The bad guys were now living all together in a large cave, little did they know that something big was going to happen, Dream visited them from time to time and every time he did Nightmare was very happy. Today Nightmare was relaxing by the nearby lake when he heard screaming coming from his home, he rushed toward the screaming and saw his friends surrounding a small, skeleton child. The child was dressed in a pastel sailor outfit (it's Dream and Ink's child lol), they were not attacking the child, so why was he screaming? He must've been frightened so Nightmare went up to him, the small child whimpered and Nightmare picked him up, The small child took interest in Nightmare and started to play with his clothes, Nightmare chucked and put the small skeleton down, suddenly an arrow flew past Nightmare's head,"HANDS OFF MY KID!" An angry voice shouted, Ink stood in a tree with a crossbow that could shoot six arrows at once, he hopped down from the tree and his kid rushed toward him, Nightmare told everyone to go back inside and at that very moment Ink shot six arrows, aiming at all of their souls, he fired which caused Nightmare to push/shove everyone in the cave very quickly and he got shot six times instead, most of them in his tail and one in his chest.

He fell to the ground, bleeding, his crew rushed to protect him, they surrounded him and just as Ink was about to shoot another one he heard Dream call " STOP!" Ink stopped and looked at Dream, "why do you want me to stop Dream? They tried to eat our poor little child!", Dream then gasped at the sight of Nightmare with six arrows on him and blood spilling everywhere, Nightmare looked like he was dying, he was coughing up blood. Dream ran up to Nightmare,"WAIT NO! THEY'LL EAT YOU-" Ink yelled at Dream, but he didn't care, he just wanted to make sure Nightmare was alright, they let Dream pass but they kept Ink far away, Dream hugged Nightmare who now had tears in his eyes, "I-I'm so sorry I dident come sooner Nightmare..." Dream said, he then commanded Ink to call the vet so he could take Nightmare in.

Nightmare drifted in and out of consciousness while being loaded into the Van, the other sanses could not come so they had to wait for their king to return home, when they got there Nightmare did not fight against anything, as long Dream was there, he felt safe.

(Meanwhile with the sanses)

The cave was quiet, only an occasional chatter would be heard but nothing was really the same with Nightmare gone, they decided to make Error 2nd in command because he was the 2nd most powerful one in the group (I think? I mean he's literally a giant spider so-)

Nightmare's health conditions were doing much better now and he was ready to be released into the wild, he just had to go through one final test, they needed to take a small sample of his blood so they could study it, Nightmare saw the syringe that the nurse held and he immediately panicked, were they gonna put him to sleep again?! He started thrashing his tail about and hissing angrily, Dream stroked his head again and said,"oh no, no, no don't worry, they wont put you to sleep, it's just gonna be a small pinch okay?" Nightmare hesitated then nodded, he felt the needle go in and he whimpered a bit, they got a bit of his blood and carried it to the lab, They set Nightmare free and he returned back to his base.
