72 - Daddy

"How do I look?"

I gave my audience a little twirl. Nobody said anything.

"Draco?"

He was looking at me as though he wanted to throw up. I realised my voice didn't even sound like mine - it had turned into a soft, dangerous one. A voice that was coldly familiar to me.

"I- I'm sorry, I just... can't-" Draco turned away from me and strode off to the other end of the church.

"I take it it worked then?" I sighed sadly, wishing I could comfort Draco. But fat chance of that happening when I looked like this.

"Too bloody well," Ron said, giving a low whistle.

"Mum?" Albus said, his mouth hanging open, "I can't believe that's you in there!"

"It-it is pretty creepy," Scorpius agreed, staring at me in awe. "So this is what it's like to meet the second most famous wizard of all time."

"Second?" Albus asked, enquiringly.

"Well, after your mum of course," Scorpius grinned.

That kid was getting the biggest Christmas present ever this year.

"Come on, we have no time to waste!" Hermione hurried. "Etta, remember what we discussed - you go and circle the church slowly, once you are sure Delphi has spotted you, come straight back in. We'll be hiding behind those doors," she pointed to a pair of big oak doors, "waiting for you to lure her to this spot here," she pointed to where the light was hitting the floor from the stained glass window.

"And then we'll zap her," Ron said making a gun gesture with his hand.

Hermione gave a loud tut, rolling her eyes. I could tell she was wondering why we ever let him tag along.

I nodded, my heart beating wildly. "Okay, okay, let's do this." I started for the door, pausing as I reached it. "I love you guys."

I turned to look at them, but they were all just staring at me as though I had grown another head.

"That just seems seriously weird coming from you, looking like that." Ron blurted out.

I looked to where Draco was stood at the far end of the church, but he wouldn't turn around. Sighing, I pushed open the door.

"I love you, Etta," I heard Draco call. Smiling, I walked out of the church, knowing that Draco would not want a reply. Not from Lord Voldemort at any rate.

At last I heard footsteps. It was her. It had to be. Yet every time I looked back over my shoulder, there was no one there.

My heart thudding nervously, I headed back to the church and said nothing until I was safely inside.

"Whichever witch or wizard is following me," Voldemort's cold voice drawled loudly from my lips. "I assure you; you will regret it."

"Lord. Voldemort. It is me. I am following you."

Slowly, I turned around, and came face to face with Delphi, who was hovering in the doorway.

"I do not know you. Leave me."

"I am your daughter," she said, looking at me in complete awe - almost affection.

"If you were my daughter, I'd know of you."

"I am from the future. The child of Bellatrix Lestrange and you. I was born in Malfoy Manor before the Battle of Hogwarts. A battle you are going to lose. I have come to save you."

Holy freaking cow. I wondered if Draco was getting any of this. How had he not realised that his aunt had been impregnated by that maniac's cock? I'm surprised it had even worked.

"I am familiar with Bellatrix and there are certain similarities in your face - though you haven't inherited the best of her." Ha, that taught the bitch to entrap my son. "But without proof..."

Delphi speaks instantly in Parseltongue.

"That's your proof?" I laughed viciously.

And then she rose effortlessly into the air, hovering over me like a bird. Oh, fuck.

"I am the Augurey to your Dark Lord, and I am ready to give all that I have to serve you.

"You learnt flight - from - me?" I stupidly stuttered as she landed back to the ground. But she still came no closer.

"I have devoted my life to being a child you could be proud of." Ugh, kiss arse.

"I see what you are, and I see what you could be. Daughter."

"Father?" she quivered, looking so desperately moved that I almost felt sorry for her.

"Come here, in the light, so I may examine what my blood made."

But she didn't move. Damn! It was essential that I get her further inside before the others break out or she could too easily escape.

"Your mission is a mistake. Attacking Henrietta Potter is a mistake. She will destroy you,"

Suddenly, I felt a tingling sensation in my hands and as I looked down, I saw - to my horror - that they were turning back into my own hands. No, no, no. I was taking too long.

"How can she destroy me? She is just a baby."

"She has her mother's love, your spell will rebound, destroying you and making her too powerful and you too weak. You will recover, to spend the next seventeen years consumed in a battle with her - a battle you will lose."

I felt my hair begin to sprout. I quickly pulled my hood over my head to cover it.

"Then I won't attack her. You are right. Now come over to me, daughter." I said, hearing my voice break as it changed back into my own.

"Father?" Delphi asked, as I quickly turned my back to her, feeling myself shrinking down to my normal height.

Well, this was going embarrassingly wrong.

"You are not Lord Voldemort."

Duh.

Quick as a flash, I spun around drawing my wand, letting my cloak fall down around me.

"Incendio!"

"Incendio!"

Our spells collided in mid-air causing a great big explosion. She then flicked her wand towards the double oak doors - just as they were being pushed open - slamming them instantly shut.

"What? Thought your friends were going to join you did you - Potter?" she cackled, as I could hear the others trying to magic them open but failing.

"Etta! Etta!" Draco bellowed from the other side of the doors.

"We can't Magic the doors open from this side!" I heard Hermione yell, panicked.

"I blew out an exasperated sigh. Bloody useless, the lot of them.

"I guess it's just you and me, then," I snarled at Delphi. "I've dealt with your father; I can deal with you too."

I swished my wand to attack but, to my horror, it left my hand and flew towards Delphi. The bitch had disarmed me!

"I've watched you for a long time, Henrietta Potter," she said calmly, her eyes gleaming coldly into mine, "I know you better than my father did. Expulso!"

As quick as I could, I rolled away as the floor exploded behind me and tucked myself beneath a pew. I had no idea how I could fight her without a wand, I just prayed that the others were managing to find a way out of the room they were locked in.

"Are you crawling away from me? Henrietta Potter. Hero of the wizarding world. Crawling away like a rat. Wingardium Leviosa!"

The pew I was hiding under flew up into the air, hovering above me. I quickly covered my head, but more out of humiliation than self preservation.

"Killing you will be such fun," Delphi cackled, as she flicked her wand, and the pew came violently crashing down on me.

Ow, fuck. I looked up in time to see Delphi delightedly flick her wand again.

"Avada-"

"MUM!"

Like a Jack-In-The-Box, Albus's head suddenly popped up out of the floor from beneath a grate.

"Albus! No! Get back down!" I yelled, fear tearing through me as he pulled himself clean out and hurried over to my side.

"Are you alright, Mum?" he asked worriedly as he helped me to my feet before handing me a wand - Scorpius's wand.

"Yeah, I'm great," I scoffed. "Just trying to stop myself from getting killed by this maniac you thought might make for a good girlfriend!"

"Says my mother who invited an ex-Death Eater into our home!"

"HE'S YOUR FATHER!"

"EXACTLY!"

A loud cough made us both spin round.

"Two of you?" Delphi cackled delightedly, sounding as if all her Christmases had come at once. "Choices, choices. I think I'll kill the boy first. Avada Kedavra!"

Without hesitation, I pushed Albus out of the way, my heart in my throat as the curse missed and smashed a hole into the ground between us.

Anger flared up through me and I was no longer afraid of this bitch who tried to kill my son. She should be afraid of me!

With a newfound, defiant force, I turned around and instantly raised Scorpius's wand.

"You trying to kill me is one thing," I bellowed, shooting curse after curse at that horrid woman, "but to try and kill my son... you've fucking had it, bitch!"

Before I could utter the words Avada Kedavra, though - Hermione, Ron and Draco came bursting through the doors each brandishing their wands furiously towards Delphi, all firing spells at once.

"No! No!" Delphi screamed, - their spells were no match for her.

Ropes started snaking around her body, bounding her, making her a prisoner.

"Etta!" Draco gasped, running towards me at once, leaping over pews in his effort to get to me sooner.

His body slammed into mine as he fiercely pulled me to him, clutching me so tightly, I could scarcely breathe. I could feel the wild beat of his heart as it raced beneath his chest.

"I thought she was going to kill you!" He rasped hoarsely into my hair, kissing it ardently at the same time. "When I couldn't get to you... Oh, Etta, my love."

"I'm okay, Draco, thanks to our wonderful boys," I grinned, lifting my head to beam at Albus and also Scorpius who had now appeared next to him.

"I didn't do anything!" Scorpius laughed, smacking Albus's shoulder, "it was all him."

"Yeah, but it was your idea to come up through the grate." Albus said, his cheeks turning a slight shade of red all the same. "And to give your wand to help save Mum."

"Thank you, boys," I gushed, letting go of Draco to throw my arms around them both. "My god, we make a good team!"

"You can say that again," Draco said, his grey eyes sparkling proudly as he enveloped his arms around the three of us.

"Come on, we better get this one back to present day and throw her in Azkaban," Ron jeered, jabbing a gagged and bound Delphi in the head repeatedly with the end of his wand.

"Ronald!" Hermione scolded, "you shouldn't do that!"

I was just about to ask Draco how come he had never noticed that his aunt had given birth to Satan's spawn in his own home, when I heard a strange noise.

It was a hissing noise. A hissing noise coming from a distance but was approaching ever closer. A hissing noise that I could understand.

"Henrietttaaa Pottttter..."

My blood turned cold.

"No, no, no." I uttered, my entire body trembling as realisation dawned upon me, "Not yet."

"What is it?" Draco asked grabbing my arm in panic. "What's happening?"

"Voldemort," I choked out in a strangled voice, "He's here. And he's about to kill my parents."
