Underworld Therapy
"Why don't you let me take him?" Hades stood in front of Athena and surrounded her with his black aura.
"Why would I do that?"
"You think I'm a fool, Oh mighty goddess of wisdom? I can hear the souls of the dead...I know your secrets."
Athena smirked at Hades. "Oh really, and what are you going to do? Tell everyone? As if anyone would listen to you."
"I wouldn't count on that. Wouldn't want to let the sea God know of--"
"Alright! Fine!"
Hades' smile didn't waver for one second and Athena was beginning to become anxious.
She told her guards to drop Hephaestus on the ground and then she left.
"Haha, too easy."
(Hephaestus POV)
White lights shined through the black poise that was plastered on the walls. I blinked my eyes a couple of times to cease the blurriness and heard a singing voice.
"...The earth opened up
And out burst Hades …
The son of Kronos,
Who took her by force
On his chariot of gold,
To the place where so many
Long not to go.
Persephone screamed
Hearing nothing at all,
Receiving the sacrifices of
Supplicating men..."
I quickly sat up and faced three scary beings. One wore a dark cloak that covered his whole entire body. I could have sworn he skin was peeling from his body. To the right of him, stood a tanned skin man with glasses and short hair. He seemed harmless, but I knew I shouldn't underestimate him.
Finally, I looked upon the devil himself...Hades. He was looking over the edge of the raft and was singing to himself.
"Charon, You changed the lyrics once again? It makes me look bad."
The rower grumbled words I didn't understand, but Hades seemed to know what He was saying.
"Aye, I loathe that type of thinking."
"Master, he's awake." The person with the glasses said.
"Mmm..." Hades looked over and my heart began to beat faster.
How did I get here?!
The more I looked around, I noticed we were floating on a raft. I slowly pulled myself up and looked over the edge.
White and blue lights floated upward and all around us. It was a truly beautiful sight.
Were these souls? But I heard that Hades kept them inside a big room? Why were they out in the open?
Suddenly the boat began to shake as we passed over a bright red light.
"Ahh what a poor soul..."
"Master, what is he saying?"
"Revenge upon Zeus; Revenge upon Poseidon. Same old same old."
"Master, please try to have some courtesy."
A strange black aura surrounded us instantly, and next thing I see was Hades holding his servant by the neck over the pit of souls.
"Are you trying to tell me what to do Riezer!?"
"No--f- forgive me master."
I was in shock. Was he actually going to kill him?
"Let go!" Surprised at myself, I grabbed Hades' arm trying to force it backwards.
Hades began to laugh and began to dangle Riezer. He was going to drop him.
"Hades!!" An echo went throughout the ocean of souls.
Charon stopped the raft in front of two pillars that seemed to be another entrance.
"Hades instantly put Riezer back down on the surface and smiled.
"Persephone? You were here?" Hades said as he stepped off the boat.
"Where else would I be. But that doesn't matter. Why were you holding Riezer over the edge? I told you to stop doing that."
"I wasn't going to drop him...right Riezer?" Hades' eyes seemed like dagggers as he glared at Riezer.
"Y- Yes master."
"I knew you shouldn't have made the soul lure bigger! If you drop Riezer down there, it will take weeks to drag him out."
"Mmm, but I like this renovation. It makes the entrance seem more eerie. Right Charon?"
Charon nodded and mumbled some more of his unknown lauguage.
Persephone was about to complain some more until she saw me.
She then tilted her head and memerized my being.
"Who is this?"
"Oh," Hades stepped off the raft, "This is Hephaestsus, the one I told you about."
"Oh! The God of fire? Welcome."
"Well, are you not going to get off?" Hades said and waited for me to move, but I couldn't. All I wanted was to escape this place and travel else where.
"Riezer."
"Yes master." The tiny servant came behind me and lifted me up. This revelation I did not realize what was happening, happened so fast. I did not expect this tiny being to be so strong as to pick me up and drag me off the boat.
"There you go." Hades smiled and patted my back. "Follow me."
I followed the orange haired goddess and the God of the underworld further into their dungeon. As I've heard, everything was crisp and clean with no flaws in sight.
We turned the corner and I found myself staring into a common foyer with a fire place and everything.
Hades swung his cape around and sat down in the big black seat.
"Well, let's talk." Hades smiled at me.
"Riezer, bring some drinks!"
"Yes master."
"You must be shocked?"
"I am...very much so."
"Don't worry, he won't do anything harmful." Persephone sat beside Hades.
"Why am I here? I could have sworn I was at a party."
"Haha, Aye! Where you fainted onto the ground. That was extremely hilarious."
"Hades! Stop. Anyway, what happened at the party?"
"Aphrodite has had a child with Ares." Hades continued to laugh.
"What? Ares? Thats-"
"Unbelievable? I know, but it sure was funny to see his anxious expression."
Anger began to swell inside of me. I was fed up with all the laughter.
"What's so funny?!" I screamed and hit the arm of the chair.
"Oh? The God of fire dare's to get angry in the house of Hades?" Dark aura began to, float around Hades, making me afraid.
"Try hitting that chair again?"
Taking a deep breathe, I averted my eyes from the scary God.
"Now back to the matter at hand, should you even be that mad? It was over 5 decades ago and not even the father himself knew about that child."
"How can I not be mad? They treated me like a fool and smiled at me like nothing happened. Aphrodite told me she didn't love Ares and I wanted to believe her, but as soon as I put my trust into her, I found out she has a child!"
"Do you know the child?" Persephone asked.
"Yes, his name is Eros."
"Do you dislike the child?"
"Well...No. But Why does this matter?"
"Of course I understand how hurt you would be if she is in love with someone else, but if she wasn't would you accept the child?"
"Well, yes. Eros has done nothing wrong. But what does this have to do with anything," I asked again.
"Then there is no problem."
"But she is in love with Ares!"
"You don't need to worry about Ares." Hades spoke as Riezer handed him a glass of wine.
"Why's that?"
"Because he's not a conceited fool. He would never pry into anyone else's relationship and I'm highly sure he has no feelings for that girl." He took a sip of wine then sighed.
"Now that that's settled, why don't you run on back home."
"Didn't he just get here?" Persephone complained.
"I just brought him here so Athena wouldn't..."
"Wouldn't what?"
Cough, "Nothing...just a slip of the tongue." Hades gulped down another glass of wine.
"This matter cannot be pushed aside so lightly! I don't even want to face her!"
Hades began to laugh. "Haha, are you a complete child?!"
"Hades." Persephone protested.
"No, I mean seriously Persephone! He barges into a party, gets drunk, then goes off on my nephew like he was in the wrong, when he didn't know anything either! You shouldn't be mad at him, you should be angry with yourself for not knowing your own wife before you thoughtlessly married her!"
I glared at Hades with hate. How dare he speak down to me!
"You want to know what your wife was in the past?"
"Don't you dare speak it." I said about to pull out my sword.
"A pure hearted wench!"
Quickly, I stood up and aimed the sword towards Hades head. Yet, when I hit the chair, he wasn't anywhere to be seen.
"I've heard some rumors, that are technically true."
Hades' voice surrounded me. I knew he was there, but I couldn't see him.
"It's was said she had her way with countless of men, including the gods."
"Don't say anymore!"
"I heard she once slept with Dionysus the wine God. Who you have naught a problem with right?"
"Be silent!"
"I also discovered her first love was with a sea god name Nerities, who rejected her so she cursed him into being a shell-fish."
"I will not stand to hear anymore!" I tried covering my ears, but the sound of his voice easily slipped through.
"I'm surprised she hasn't already slept with Poseidon."
"Shut up!"
"Hades. Stop." Persephone urged and suddenly Hades was right in front of me.
"As I said before, you should have known the goddess of beauty is not innocent. Neither am I, neither is anyone else."
He swung his cloak around and sat back down in his chair.
"Accept the fact that she has a child and monopolize her, for she is your wife and no one else can have her. I know this from my own experience."
Hades smiled, but Persephone rolled her eyes.
Taken aback, I stood as a Hades sat there drinking another glass of wine. Persephone, who seemed to be used to his out burst, sat there awaiting for my answer.
Was I not to answer such a pompous ploy, or should I accept my stupidity. If I really give it some thought, I know I can get over this matter as fast as I forgave Hera. Hera, who has done worst things and Aphrodite who seemed to want to rid of her past. I, who know nothing of the world of the gods and gets mad over insipid things.
I should absolve this problem and make Aphrodite fall for me just as Hades said.
Slowly, I bent down on my right knee, "Thank you Lord Hades."
"Lord? Haha! I would say you can call me uncle, but only one person can call me that."
"You are a fool for your nephew," Persephone uttered as she laughed.
I smiled at the blissful lovers and thought how I wanted Aphrodite and I to be the same way.
"Well, I'll take my leave."
