The first three lines of this chapter is present day Shawn reminising over what happened, then it goes back to where we left off last chapter x

Shawn's POV

That moment meant everything to me. She meant everything to me.

How could I have been so wrong?

(So basically we are back to where we left off)

"It was nice spending time with you today Hailey." I smile, opening the door for her.

"I enjoyed it too." She giggles, kissing my cheek and leaving, a smile not leaving my lips.

It was the best day I'd had in a while. We got on so well - we had the same family values, similar interests, music tastes, everything. To me, it seemed like we were meant to be.

I felt a little dizzy so I decided to lie down and rest. Soon enough, I was asleep, actually feeling happy.

For the next few weeks, Hailey and I were texting everyday. When I felt down or stressed, she would be my go to person, my number one.

She proved her loyalty to me yesterday. This is what happened.

Today had been a mentally draining day. I was in NYC and I'd had interview after interview, no breaks in between. I got back to my hotel and laid in bed.

My heart was racing, pounding, at an alarming rate. I was wide awakd yet exhausted at the same time. I couldn't do anything.

That's when the tears kicked in. They kept on falling; it felt like I was drowning.

I couldn't move, breathe or think properly. Somehow, I find the strength to get my phone from the table and I call the last person I texted.

Hailey.

She answers in a heartbeat.

"Shawn hey" she chirps. "Hun, are you okay?" She asks as she realises that I couldn't speak.

"I... I can't breathe." I croak, tears still falling from my eyes.

"Hey listen to me. Listen to my voice. You're okay, I'm going to stay right here until you're okay. We all love you, me in particular, and all want to help you. Just breathe with me okay. Keep breathing." Slowly, my breathing evened out, and the tears stopped falling.

"T... Thanks." I stutter.

"Its okay. I'm in LA right now so I can't come to see you, but send me a message if you need anything."

With that, she hung up.

My point is, on that day she told me she loved me. We would go on low key dates, getting photographed as we all know how famous she is. People were going crazy, I was crazy, but I loved it.

I was in LA right now and so was Hailey. We hadn't seen each other in a while so I decide to message her.

Hey I'm in LA, you busy? X

I quickly send the message, hoping that she would respond quickly.

I felt different today. I felt like things should be changed today.

When she came over I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend

Just then, Malea walks in.

"Hey Shawnie." She jokes, sitting beside me in bed.

"You know I hate it when you call me Shawnie." I reply sternly, making Malea giggle.

"Your mum calls you that all the time!" She punches my arm playfully.

"Yeah but she's my mum. She can call me whatever she wants to." I rest my head on Malea's shoulder, her arm instinctively going around me.

"You see happier, what's going on?"

"Basically I've messaged Hailey if she's free." I smile, but she doesn't smile back.

"Shawn just... I..." Malea sighs before continuing. "Just be careful, you're vulnerable right now and... yeah. Just please be careful." Malea explains, genuine worry in her eyes.

"Its fine. Hailey's amazing. We are practically dating right now and I couldn't be happier." I reply, being genuinly honest. I was deeply in love with her even though we weren't official.

The press thought we had gone official as Hailey had posted some pictures of us together. As much as I would have loved to be officially dating her, we weren't up to that stage yet.

"Malea... I want her to be my girlfriend." I blurt out, smiling.

"You really love her don't you?" Malea asks seriously, I nod and couldn't help but smile.

"I'm in love with her." I whisper, Malea not hearing.

"Right, lets watch a film or sommat. I'm bored." Malea suggests, turning her laptop on.

I was so focused on the film that I forgot about Hailey. Quickly, I check my phone to see if she had replied.

No response.

Maybe she was just busy. I toss my phone to the side and continue watching TV.

The film finished and I decided to check my phone. Still, no reply.

"Has she not replied?" Malea asks casually.

"Nah not yet." I sigh, clicking on the Twitter app.

I regretted that. So much.

But not as much as I regretted getting close to Hailey.
