over to them and ask them why are they all here.

"How could you forget?" said Leo.

"Do you seriously not remember?" asked Janin.

"I even reminded you yesterday. Where is your head?" said Sarah. "It's Diana's birthday. This is a surprise party for her. She is supposed to arrive 30 minutes from now."

How could I forget something like this? But then... How did I know to come here?

Trying to figure everything out, I hear a strange sound coming from behind me. I turn around to see what that was, but there is nothing. When I turn back around, I can't find any of my friends. All I can see is another red door with a golden knob. I grab it and open the door.

On the other side, I can see Stephen, an old classmate. I go to him looking at the thing that he was holding in his hands, which looked like a test tube.

"Hey. What are you doing?" I ask.

"Darwin! Where have you been? You are 15 minutes late. You'll so be punished by the teacher. And where is your robe. You knew we're going to do Chemistry experiments and you need it, otherwise you'll get your clothes dirty and there are also some dangerous chemicals."

"Wait. What are you talking about?"

"Did you really forget? Where is your head? We have to do experiments so that our school gets 1st place in the competition. If we don't succeed, the teacher will be so mad. We are his best students. Hurry and go take a robe from the closet there."

I go to the closet and open the door. I enter, and see a robe. While trying to reach it, I hear the door close behind me. I get dressed, and open the door to step out. When I do so, I notice that I am suddenly in a forest; the only things I can see are trees, trees and more trees.

Turning back to find the door, I notice that it is also gone. With no other choice, I start walking. Going further, I notice something that looks like a small house in the distance, so I head in that direction. There, I see a girl who is surrounded by different animals: bunnies, cats, deers and squirrels. Approaching, I recognize the girl. It's none other than Diana.

Suddenly, behind her a wolf appears. I start running to her and shouting, when I abruptly open my eyes noticing that I am in bed and that all of that was just a dream. Looking at the clock on the wall, I see that I still have 10 minutes left until I have to get up, so I choose to stay in bed.

Trying to figure out what that dream meant is hard. First, I don't know when Diana's birthday is. Then, Stephen is in the USA for one year, so he couldn't have been here recently, and he would also have no reason to come here. And last, what was with that forest and all those animals. None of it made any sense. With that thought, I get out of bed and head to the bathroom. Then, I go downstairs.

The day at school passed really quickly and it was time to head home. Sarah had to stay more as the English teacher needed her help, so I started heading home.

When I was near my house, I notice the old lady whom I helped with the carrying of bags (ch 4) look in the distance. Before reaching her, I see a girl approaching her and hugging her. When I reach her, I greet her. "Good afternoon."

"Oh! Good afternoon, young boy."

Afterwards, I look at the girl and realize that it's Diana.

"Oh! Hi." I say.

"Hi!"

"Do you know each other?"

"He's Sarah's brother." Diana explains.

"Oh, really! He's that nice young boy I told you about. I'm Diana's grandaunt. Why don't you come inside and have a cup of tea."

"Shall I? Okay." I say.

Entering the house, I see that it is rather a small house, but with everything a person would need. On the walls of the living room, there are a lot of photos, some with Diana and what looks like her parents and some with a lot more family members.

"How is my sister doing?" Diana is asked by her grandaunt.

"She's doing fine. I went to see her yesterday and she is doing quite fine. She is still able to cook for herself, although we often send her food, she is still able to take walks outside to have some fresh air. Also, she told me to send you her regards the next time I visit you, even though you often speak on the phone."

"I am happy to hear that she is doing well. Young man, what is your name?"

"My name's Darwin."

"Beautiful name. What class are you in?"

"In 9th grade."

"Oh, I see. Do you like the tea?"

"Yes, I do. It's really good."

"I'm happy to hear that."

"Oh, I need to go." says Diana.

"What a pity. Do you have to leave as well, Darwin?"

"I am afraid I do."

"Oh. It was nice meeting you again. Bye."

"Goodbye." Diana and I say in unison.

After leaving the house, I bid my goodbyes to Diana as well, looking after her as she goes further and further away.
