Lip Sync Battle Pt. 1
•••••••••••••••••••••
I sat in the backstage dressing room that they had me use for the week leading up to the 'battle' with Melissa. I hummed the tune of Helpless as I uncapped my water bottle and took a swig.
I leaned towards the mirror and fixed my dark maroon lipstick that had smudged slightly while I was hydrating.
In the reflection of the mirror, I saw Melissa standing awkwardly in the doorway. Her fist was raised as if she was about to knock on the doorframe.
"Hey!" I greeted the blonde with a friendly smile.
"Hi, Alyssa! I just wanted to say hello and good luck, before the show started. So, hello–!" She laughed, giving me an excited wave. "And good luck!"
"You too, Melissa! This is going to be so much fun!" I told her with a warm and excited smile.
"This is going to be a blast!" The Supergirl actress exclaimed happily. "We're going to have so much fun!"
"Oh, I almost forgot! Any 'smack talk' that I say during the show, I don't mean at all! It's just in good fun!" I forewarned the blonde, making air quotes with my fingers as I said the words 'smack talk'.
"I know and the same goes for anything I say, but I have to warn you that none of my smack talk probably won't even be considered as such." She laughed and I chuckled, being able to relate.
"Same here, hon." We laughed a bit more, before the stage director, Hannah appeared behind Melissa.
"Ladies, the show starts in ten. We need you both by the stage entrance." The redhead told us, before quickly leaving to sort out other things.
"Let's bounce, Supergirl!" I joked, as I stood from my seat at the vanity and looped arms with the blonde.
"Yes, let's bounce, Eliza!" She laughed as we made our way to where we were to enter the stage. "You know what, Alyssa? I think we're going to be great friends."
"I agree, Melissa." I told her, sharing a smile with the blonde.
"Alright! Alright! Welcome to Lip Sync Battle and boy, do we have a show for you!"
"You ready to kick some metaphorical ass, Mel?" I asked the blonde with an excited grin.
"Definitely." She replied, returning my grin. "What about you, Lyssa? You ready to kick some metaphorical ass?"
"Hell yeah!"
"It's Battle of the Broadway Stars tonight! First up we've got the star of the hit CW show Supergirl! Give it up for Melissa Benoist!"
"Knock 'em dead." I told her as she gave me an excited smile, before she burst through the large doors. I joined the round of applause with a big smile on my face.
"Our next competitor isn't afraid to burn the toxic people from her life! The woman who portrays the helpless and hopeful Schuyler sister in the hit Broadway production Hamilton! Give it up for Alyssa Dylan!"
I burst onto the stage with a big grin, giving some people in the front row high fives, before joining Melissa beside LL Cool J.
"Alright, we're going to have Alyssa start us off. So Melissa, you go and hang out at the bar." The host instructed, causing the audience to applause. The blonde went and sat down, after sharing a high five with me.
"Hello, Alyssa! What do you have for us tonight?" He asked me, causing me to grin mischievously.
"I've got an oldie, but a goodie planned for you guys." I admitted winking at the crowd.
"Alright, let's see it!" With that he joined Melissa by the bar and I took center stage.
A smirk grew on my lips as the music started and I began to lip sync with the song.
"Oh! Well imagine,
as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor
and I can't help, but to hear
No, I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words." I mouthed, feigning a surprised facial expression. A smile quickly made its way onto my lips as I lip synced the next bit.
"What a beautiful wedding!
'What a beautiful wedding' says a bridesmaid to a waiter.
Yes, but what a shame
What a shame the poor groom's bride is a whore!" I gave a little hop towards the edge of the stage as I pretended to sing this, placing my index finger over my mischievous smirk.
"I chimed in with a 'haven't you people ever heard of
Closing a goddamn door!'
No! It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of poise and rationality.
I chimed in 'haven't you people ever heard of
Closing a goddamn door
No! It's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of–!" I continued to dance energetically around the stage as the song played.
"Oh!
Well, in fact
Well, I'll look at it this way
I mean technically our marriage is saved
Well, this calls for a toast so
Pour the champagne
Oh!
Well in fact
Well, I'll look at it this way
I mean technically our marriage is saved
Well this calls for a toast so
Pour the champagne
Pour the champagne."
My mischievous smirk grows into a grin as the brief instrumental plays, before starting the chorus back up.
"I chimed in with a 'haven't you people ever heard of
Closing a goddamn door'
No!
It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of poise and rationality
I chime in 'haven't you people ever heard of
Closing a goddamn door'
No!
It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of poise and rationality
Oh, yeah!
I chime in 'haven't you people ever heard of
Closing a goddamn door'
No!
It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of poise and rationality
I chime in 'haven't you people ever heard of
Closing a goddamn door'
No!
It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of
Poise
And
Rationality" As the song ends, I throw my fist up into the air dramatically. The crowd applauds as LL joins me back at center stage.
"Wow, just wow! I was not expecting that from you at all!" He laughed, before joking. "The prim and proper Eliza Schuyler has let loose a little, huh?"
"That she has." I chuckled into my mic with a nod of my head.
"We'll see more of our girl Ally later, but now let's see what Melissa has for us!" The host exclaimed, causing the crowd to cheer.
"Panic! At The Disco? Really?" Melissa asked, turning to me as we swapped places.
"Honey, you're not on Glee anymore! It's a little more hard core here in LA!" I joked, causing the crowd to go wild.
"You know what, Alyssa? I bet you totally watched Glee, like regularly, before it ended!" She teased back with a grin.
"Not gonna lie, I totally did!" I admitted, making us, LL Cool J, Chrissy Teigen, and the crowd to erupt into laughter.
"What have you got for us, Melissa?" The only male on stage asked the blond with a laugh.
"Well, I've, uh got something special for my girl Alyssa." She said sending me a smug grin, which I returned with a curious one.
"Ooh! I have a feeling that this is gonna be good!" LL said, before joining me at the bar.
"Not gonna lie, I'm both curious and worried now." I joked, earning a laugh from the crowd.
"You should be, Lyssa!" She chuckled with a grin. Suddenly, You'll Be Back started playing on the loudspeakers and I lost it.
"What?!" I asked in shock with my mouth agape.

When the song ended, I was doubled over in laughter and I couldn't help but applaud my opponent along with the crowd.
"That was the greatest thing I've ever witnessed!" I complemented the blonde, before joking. "And I can feel Jonathan laughing his ass off from here."
Melissa did a mock bow to me as we laughed and LL announced the commercial break. We then went to go prepare for the final round.
