Hey x hope you're liking this ❤

Malea's POV

"His grandmother was shot dead."

Those words kept echoing in my mind, my vision blurs, I feel sick.

I'm brought back to reality by a loud scream coming from Shawn. He had gained consciousness as they cleaned his wound with alcohol.

"Hey, I've got you." I coo in his ear, stroking his cheek with my thumb.

"It hurts..." he throws his head to the side, closing his eyes. One of the paramedics injects something into his arm.

"Its a sedative. It'll knock him out until we can get the bullet out and him hooked on strong painkillers." She explains as Shawn closes his eyes.

I plant a kiss on his forehead, sweaty and red from everything that his body was fighting right now.

However, the largest battle he was going to fight was still coming.

When we got to the hospital, Shawn was taken into immediate surgery. I take a seat in the waiting room, anxiously tapping my foot on the floor.

I then realise Karen is approaching the waiting room, tears in her eyes, holding a plastic bag.

"I'm so sorry." I give her a tight hug. "Where's Aaliyah?"

"She... well..." Karen pauses for a second. "A bullet grazed her nose. She's okay, she's just cleaning up."

"Oh my God, is she okay?"

"She's absolutely fine. There's a small cut on her nose, but she's okay. How is Shawn? I'm incredibly worried, Andrew told me he was shot. " Karen asks, sitting beside me.

"He's been shot twice and is currently in surgery." I explain, sighing.

"Malea we bought you a change of clothes, you might aswell shower and change." Karen passes me a bag with some clothes that I left at their house.

"Thank you." I smile back, and go into the visitor bathroom and quickly take a shower.

I towel dry my hair and tie it into a bun.

As I leave the visitor bathroom, a doctor walks up to Karen and Aaliyah, who had a small bandage on her nose.

I amble over to them, desperate to know if Shawn was okay.

"He was incredibly lucky. The bullet avoided any organs, but it got stuck in his rib which caused a break in the bone. Other than that, he lost a lot of blood. He is going to be very weak for a while, just keep him well rested." The doctor explains. "You can see him. Room 492."

"Karen wait..."

"What is it?"

"Shawn doesn't know that his grandmother is..." I can't bring myself to speak.

"You have to tell him. You're his best friend and he won't be embarassed to let his emotions out." Karen explains.

"Yeah... I'll do it. But he's on strong painkillers right now, I don't know when is best to tell him."

"Just sit with him for a bit. Like only you two. I need to take Aaliyah home as she needs to rest. I can't bear to see Shawn hooked up to all these machines." She almost whispers at the end.

I felt incredibly sorry for her - she had lost her mother in law and both of her children were injured. One seriously.

"I also don't think he's over his dad's death. I mean, we distanced over the years and it turned into hatred when he left after Shawn got big. Aaliyah was never close to him, but Shawn was very fond of him and kept in contact. I don't want him to suffer like he did last time." She explains, tesrs welling in both of our eyes.

"It's okay, I'll spend some time with him and let him know. You take Aaliyah home, I'll take good care of Shawn." I offer, giving her another hug.

I gently push the door open, revealing Shawn. The first thing I notice is the masal cannula. Then I see a huge bandage covering his side, numerous bruises surrounding his wound. Machines surrounded him, and he was hooked up to an IV.

His eyes open slowly, and I instantly sit beside him, planting a kiss on his forehead.

"What happened Malea?" He croaks, pain in his voice.

"There was a shooting. You've been shot and you had surgery." I explain, hesitating.

"Oh... where is everyone? Are you okay? What about my family?" He was worrying, and was about to sit up but I push him down so he lays down.

"Your mum is okay. She's with Aaliyah."

I've known Shawn my entire life. We are not only best friends, we are like siblings. He knows when I'm lying or trying to hide something. I guess there is no point trying to hide anything.

"Please can you hold me?" He was being clingy - something he did when he was in pain.

"Yeah... lemme see. I don't want to hurt you." I lay beside Shawn, and gently lift his head on to my chest.

"Is my sister okay?"

I decide to just tell him the truth. It would be better this way.

"Your sister is okay but hurt..."

"W... what? Where is she?" Shawn tries to move but flinches in pain.

"Keep still darling, you're gonna hurt yourself. Aaliyah... well a bullet grazed her nose but she's fine. She's home now."

"That's good. For a second I was worried."

"Shawn I... erm... your Avo."

"What about her? Is she on her way to see me?"

It hurt me deeply how oblivious he is.

I didn't know it then, but the next five words would change Shawn's life.

"She's gone Shawn, she's gone."

Sorry for another cliffhanger. I seem to love them hehe
