After I wake up, I go to the window, wanting to open it. To my surprise, the only thing I can see is white. Finally. It snowed. There are probably few people that are happy when it snows because it is really cold, but I am one of those few that enjoy snow. 

Going down the stairs, I take my jacket and gloves and take some snow with one hand. I quickly go back inside and run towards Sarah's room. As I see she is still sleeping, I make sure that the blanket doesn't cover her face and throw the snow right in her face.

She gives the snow aside, opens her eyes, gives the blanket aside and starts shouting "DARWIN!!!", and I know that is my cue to run. Going outside, we have a snowball fight, until, exhausted, I say "Peace?", at which Sarah agrees with me, "Okay".

After making sure that there isn't much snow on our clothes, we enter the house and head towards the kitchen to get something to eat for breakfast.

"Mom. You won't imagine what Darwin did to me." Sarah says.

"I saw. Darwin, you know that you are going to have to clean that up, right?" Mom says.

"I will, after eating something, cause I am starving..." I tell her. 

After I finish eating, I go and mop the floor in Sarah's room where the snow has melted. Then I head to my room to prepare the gift for Diana, as I was her Secret Santa.

A few days before the winter break, the eight of us held a Secret Santa drawing where we wrote notes with 1, 2, 3, 4 twice and then the people that had the same number were paired up, and that was how the pairs Matt and Bett, Diana and I, Sarah and Varick, Janin and Leo were formed.

Getting to my room, I sit at my desk and get out 'The Book Thief' that I got for Diana. Wanting it to be more special, I take a pen and write on the first page: 'I hope you have a Merry Christmas!' from Darwin and make the dot from the exclamation a small heart.

Luckily, I take the pen off the paper before I hear Sarah saying "I ship it.".

"What?" I ask her.

"You like Diana, right?" she asks me.

"Yes..." I say, looking at her.

"Well, I ship it." she says, as nonchalantly as she could.

"Okay... But why are you here?"

"Mom wanted to know whether you will carry the box with the ham rolls in your hand or should she put it in a bag."

"I'll carry it as it is. Now go." I say.

"Ok, ok, fine."

'I think this was the weirdest conversation I ever had with Sarah...'

(The next day)

It is December 24th, the day we go to Leo's Christmas party. At 5, we arrive to his house. Giving him the ham and cheese rolls, I notice that Matt and Bett were already here, while the others arrive shortly. Thinking about what we should do, we decide to watch 'Grinch', as it is perfect for this time of year.

After the movie is over, we put on some music and start dancing around. When we get tired, we sit down and get something to eat and then it's present time. We share the presents and then we open them one at a time. Varick goes first. Opening the box we see some dices with pictures on them.

"You know how we always argue what to watch. This makes it easier: it tells the genre, if it's a movie or a soap opera and so on." Sarah explains to him.

"Oh, I see." he responds. 

Opening her present, Sarah notices it is a pink watch.

"It's a couple watch. See, I have one in black."

"Oh, I love it. Thanks Varick."

"My turn", I say. Opening the red box sitting in my lap, I notice it is an Instant camera. "I always wanted one." I tell Diana.

"I'm glad you like it." she says, and then proceeds to open the present from me.

I get so happy seeing her face light up as soon as she sees the book I got her. After thanking me, it's time for Leo to open up his gift. We notice that it is a picture in a frame. Looking closer, we notice that it is actually Leo and Janin.

"Since when were you two like this?" Sarah asks them.

"Since the trip." Leo says, smiling while looking towards Janin.

"Interesting..." is the only thing Sarah could say.

After we hear the news, Janin opens her present to reveal a Dancing Butterflies puzzle, which is apparently, one of her most wanted gifts. 

Matt gets a game controller, while Bett gets a charging cord bracelet, as she always forgets her charger at home.

After all presents were opened, we decide to watch one of the most classic Christmas movies, 'Home Alone'. Thinking about what we should do next, we decide to hold our own football championship by playing FIFA. We enter our names on a website that does random lists and the competitors are selected: Bett against me, Varick against Diana, Sarah against Leo and Janin against Matt.

After making sure that everyone knows how to play, we begin the championship, with the winners being Varick, Sarah, Matt and I. I play against Varick, while Sarah plays against Matt. Following two matches, Sarah and I are competing against each other in the final.

"Now, ladies and gentlemen. The match of the century between the Blumenberg siblings is about to start. Everybody, make your bets." Leo says.

"Hey. Should we also have the loser make a wish of the winner come true?" Sarah asks me.

"Sure. If you're that confident you'll win." I say.

After a 20-minutes match that actually felt like an hour, Sarah wins.

"I will think of a wish. Be prepared." she proudly says to me.

"Okay, okay." I say.

Afterwards, we go to bed as it got late.

The next day, we wake up, eat something and then we are off to our homes, as we were going to meet up again at Matt's cabin.

(Some time later)

"Hey, Darwin. I thought of my wish." Sarah says, coming to my room as I was packing a few things to take with me to Matt's.

"Okay, say it."

"You have to tell Diana how you feel about her by the end of the year." she says.

"Okay, fine." I say. 'I was going to anyway, as I'm not planning on losing the bet with Leo.' I think.
