Chapter 30: Rebirth

(Celena's outfit for Roman's Birthday^^^)

*WARNING* One last smut scene for this book, then that's it till the next two books.  Don't worry Hemlock Grove lovers, I plan to keep my scenes extra smutty for all but within the rules of WATTPAD (Sadly).  No one under 18 allowed in here.

On the day before Roman's birthday, Letha and Matt came over. She was getting better but needed one day at a time.

Norman, Letha, Matt, Celena and Olivia were all having a birthday dinner for Roman. Since no one wanted to deal with the Godfrey's for a while, it was a small gathering.

Letha was so happy to see Celena awake. She gives her a hug once she sees her. Since that day, she never made any visits to see anyone. So it's been while since Letha has seen Celena.

"Hey." Letha gives her a small smile as she hugs Celena tight.

Celena pulls back and smiles at her. Knowing that Letha didn't want to hear another 'Are you ok' from someone or anything else. She wanted people to stop treating her like a china doll.

"Matt told me you guys applied for college together." Celena exclaims.

Letha giggles, "Yeah. And we got letters today." Letha pulls out hers, "We got in!" She squeals happily.

Celena exclaims happily and hugs them both tight, "Congratulations!" She laughs at Matt, "Am I gonna have to start calling you doctor from now on?"

Matt scoffs, "Maybe. We shall see how we'll do first. Letha is going for a psychology major."

"Oh, no. Another Psycho Godfrey." Celena says dramatically.

"What's wrong with being a psychologist?" Norman scoffs and laughs.

"Nothing." Celena giggles.

Norman already expressed how proud he was of Letha and Matt.

"Congratulations to the lovely young ones." Olivia smiles as she holds up her wine glass and sips.

"What about you, Cell? Have you signed up yet for any colleges?" Matt asks.

"Hm, still can't think of what to do. I don't want to leave Hemlock Grove yet. Peter is coming back...one day." She shrugs. "And Vik is still out there."

Roman looks down as he thinks about Shelley out there with Viktor. His heart started to hurt again, but Celena wraps herself around his arm.

"Plus, can't leave this guy alone." She giggles.

Letha smiles as she watches Roman smirk down at Celena and leans to kiss her lips.

"You guys are too cute." Letha coos.

Roman wraps his arms around Celena and she rests her head against his chest.

"Maybe I'll sign up for online classes at the local colleges. Look around and see what's offered." Celena shrugs.

Roman was honestly relieved that Celena wasn't going to college anytime soon. At least to one far away from him. Hearing her taking classes from the local colleges was a big stress reliver. Once his birthday comes and goes, he could give her a part time job at Godfrey Institute. As his sexy secretary who he'll fuck daily in his office. He doesn't want any other woman, but her. In fact, he was thinking about popping the question after his birthday party. He's young, yes. But deep in his heart, he knows that Celena is the one. The dreams were his sign. He can't imagine being with anyone else but her. He already got a ring...that he stole from Olivia's jewelry box. He may hate his mom, but she had good taste in jewelry. Plus, he wanted something old fashioned for Celena. Something...gothic. So, he found what he believes was his great, great grandmother's wedding ring. He loves Celena and he knows they belong together. Peter may belong with her as well but Roman wants the first claim. And, who knows, maybe by the time Peter gets back, Celena will be knocked up with his child. Roman couldn't help but smile big as his heart warms up to the idea of having Celena pregnant with his child. In the past, seeing how his parents' relationship was, he didn't want to be a dad. He never wanted kids. But, for the first time, Celena makes him think he could be a great father. One day. He still wants to have fun before he retires his wild side.

After the dinner party, everyone left, including Celena, but she promised Roman she would be back soon. He wanted to be alone till then, so Roman was down at the lower floor, in the empty dusty indoor pool. He can't think of the last time he was in this pool.  Skinny dipping with Celena sounds so hot, but he wasn't planning to fill this pool up any time soon.  He laid on a long lounge chair and played with this lighter. He was bored and missing Celena bad. He hated being alone in this house with his mother. He still plans to kick her out or move the hell out himself after this day is over. He already had most of his stuff packed and ready to go. All he needed was Shelley and Celena to move with him.

After lighting up another cig, he looks up when he hears singing.

"Happy birthday to you...Happy birthday to you..."

Roman laughs as he sees Celena walking towards the steps of the pool and climbs down and walks towards him with a small cake and sparkling candles.

"Happy birthday, dear Roman. Happy birthday to you..."

Roman sits up and blows out a circle, laughing softly.

"You're such a dork." He snorts.

"And you're a dick, but I still love you." She giggles.

Roman smiles and takes the sparkle and flips it to stab it into the icing, extinguishing it.

"What did you wish for?" She asks.

He smirks and pulls her close, "To have you always in my bed."

Celena laughs, "Welp, that's not coming true now that you spoiled it." She giggles as he leans forward and trails ticklish kisses over her neck.

He takes the cake and scoops up some icing to bring it to her lips. She smirks and licks from the webbing to the fingertip and sucks on it. He groans softly as the sight gets him hard. With a wet pop, she pulls back and takes the cake and places it on the chair he was on and pulls on him.

"Come on. Rain check's due." She laughs.

Roman frowns, "What?"

She turns and grabs the boombox she had with her and places it on the edge of the pool and turns it on. Soft rock blares from the speaks and she turns back to Roman.

"Halloween Homecoming. You owe me a dance. Then I'll do anything you want. It's your birthday." Celena smiles.

Roman sighs and chuckles as he takes her in his arms and, together, they begin to move with the beat, slow dancing in the middle of the pool.

"Believe it or not, this is actually the first time I ever danced with someone before." Celena says.

Roman snorts in disbelief.

"I'm serious. Before I came here. Before I left Seattle, I was...such a nerd. Coke glasses. Pimples. The works. No one gave me the time of day. Except Matt and Andrew. As friends."

Roman sighs, "I have danced before, but never danced with someone I love. Well...Shelley once." He laughs at the memories. "I tried to give Shelley secret dancing lessons. She trashed her room so bad; it was like a tornado went through it. Mom was furious." He sighs softly.

"They're out there. I know it. They'll be back when they're ready." Celena reaches up and strokes his face.

Roman sighs deeply and leans down to kiss her. Celena giggles as a thought roams through his head. When she breaks the kiss, she reaches down and unzips his pants.

She pushes him against the pool wall near the diving board, "All you had to do was ask." She gets on her knees and frees his hard cock.

Panting, Roman watches her take his cock out of his pants and boxers. He groans softly as her lips wrap around him. Her tongue slithering all over him. When she slowly dragged her tongue from the base to the tip, his c**k twitched in pleasure. Roman moans softly as she takes him into her mouth and suck.

"Fuck, yes." He whispers and leans on the wall and roll his head back.

Celena reaches to cup his balls and squeezes them, plays with them as she sucks, causing erotic noises from Roman's throat. He grunts in pleasure as she slides him a little deeper. He presses his hands tight against the wall behind him, digging his fingers into the concrete, as if he's trying to find something to grip onto.

He is getting so close. Celena could tell this was going to be quick orgasm. She pulls back with a loud wet pop and strokes him in her hands. He moans as the feel of her hand, especially when her thumb rubs against his wet, dripping tip.

"Where do you want it?" She pants.

Roman grits his teeth and takes his c**k and slides it back into her mouth. He grips her hair and forces her fuck him with her throat.

"Oh, yeah. Take it. Take it all." He grunts and thrusts as she sucks him over and over. "Oh, fuck, yeah, baby. God, your mouth is so fucking amazing." He groans.

Her head bobs over his wet member and soon, he begins to gasp rapidly.

"I'm gonna come. I'm gonna come." He grunts and groans loudly.

Celena sucks and groans as she feels him squirt.

"Fuckfuckfuck...take it all." He stiffens as he twitches in her mouth and pants as the last drop was sucked dry. He pants and breaths heavily as his orgasm fades into aftershocks.

His limp member slides out of her mouth, leaving a wet trail over his pants. Celena wipes her mouth and licks her lips.

"Mmm, yummy." She bites her lips and Roman rests against the wall, laughing lazily. He felt drunk.

"Just wait till I'm up again." He teases. Celena giggles and rests her head against his chest.

"Happy birthday, darling." A voice speaks out.

Roman jumps and quickly tucks himself back in his pants and they both turn to see Olivia standing by the pool with a sparkler.

Olivia watches the two of them with a smirk.

"I was wondering if I might ask you to join me in the attic. There's something I'd like to show you." She says.

Roman sighs in irritation, "I'm busy."

Celena turns to Roman, "I gotta go for a second anyway. I forgot your present at home."

"That wasn't my present?" He smirks.

Celena rolls her eyes, "That kind of present is for later and more. But, the one I have at home for you is a present you'll like...in another way." She smiles.

Roman smirks, "Ok, can't wait to see it. Hurry back, ok?"

Celena moves and climbs out of the pool, passing by Olivia who watches her leave. Roman's smile drops as he faces his mother and climbs out of the pool as well. What she showed him in the attic was something that nightmares are made of. His nightmares.

There in Shelley's room was a black baby crib with mosquito netting surrounding it. Roman frowns in confusion and turns to Olivia.

"What is this?"

Olivia said nothing as she walks up to him and strokes his face. She looks deep into his eyes, giving him the familiar glare, "Remember." She orders.

Like a tidal wave, memories he never seen nor remember of take over his mind.

"All those secrets, whispers of a dream. My ordeal, so many disappointments over the years. Juliet and many others came. None with the mark. And many went. Until finally he came, my miracle. That luminous red caul I peeled from his wrinkled skin myself and consumed with the humblest gratitude. And, finally, the truth of your birthright."

Olivia's voice echoes around him. Blending in the screams of Letha's as he watches himself stand by her bed. Her under him as he...He felt so sick to his stomach. He didn't...he couldn't have.

"Take her. Fill her with your seed." Olivia's voice echoes in his past. "Carry on our bloodline."

Oh, my god.

"Who? Who? Who?!"

"It was an angel."

The voices of himself and Letha echo all around him. The dreams were right! He was the Angel. He raped Letha. All because of...

"She's waiting to meet her father." Oliva snaps him out of his haunted thoughts.

Roman looks at his mother in absolute terror, "What are you?"

Olivia places a finger over her lips, "Shh. What are we?" She smiles as she holds up a large needle and turns to the crib. He could hear the sound of a baby cooing, then when she pricked the baby, it began to cry. She turns and holds up the needle with a bloody tip before him with a sinister smile, "You know what you have to do."

Roman shakes his head furiously, it couldn't be true! No! "No. No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!"

He sobs in despair as he falls against a wall, sliding down to sit and with his knees up, holding himself.

"You can't control the hunger." She slowly licks the blood off the needle. "Let it take you." Olivia says simply as she watches her son fight his destiny continuously. She knows it was a useless inner battle. The appetite was too strong to ignore.

"No!" He shouts and rushes to the mirror, giving himself the glare and repeats over and over at his reflection, "You must make your heart steel. You must make your heart steel. You must make your heart steel."

"You must make your heart steel." Shelley's voice echoes in his memories.

"But, thrive on the light." Celena states strongly in his mind.

"Make your heart steel. Thrive on Celena's light." He whispers as blood pours down his nose.

"Clever boy." She smirks.

Roman turns around as he calms down and faces his mother.

"You are a warrior."

He smirks at her, "You don't win." And he takes the blade he took from the nightstand and slices his arms opens. He gasps in pain as the blood pours from his wounds and he slowly fall to the floor as he feels the life drains from his body. He cries softly when Celena comes to his mind. He didn't want to leave her, but he didn't want to be a monster either. What his mother is. A...a vampire. He didn't want to hurt anyone. He didn't to kill for blood. He didn't want to kill...Celena. This was to save her; he states strongly in his mind.

Olivia cradles him as he grows quiet and soon, life was no more in his eyes.

"Oh, my poor boy. I love you so much." She rocks him in her arms and begins to sing softly. A lullaby she would sing when he was a child. "Pai saraca inima mea Saraca inima mea Fost-am la doftor cu ea Fost-am la doftor cu ea..."

She thinks of the time when she first turned at 13, feeling the fangs in her mouth sharpen as she woke up. Thirsty for blood. The happiness she felt when her father finally smiled down at her.

"To rise, a victim of your own hand. It is the way of our kind." She whispers to Roman.

Suddenly, Roman gasps as he sits up. Taking in the new breath of life inside him. He felt...cold. He turns to look at his mother as she smirks at him.

"Oh, darling, I always win."

He stands up and moves slowly towards the crib, looking at the little baby in the crib who cries to be held or fed. Olivia stands next to him, leaning in close against his side.

"You're not a warrior. You are a dragon." She whispers. She turns her head and waits, "Do it." She commands.

Roman slowly turns to her and snarls as fangs burst through. He chomps on to her neck and takes in her blood.

Olivia cries out in pain but holds on to him as she feeds him. Life slowly drained out of her body and he lowers her to the floor. He lets go and Olivia sighs in bliss.

"So proud of you." She smiles weakly.

But Roman wasn't done. He surprises her by leaning in to kiss her, but she screams in pain when he chomps on her tongue and rips it out of her mouth. He spits it across the room but licks up the blood from his lips.

Scooping it up off his mouth and fingers. He smacks his licks and scoffs down at his lifeless mother.

"Oh...You talk too much."

He gets up and leave his mother's body and the baby in the room to clean up. But stops as he watches his own blood crawl up the wall to form wings over the paint and cracks.  He was the Angel.  The Upir.

When he walks down the stairs, dressed in a sharp black suit, Celena walks in the mansion with a birthday bag.

"Hey, sorry I took so long. I got your gift." She smiles.

But Roman held no smile. No warmth in his eyes. He was...cold. Celena frowns when she notices something was different about him.

"Roman, what's wrong?"

Finally, Roman gives her a soft smile, "Nothing. Nothing at all."

"You must make your heart still. But the crown, like everything, has its price. I only hope you're ready for it." Olivia's voice echoes all around him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pryce heard of the news about Roman and Olivia and was not surprised. He knew what Olivia was planning. He saved the baby for her after all. He knew what she was and what the baby was. Roman. All of them. He never wanted to participate, but what choice did he have. A mere human against a 19 century upir. But when Olivia arrived in a body bag, he was ecstatic. He smirks happily at Olivia's gray, cold clammy body.
"Well! I suppose we can find room." The nurse zips her up and carries her off.
Letha and Matt were leaving for college. Norman drove them both to the airport. Marie joined them. She couldn't let Letha leave without saying good-bye to her mother. Norman hugs Matt tight as Marie hugs and kisses Letha.
"You better take care of her." Norman warns.
"I'll guard her with my life." Matt smiles.
"I actually believe that." Norman smiles back and turns to Letha to give her a loving hug and kiss. "Call me as soon as you land."
"I will. Love you, Dad. Love you, Mom." She hugs them both one last time and takes off to catch her flight with Matt."
Norman sighs sadly as he watches his daughter leaves. He almost lost her once. He doesn't plan to lose her again. He trusts Matt.
Marie sighs sadly and turns to head to the parking lot with Norman.
"Marie...I'm sorry. For everything. I know it's too late, but...I'm sorry." Norman says from his car.
Marie said nothing. She gets into her own car and drives off.
(Before Celena woke up...)
On the road, miles away, Peter and Lynda were driving further away from Hemlock Grove. The wind blew gently against Peter's clean-shaven bald head as he gazes out at the passing lands.
"You hungry?" She asks.
Peter shakes his head and shrugs, "Not right now. Maybe later."
Lynda smiles, "You doing all right?"
Peter sighs and smiles at his mom, "Yeah."
She reaches and rubs his shoulder, "You're my little honeybun."
He laughs softly and turns back to gaze at the sight. Celena comes to his mind and he smiles. He'll see her soon. Once they reached the next town, he'll call her. He promises. He just hopes and prays that he'll find the people who carries the answers he seeks. He must find the answers. He frowns as he sees a large figure in the distance. It looked almost like Shelley, but when he blinks, the figure becomes a beautiful young girl. She smiles at him like Shelley did in the past.
In his heart, he knew it was her. He smiles as he takes that sign as a meaning that she was safe. Her and Viktor. Wherever they were.
Locals still visit the cemetery from time to time at Sheriff Sworn's grave, his daughters, and Christina's. After a couple places flowers down on Christina's tombstone, they pass by without realizing that Christina was screaming from the grave.
Pryce walks through the hidden lab and looks at his Project Ouroboros. He was proud of the results, but that wasn't why he was down there.
He walks towards a hidden wall and uncovers the number pad to type in his code. When the door opens, a great sapphire light shines in the hidden room. His breath catches in his throat at the sight. It always took his breath away.
A nurse walks up to him with a tablet, "Doctor, I managed to time the energy spike with the same day of the incident with Letha Godfrey. It's a perfect match." She says as Pryce looks at a map of the building. The maternity ward is directly under his lab.
"Amazing, after 20 years, not one single peep. But a month ago, it speaks. Why is that?" Pryce wonders and looks at the light again.
He walks into the lab with the tablet and traces his eyes over the large glass cage. He taps on the glass and waits. Not one reaction from it.
"We need to keep a closer eye on the girl. She holds the key." Pryce states as he looks at the rock structure that glowed brightly in the cage. Soft singing and muffled booms were made from behind the glass, but Pryce couldn't hear from the soundproof walls. He smiles big at the beautiful light, excited to find out what exactly is it and how much power it carries.
TO BE CONTINUED...
*And that is the end of Hemlock Chronicles.  Next book will be based on season 2.  Should I keep Miranda for the second season or kick her out?  Love to hear your thoughts.  Lots of love. Song*
