Chapter 8: Halloween Homecoming
"As an artist, you could use a little development." Lynda tease as she sits on a lounge chair in her living room while Peter took up the couch, looking through his drawings of the Ouroboros and the Pyramid.
Peter gives her a crooked smile and takes a swig of his beer.
Lynda spies a Halloween Homecoming Dance brochure in his notebook.
"Homecoming. You goin'?" She asks.
"Ah, I am home."
Lynda smiles, touched with his words.
"Is Celena coming by later?" She asks.
Peter grunts uncomfortably, "She's actually going to the dance. With Roman."
Lynda's smile slowly drops, "Does it have to do with what happened earlier?" Peter has already told her everything that happened on the road. The crash, the exposure, the bribe.
Peter sighs, "Yeah, but I think he's just trying to get into her pants. I can smell bullshit from a mile away and what I smell on him is lust...for Cel." He takes a hard swallow of beer, sniffing.
"You know, she likes you. And I know you like her. I like her, too. She's good for you and she's a smart girl. She can protect herself, obviously. Have you told her how you feel?" Lynda looks at him, curiously.
Peter scratches his beard nervously, "No, but she knows. She read my mind. I don't know what I'm feeling with her. I never been in love before. How do you know?"
Lynda sighs softly, "You just know...in here." She pats her heart.
Peter sighs deeply, it could be love. Maybe it is.
He looks at the tv, continues to watch Night of the Living Dead, but a commercial interrupts the program.
"Medical research is no longer just in the hands of the big drug companies. At the Godfrey Institute, we're dedicated to making the lives of people better, creating more effective therapies for those in need. The Godfrey Institute. Building a healthier tomorrow today."
His mood sours as he watches that. Now, he was worried again for Celena. Even though his mom was right, Celena can take care of herself, but it still scared him to be away from her.

Celena snatches her door open, storming out of her bedroom in annoyance. Dressed in her Halloween costume as Elvira and her hair was all poofed and curled.
"How do I look?" She stands in front of Viktor, Destiny, and Matt, who was dressed as 1930's gangster.
Viktor chokes on his drink, coughing on fits.
"Holy shit, sweetie. Are you planning to get eaten?" Destiny eyes her up and down. "You look unbelievably sexy." She adds as she sits on a barstool.
"I'm just glad I have the tits for this dress." Celena mutters and shifts her boobs around.
"So, how are we gonna do this?" Matt asks.
"Roman says he's picking up his cousin and coming here. Since, officially, I'm his date, his cousin is gonna ride with you." She says.
When Matt moved here with us he managed to get a place and a car for himself. A red 2010 mustang.
On the way to Celena's place, Roman, dressed in a black tie suit drives in his red and cream jaguar with Letha, who was dressed as a flapper girl.
"So, who's Celena?" Letha smirks.
Roman shrugs, "Just some girl I'm taking to the dance."
"You never take 'some girl' anywhere, besides a parking lot or a motel." Letha scoffs and smiles.
Roman smirks to himself.
Letha leans back against the seat, "She must be very special."
Roman scoffs, "Believe what you want. She's just someone I'm trying to fuck."
Letha didn't buy it for one bit, she saw a sparkle in her cousin's eye she never seen before when she said that girl's name.
Roman pulls up behind a Red Mustang and gets out.
"So, I gotta ride with her cousin while you drive her?" Letha asks, making sure she's got it right.
"Yeah, I met him a few times. He seems like an ok guy." Roman shrugs.
Letha was hesitant, but she knows Roman would never put her in danger.
Roman knocks on the door and waits with Letha. Viktor answers the door with a bowl of candy, but sees it was just Roman. Roman chuckles amusingly as he sees Viktor dressed up like a bear.
"Hey, man. Happy Halloween."
"Hey." Roman walks in and Letha follows him. "Letha, this is Viktor. Celena's brother. Vik, this is my cousin, Letha."
"Hi." Letha smiles.
"Nice to meet you." Viktor holds out his hand and Letha, nervously, takes it. "Don't worry, I'm teddy bear. Um..." He looks at himself, "Pun intended."
Letha giggles, "I'm sorry. I have heard most about you from Shelley. Don't worry, I know how Aunt Olivia can be and I think it's adorable that you two like each other. Just promise you won't hurt her, or you'll have to answer to me and Roman." She crosses her arms over her chest and Roman leans on her shoulder.
"I promise I would never hurt Shelley. Cross my heart." He crosses an X over his chest.
"Good."
"Ok, let's get this over with." Celena grumbles as she walks into the room with Matt following her.
Roman freezes where he stands as he looks at Celena with lust in his eyes. His heart felt like he was gonna burst out of chest and sing 'Hello, my baby'. Celena was dressed in a tight Elvira dress that gave a perfect exposure of her curves. The dress hugged and shaped her tits perfectly and the partial show off of her legs was sexy as hell for Roman. This was an image he never seen before and a feeling that was very new. He reaches up and wipes his chin, making sure he wasn't drooling on himself. Celena was dropped dead gorgeous. All those bitches he knew and had in the past, none of them can amount to her. He silently commands his dick to behave.
Letha looks at her cousin, amused with what she was seeing. Roman has his first crush! She taps his chin, making him close his mouth. He didn't even realize that his jaw was hanging.
"You're letting bugs in." Letha giggles.
Celena clears her throat and shifts uncomfortably in her high heels, "I feel ridiculous." She mutters.
Matt elbows her shoulder, "Celly, you're gorgeous. Deal with it."
Roman clears his throat, "Um, Letha, this is Matt. Celena's cousin. Matt. Letha. My cousin."
Matt looks at the most beautiful girl he's ever seen. He remembers her from that day when Roman was in the bathroom with some girl. She looked so hot as a flapper.
"Hi." He says.
"Hi." Letha smiles shyly.
Roman watches them uncomfortably and moves to head out the door, "Ok, let's go." He says and holds the door open for Celena and Letha.
Roman opens his car door and helps Celena in the car and frowns as he watches Matt help Letha into the mustang. Letha waves at Roman and Matt takes off towards the dance. Roman gets into his jaguar and starts it up.
"And what are you supposed to be?" Celena tilts her head in curiosity.
"Unimpeachable." Roman laughs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Celena stood bored as hell as she watches nearly the whole school dressed in the most ridiculous costumes dance to horrible music and drinking crappy punch. And getting hit on by every horny guy and groped. Roman saved her a few times from that, but now he disappeared on her.
At least Matt was having a good time with Letha from the looks of it.
Matt and Letha were both dancing and laughing together. Matt hasn't had fun like this in so long. He catches her when she lost her step and nearly falls.
"Woah! Easy now." Matt laughs.
"Sorry. I'm not that great of a dancer." Letha laughs.
"Neither am I, but that's how school dances are. It's not Dancing with the Stars. Just go with the flow." Matt smirks.
"Tell me about your cousin. What is she like?" Letha asks.
"Celena is a fun-loving type. Not afraid to say what she thinks. We've been close for years. Her and Viktor." He says.
Letha smiles, "It's nice to see relatives get along so well. You rarely see it today."
"Yeah, I know what you mean. We get mistaken as best friends more than family." He laughs, thinking literal.
Celena lifted herself from her heels and looked around for Roman. She finds him with two women at each arm, sipping on his flask. She scoffs to herself, "Typical."
But, Roman wasn't even paying attention to the women around him, he was more focused on Letha. He couldn't get what she said to him after he picked her up from her parent's house.
"Since when?" His voice echoes in his head as he replays the scene. He was trying to offer her a drink from his flask, like always when they go out together, but she refused for the first time.
"Since get over it." Letha pushes his flask away, but he keeps shoving it in her face.
"Have a drink like a civilized person, will ya?"
"Can we drop it?" Letha argues, trying to change the subject, but Roman wouldn't have it.
"We can drop it when you stop being a see-you- next-Tuesday and have a drink!" He laughs and tries to get his cousin to sip, but she refuses still.
"Roman, let it go."
"What? Are you pregnant or something?" He jokes, laughing, but he stops when he sees her face. She looked down in guilt. Roman's smile drops, "Shut up." He refused to believe it, thinking it a just a prank she was pulling. "Shut your lying whore mouth." His voice drops into a serious tone, still hoping she was just joking.
"I was waiting for the right moment, OK?" Her voice echoes in his head, he continues to glare at her and Matt, drinking his flask.
Celena walks over towards Roman and takes the flask out of his hand, "Please, tell me this is alcohol." She begs and takes drink. She coughs at the bitter taste, "Thank god." She hands it back to him and stands next to him. "Having fun?" She asks, sarcastically.
"As fun as a prostate check." He says sarcastically and with a bitter smile.
"Then, why even come?" Celena shrugs.
Roman shrugs, "I don't know, Letha wanted to come and dragged me along. You wanna dance?" He asks.
Celena laughs, "Not to this music." She scoffs. "Rain check till we have better music than this."
Roman smirks and sips on his flask again. He frowns when the girl next to him grips on his arm tighter, what was her name? Amy? Annie? Ashley! That's it. She always hangs around him like a clingy bitch. He shakes out of her grip and wraps an arm around Celena's waist, startling her.
Matt went to get some punch for Letha and when he comes back, he sees Letha talking to a boy dressed up in a leather jacket and jeans.
"Hey." Letha says, greeting her ex-boyfriend Tyler with a smile.
"Hey." He says, smiling back.
Celena looks over to them and spots a startled Christina dressed in a ballerina outfit with vines on her head. Celena guesses she was gonna talk to the guy, but Letha beaten her to it. Bring on the popcorn. But, sadly, Christina turned and ran away to the other direction.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing. I heard that you and Brooke Bluebell were friends."
"Oh. Yeah. Fuckin' sucks." Tyler mutter, averting his eyes, it was sad that she was gone.
"Well, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here." Letha smiles, offering friendship.
Ashely scoffs as she watches with Roman from across the gym, taking his arm again, "Is it me, or is every Tyler a complete waste of conception?" Roman mutters.
"So, did you want to come here and talk about cute boys all night, or do you want...to dance?" Ashley, dressed as a hippie for Halloween, purrs sensuously at Roman as she grips his arm.
Roman aggressively rips his arm out of her grip, not taking his eyes off his cousin, "No."
Ashley scoffs, "You're a real fucking sociopath, you know that? I don't even know how that's defined exactly, but it sounds right. Like, a psycho who doesn't have the balls to go all the way." She says bitterly and flicks her finger against Roman's bow tie before stomping away.
Celena scoffs, "Some bitches can't take rejection."
"This is boring as hell." Roman leans in closer, "How about we liven up the party?" He smirks and tucks his flask in his coat, taking Celena's hand and leads her out of the gym as they sneak away from the chaperons and security.
"Where are we going?" She asks as her heels echoed through the out the long, quiet hallway.
"Gonna help a friend crash the dance." Roman snickers. "Wait right here." He says and leaves her in the dark hallway all alone.
Celena sighs and leans on the wall next to a large window as she waits. She wondered what he had up his sleeve. She looks out the window and exhaled on the glass, making it foggy. Her mind keeps going to the dream. She traces on the fog, drawing the ouroboros and under it a pyramid. The moon, the An Angel, the Wolf. All three connected. Celena connects the moon to the wolf, the wolf to the Angel, the Angel to the Moon. What does it mean?
"Hey." Roman's voice startles her, he laughs when she jumps. "What? Are you scared?"
"No. You surprised me." She pouts.
"You're so cute when your angry." He laughs wraps an arm around her waist, walking her down the hall.
"So, took care of business?" She asks.
"All done."
Celena stops and turns to him, Roman skids to a halt and looks down at her.
"Roman, something has been nagging me. That night at the park. When Brooke was killed. How did you make that cop leave?"
Roman sighs and leans on a wall behind him, "It's something I've been able to do for a long time. First time I ever did it was when I was a kid. After my dad passed, kids would bully me and people who hated my mom would mouth off to me. I got so mad at this one kid and something just snapped inside me. I glared at him and said 'go jump off the bridge'. And he did. He jumped and broke nearly every bone in his body." That day still haunted him. He could still hear the sound of bones cracking.
"You didn't know." Celena shrugs.
"I don't feel bad. The kid was an asshole." Roman shrugs, not caring.
"Have you ever used your voodoo stare on a girl to get her to have sex with you?" Celena smirks.
"Actually, I have a few times before I became popular." He laughs.
"Not the type who likes rejection, I see." Celena giggles.
Roman gives her a glare and slowly walks up to her, "Celena, you would like to kiss me, wouldn't you? You want to just go into one of these room and fuck the shit out of me." He leans in close.
Celena stares into his eyes, falling into his gaze and leans in with him, but before their lips could touch...
"Pffffft! Hahahaha, sorry, I couldn't keep a straight face." She laughs, thinking he was just teasing her, but his shocked face and bleeding nose said differently. "Oh! You weren't joking."
He wipes away the blood, his shocked eyes never left his face, "For years, not once has anyone ever been able to resist."
Celena shrugs, "Guess there's a first for everything."
Roman stares her down, then takes her hand, walking her back to the dance and heads back to meet its Letha and Matt.
"Hey, we're splitting." Roman says to Letha as he nods at Celena, meaning him and Celena only.
"Now?" Letha asks in disbelief.
"I'm so bored. This thing is like a kind of suicide." Roman scoffs and turns to Matt, "Make sure she gets home safely." Roman gently tugs Celena to follow him outside.
Matt sighs and turns to Letha, "You feel like leaving?" He asks.
Letha sighs in disappointment, "Honestly, now, I am. Roman is right. It is kinda boring. Let's just go." Letha didn't feel like the dancing mood anymore. In fact, she was getting tired.
While, Matt, Celena, Roman, and Letha were leaving, the school's principal comes storming up to stage, waving his arms around while interrupting the band.
"Cut the music." He grabs the microphone, gaining everyone's attention, "Attention. I need your attention! Please maintain order and move to the nearest..."
"Snake!!!" A student screams out, causing the entire student body to swarm in panic, rushing to the nearest exit.
"Don't panic!" The principal yells over the screaming.
Roman was helping Celena into the car when all the students comes running out of the building, screaming in terror. He smirks and gets into the driver's seat and watches Celena look over to the screaming, then slowly turns to Roman.
"You're so evil." She bursts into laugher.
Roman snickers and drives off, brushing past Matt's car.
Matt and Letha watch Roman's car zoom by them and Letha watches the students panicking out of the school. She sighs in realization, thinking about why exactly Roman wanted to leave in the first place.
Roman drives in silence, still thinking about everything that Letha told him tonight. And Celena could sense his aggravation.
"Hey, what's wrong? Don't tell me your feeling guilty." She says.
Roman continues to stare ahead in anger. Silent for once tonight.
"Don't make me stop the car, Roman. You know I can do it." She warns.
Roman sighs, irritated. Not with her, with the whole situation with Letha. He slams on the brakes, causing Celena to grunt as the car jerks to a halt.
"Roman?" She asks carefully and slowly takes his hand in hers, giving him a comforting grip. He snaps his eyes to her hand, rubbing his thumb over her fingers. Her touch seems to always calm him. He loved feeling her soft fingers. Like silk.
"Letha's pregnant." He says, suddenly.
Celena looks at him in shock, "Holy shit." She whispers.
"Yeah. I thought it was her ex who did it, but she denies it." He scoffs, "She said it was an Angel."
Celena snaps her head at that word, "Angel."
"Like, literally an Angel. Wings and all."
"Like the dream?" She swallows hard.
Roman snaps his eyes to hers in realization. Of course!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"They're adjusting. Mom's just getting to the point where she can admit it, and Dad wants me to get an abortion."
"Holy cow." Matt lifts his brows in surprise.
Letha, basically, told him the whole story. About the Angel visiting her and impregnating her, her parents' reaction, Roman's. How it makes her feel. Letha sighs and laughs, "Sorry, I don't know why I'm telling you all this. I barely know you."
Matt smiles, "Just think of me as your preacher and this is your confession. Bless you, my child." Matt crosses her.
Letha laughs harder and covers her mouth.
"So, what are your plans?" Matt asks carefully.
Letha sighs and plays with her dress, "I'm having this baby. No way am I killing an innocent child nor just giving up on her."
Matt smiles, "Good. Every child deserves to live. And be happy. Also, 'she'? You have your heart on a girl?"
Letha smiles and nods, "Call me a 'feminist', but I have a strong belief it's a girl. But, I don't mind what I have. Just as long as the baby is healthy."
"All this stress your parents are putting on you isn't good for the baby. They should at least support your decision. I mean, it's your body." Matt says.
Letha looks at him in surprise, "Exactly." Before she could ask...
"I'm one of the few who actually pay attention in healthcare classes."
Letha looks at him, impressed, "Glad they're are some of you left in this world. Is that what you want to be? A doctor?"
"I never really thought about what I be or do, but, I want to help people. Before I came to Hemlock Grove, I visited Tibet for a couple of months. Helped around at the clinics. To see those people light up when they're finally getting help they need. It was a great feeling. So, yeah, I guess I do want to be a doctor. A pediatric, maybe." Matt grins.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Her dad wants her to get an abortion?!" Celena exclaims in disbelief.
Roman continues to drive the two of them home; after cooling off, Roman snaps out his anger and shock and started up the car again.
"He has no right to make a decision like that." She continues.
"She's not getting rid of it. She's determined to keep it. But, it's crazy. Right? An Angel coming down to just knock someone up? What purpose?" Roman says, confused with what the reason could be. If it was an angel.
"I'm as Christian as they come, but it's kinda unbelievable. But, with the dreams....If the Angel in our dreams is the one who knocked up Letha, the wolf could be Peter, but the moon....what does that stand for?" She mutters.
"Wait, wait, what?!" Roman stutters, did she just say...?
Celena realizes what she just did and groans in guilt, covering her face, "Shit!"
"So, Peter is really a werewolf?" Roman asks.
She sighs, "Peter is gonna kill me, but, yeah. He is. Which is why I trust him with my secret."
"So, you saw him...turn into a wolf?" He asks.
Celena shakes her head, "No, I never witnessed that and I don't know if I want to see that in person."
"Then, how do you know...?"
"Roman, there's something in the road. Stop. Stop." Celena says as she spots a body in the middle of the road.
Roman skids to a halt and looks at what Celena was talking about. There was a man lying passed out in the middle of the road.
"What the hell? Holy shit." Roman exclaims.
Suddenly, headlights flash behind them, it was Matt and Letha. They pull up behind Roman's car and gets out to see what's going on.
"Oh, my god, is..." Letha gasps.
Letha and Celena paces over to the man as he starts stirring and groaning softly. He slowly tries to sit up, but he looked out of it. He frantically waves his hand around as if he was trying to block an image.
"Hey! Hey, you OK?" Letha asks gently.
"I don't want to see that." The man mutters.
"Is he OK?" Matt asks.
Roman gets on the phone to call for help, "Yeah. Uh, there's this guy in the road. I nearly hit him. I-I think he's schizophrenic or something."
"Hey. What's your name?" Celena asks the man as he sits up, looking around in confusion. She notices one of his eyes. It's iris was bigger and foggy than the other, as if it's been damaged.
"...miles south of the White Tower." Roman continues to talk to the dispatcher.
"Ouroboros."
Celena gasps and jumps back a little in shock. That man muttered the one word that is branded in her life. How?
"Is that your name?" Letha asks gently, taking the man's hand in hers. Trying to keep him calm.
"What? My name?" The man frowns and looks around in confusion and pain.
"It's OK."
"Today I've seen the dragon." The man says, then looks up at Letha giving her a small smile, but turns towards Celena. "Moon."
Celena frowns when he holds up his other hand near Celena's face.
"Your soul is as bright as the moon."
Roman hangs up and turns to Matt to repeat what the dispatcher said, but jumps when he sees the main reaching out for Celena.
He and Matt, both get the girls away from him. Just in case. They didn't know if he was dangerous or what.
"No, it's OK." Letha says in assurance to both of them, but Celena was in shock.
Suddenly, the man turns to Roman and gives him an crazy grin while pointing his finger at him in accusation, "You. It was you." Then his expression turns to fear and he begins to wave his hand in frantic as he looks at them all, "I don't want to see that! I don't want to see that! I saw that cheerleader! I saw her get killed!" He withers all over the road in terror.
Roman holds on to Celena in protection, but she was too focused on what the man said to her earlier.
