67 - The Niece

"It's the middle of the night! This is completely against the rules!"

Draco and I had barged into Albus and Scorpius's dormitory, hurriedly heading for their beds.

"I need to find my son." I spat at the annoying Slytherin boy who reminded me strongly of Percy.

"I know who you are, Miss Potter," he said pompously, "but even you must understand that it's against school covenant for parents or professors to enter a house quarters without express permission from-"

"Please don't be tiresome, Craig."

We all whirled around to see Minerva charging in behind us.

"You got our message? Good." Draco nodded at Minerva before turning to glare back at the boy called Craig.

"Headmistress. I'm - I was just-" Craig spluttered, his face going red.

But at this point I had reached Albus's bed and had pulled open the green drapes.

"He's gone!" I choked, my heart in my throat as my worst fear was confirmed.

"So's Scorp," Draco declared, having just torn open Scorpius's bed drapes.

"Then let's turn this school upside down." Minerva said in a brusque manner. "Craig, we've got work to do."

And with that, she marched Craig out of the room, leaving Draco and I to stare at one another in mutual horror.

"Haven't we been here before?" Draco sighed, running his hands through his hair.

"Something feels even worse this time," I shivered, feeling the panic rise in my chest. "They were happy, they were fine. They would not just run away again."

Draco immediately crossed the room to me and pulled me tightly into his arms.

"It's okay, Etta, we've found them once before, we'll find them again." He cupped my face in his hands and pressed his lips firmly against my forehead, soothing the prickling pain in my scar.

"I'm scared, Draco." I whispered, my voice quivering as my heart thudded fearfully in my chest.

Draco let go of my face and firmly took hold of my hands. "I'm not leaving your side, Potter. Together we'll find the boys. They'll be fine and we can go home and enjoy the rest of our lives. I promise you."

I wished I shared his confidence.

With Minerva and Craig having no luck at Hogwarts, Draco and I hotfooted it to the Ministry.

We ran straight to Hermione's office, barging in without knocking and stopped short at the sight before us.

Hermione was sat on her desk, a bowl of porridge sat untouched next to her, and a Ron Weasley in between her legs, ramming his tongue down her throat.

It was fucking disgusting.

They sprang apart, looking flustered at our unexpected - and I'm sure unwelcome - interruption.

"Etta! And Draco - how... um... lovely to see you-" Hermione stuttered turning a bright shade of red that gave Ron's hair a run for its money.

"The dreams." I said dramatically, having no time for niceties. "They've started again, well, they haven't stopped."

"And the boys," Draco added, stepping up to my side as he curled an arm around my waist, "Scorpius and Albus - they've gone missing."

"Again?" Ron asked looking confused.

"Yes - again!" I spluttered.

"Minerva checked the whole school." Draco explained, his voice fierce. "They've gone."

"I'll get the Aurors summoned immediately, I'll-" Hermione started, but was interrupted by a smiling Ron.

What the fuck was he smiling about? My son was missing! The inconsiderate twat! I made a mental note to have a discussion with Hermione about his future here. I couldn't have dipsticks like him on my team.

"No you won't," he said jovially, "it's all fine. Albus, I saw him last night. It's all good."

"Where?" Draco demanded furiously.

We all stared at Ron expectantly who chuckled slightly, looking very disconcerted all of a sudden.

"Er, well I was having a couple of Firewhiskies with Neville in Hogsmeade - as you do - setting the world to rights - as we do - and we were coming back - quite late, very late, and trying to work out which Floo I could use because when you've had a drink sometimes you don't want to use the tight ones - or the turny ones or-"

"For fucks sake, Ron!" I yelled. "Just get to the pissing point, would you!"

"Albus hasn't run away," Ron said, cowering under my glare, "he's having a quiet moment - he's got himself an older girlfriend-"

"WHAT?!" I spluttered. This was absolutely not on. I wasn't having some hussy steal away my son.

"He's got himself an older girlfriend," Ron said again, as if I had simply asked him to repeat himself due to being hard of hearing. "And a cracking one at that - gorgeous silver hair. Saw them on the roof together, near the owlery with Scorpius playing the gooseberry. Nice to see him finally using the love potion I gave him for his birthday."

"YOU GAVE MY SON A LOVE POTION?!" I hollered furiously. "WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING, RONALD WEASLEY?!"

Ron turned a bright shade of red, looking extremely nervous all of a sudden. "Well... uh... um, you know... he's a teenage boy. It was just a- just a joke, Etta."

"Hang on a minute!" I said, something suddenly occurring to me. "The girls hair - was it silver and blue?"

Ron looked discombobulated at the sudden change of direction this conversation had taken. "Err... yes, that's it - silver, blue - yup."

I'd seen this girl before. She had come to my house. I swallowed. I was not liking this one bit.

"Delphi." I said shakily. "Niece of Amos Diggory."

"This is about Cedric again?" Draco asked, frowning down at me.

I didn't say anything but looked on in horror from Draco, to Ron, then Hermione. I gave her a look that said 'oh shit'.

Understanding how serious this was, Hermione jumped down from her desk, ran to the door and stuck her head out.

"Ethel. Cancel the goblins."

We went immediately to St Oswald's Home for Old Witches and Wizards.

Wands poised, Draco and I stormed straight into Amos Diggory's room, making the elderly man jump in fright in his chair.

"WHERE ARE THEY?" I screamed, bearing down on him in my most intimidating manner.

"Henrietta Potter," Amos said after righting himself. "What can I do you for, miss? And Draco Malfoy. I am blessed."

"I know how you've used my son," I spat, jabbing the end of my wand directly in his chest.

"I've used your son?" A genuine look of surprise crossed his face. "No. You, miss - you used my beautiful son."

Oh shut the fuck up.

"Tell us - now!" Draco roared, stepping in and pointing his wand right in Amos's face. "Where are Albus and Scorpius or face the profoundest consequences."

"But why would I know where they are?" Amos asked, looking completely unperturbed by our threats.

"Don't play the senility card with us, old man." Draco spat, jabbing his wand more ferociously in his face. "We know you've been sending him owls."

"I've done nothing of the kind."

"Amos, you're not too old for Azkaban." I sneered. "They were last seen on the Hogwarts tower with your niece when they disappeared."

"I have no idea what you are..." he trailed off and looked at me perplexed. "My niece?"

"There are no depths to which you won't sink are there?" I sighed, shaking my head, "yes, your niece, are you denying she was there under your express instructions..."

"Yes, I am - I don't have a niece."

"Yes, you do," Draco snarled, "a nurse, works here. Your niece... Delphini Diggory."

"I know I don't have a niece because I never had any brothers and sisters. And nor did my wife."

Holy. Shit. I looked at Draco and Draco looked at me.

"We need to find out who she is," Draco breathed, "now."
