The Golden Ticket Question

Once he could walk, Nova went straight to Zenyatta. "Hello, Nova. How are you feeling?" "I'm alright, how you doin'?" "I am very well, thank you. How long will it be until your prosthesis is created?" "I dunno, Angela said it could be a week or a month." "Is the wait making you anxious?" "A little bit, yeah. I wanted to thank you for helping Genji and keeping him sane while I was...you know." "You are very welcome, though I had very little to do with it. Genji is just as strong willed as you are." "Yeah but even the strongest people need help sometimes. So thank you." "You are welcome, Nova. I wish you a speedy recovery." "Thanks." Hanzo led him to mess hall and sat him down to get him water. Adjusting to the fake arm proved more difficult than anything Nova had done with the arm. He went to Jesse with questions more often than he'd like to admit, but the cowboy was happy to answer and help him. He was currently struggling to open a darn bottle of soda and he sighed, groaning against his arm as he crumpled down to the floor, giving up on the drink. Lucio's face peered down at him. "Havin' some trouble there?" "I have been trying to open that damn thing for ten minutes. Open iiiittt."

The DJ laughed at his friend and opened the bottle far too easily in Nova's eyes. "Grr." "Is that a nice way to thank me for helping you?" "Seems right to me." As payment for his services, Lucio took a big gulp of the drink before handing it to the whining man. "Christ you're mean to me." "I'm only mean to my friends." Nova giggled and sipped at his soda, happy to finally be able to drink it. Something was gently laid on his head and he looked up, almost going cross-eyed to see Lena there, with her arm on his head like an armrest, next to Hana. "You would think that with a stronger arm, you could open a bottle. But even your metal hand is still weak and girly." "Shush." He blinked and a cyborg ninja was right next to him, lips pressed gently to his cheek. He let out a squeak of suprise, sending everyone in the room into a fit of laughter. "Goddamn you, Genji. You know I'm weak to your sneak attacks!" Genji pulled him into a hug. "That is what makes them so powerful, Koneko."

"You are a mean little bitch. Are you aware of- Hanzo did you know this?" "I have known for many years. He is also a bit of a diva." "A bit...excuse me, a BIT of a diva? Honey I am the QUEEN of divas." Genji did the sassy snap head shake thing and Nova laughed against his shoulder. "He's not wrong. He takes three hours in the bathroom." "I must look FLAWLESS, do you hear me?" He did a perfect impression of a stereotypical, supreme diva gay man, even strutting across the floor with Nova on his hip. Jesse walked in on the turn of Genji's heel and saw Nova turn red, hiding his face in his hands. "Exactly what did I just walk in on?" He asked nobody in particular. "He's being gay. That's what the hell he's doing and he won't let me off this crazy train!" "Darling, there are no brakes on this train. Just a caboose." The agents lost it and Lena fell down from laughing so hard. "Nova, how on Earth did you get him to do that?" Hanzo asked between laughs and wheezes.

Nova clung onto his boyfriend and wiped away a tear. "I don't have a clue. Were you always this gay or did I just close my eyes when it happened?" "I'm only this gay for you." Some chuckled, some awwe'd, and Jesse stepped in to get some food, jokingly suggesting they get married since they were so gay for each other. "You know what? That sounds...like the best thing I have ever heard in my life. But this life doesn't suit marriage." "It can, Koneko." Nova blinked and the laughter died down to a mix between stunned and awkward silence. "Hey, I was only jokin'." Jesse cut in, trying to diffuse the tension, and Genji smiled at him. "I am not. You do not have to answer right now, Nova..." The empath felt his heart speed up as Genji wrapped his entire body around him to shield him from the prying agents, even though everyone already knew what he was doing, and he leaned in close to talk as quietly as he could. "I wish to marry you." Nova furiously blinked away tears and his trembling arms wrapped around his partner. "I...I need to go outside and get some air. Lena, Jesse, come with me?"

The two jogged after Nova once he pulled back, and followed him outside. Hanzo stepped up to his brother, many emotions crossing his face. "Brother...do you mean what you said? Think about it, the harships you will go through because others do not accept you. Would you put Nova through all that, even after what he has been through?" "Hanzo, I would never dream of forcing him to do anything. I am merely putting it on the table. Besides, I know it would make you happy as well. You like him, and he's already considered you family." "This is not about me, I want to make sure you will not take it back one day, that you truly wish to spend the rest of your life with someone." Genji gave him a small smile. "Nothing would make me happier than being with him for the rest of my life." "Why didn't you get down on one knee and pull out a ring?" Baptiste asked from the fridge. "Putting him on the spot like that would only cause him stress and he would not think clearly. That is the last thing I wish to do to him."

Nova's legs gave out on him when he finally got up on the roof; he face planted on the cold, concrete ground but paid the pain no mind. "You alright, Love?" Lena helped get him to sit up. "I have no idea. What am I supposed to be feeling right now? I feel a lot of things and I'm not sure if they're right." "Darlin', any way that you feel is right. Long as you stay true to your heart. Do you wanna marry 'im?" There was a pause and the two thought he would say no. "I think I do. He's proved that...he really likes me for real and won't hurt me. I think marrying the man is a good way to pay him back, right?" "You feel indebted to him?" That worried Lena. "Yes and no. I feel like I don't do enough to thank him or any of you for all that you've done for me over the years, but I don't feel like I owe him a relationship for it though." "I agree with Jesse. If you love him and can see yourself in a happy relationship with him, then go for it. I want to see you happy and taken care of."

"What about Overwatch? And the missions and you guys? I don't wanna leave." "Why the hell would you leave? We like you here. I don't think a wedding'd be a big enough deal to kick you out. If you wanna make sure, talk to Winston." In the end, Nova decided his answer would be 'yes' and he remained outside, sending his friends to deliver the message. A half hour after being alone, the door opened and someone sat beside him. Based on the feelings they had, Nova knew it was Hanzo. "You do not need to impress me, nor do you need my permission to marry my brother. The only thing I want is to see him happy." Nova sniffled and dabbed under his eyes. "Does he make you happy?" "Yes, I...I didn't think another person could make me this happy. I have no guard up when I'm around him, I actually like when he touches me, I like that...he genuinely doesn't judge me. I never thought this was possible. If you told fifteen year old me that I'd be someone's fiance and they don't abuse me...I would have run away."

Hanzo frowned. "I do not think he is capable of hurting you, let alone abusing you." "I know, that's what's so scary." "What is so scary about not being hurt?" "Everything! I'm not used to it, all I've ever known is pain and fear from people in my family, people I've dated, boyfriends of the women in my family...I'm trying to say that I'm actually happy he won't hurt me and that's what scares me so bad." "Do you think...that you will one day wake up and he will be gone or he will hurt you?" "I...I don't know. I don't know." He groaned and covered his eyes, hiding the tears from his brother-in-law. "I think that you must put your fears aside if you wish to heal. I am not saying to ignore your past, but I believe your fear is what is holding you back from true happiness." "I hear wh-what you're saying." "You do not need to think of the wedding, yet. I know that is a concern of yours, you are not so good at hiding your feelings from me." Nova chuckled and lowered his hands, seeing Hanzo hold his arm out.

Nova inched over and cuddled up to him. "Being kind hearted must run in your family. You and Genji...are nicer than most people I've met, and you've gone through some crazy shit. Sometimes I wonder if I'm as nice as you guys say I am." "We are kind because we know pain as well. The relationship Genji and I had as we grew up was strained at best. As children, we were very close, but the duties of our clan were pushed on us until we split apart. After our father died, I became the head of the clan and the elders turned to me when Genji would not take his own duties seriously. For a while, it was tolerable, but he did something that angered our elders and it was the last straw. We fought, we hurt each other badly, I believed he needed to set aside his immature antics and be the perfect son our clan expected of us both, he wanted to leave the clan behind. At the time, I thought it to be an insult of the worst kind, to walk away from your family like that. I struck him down, destroyed his body and ruined his life.

Once I realized what I had done, I was stricken with anger, grief, and confusion, and I slaughtered everyone in our house that night. I allowed myself to be blinded with those feelings, the hatred I had for our family, for forcing their ideas and beliefs and traditions on us, to push it on me until I cared for nothing but honor that was fake. I did not want to live for a long time, I felt that even my death would not be enough to pay for my sins. When Genji showed up in Hanamura, with you at his side, I thought it a lie. I thought I had created a hallucination from my grief, but you both proved me wrong. With your help, Genji learned to accept his new life, and I learned to forgive myself of my wrongdoings. Our father severely punished us for our mistakes until we made no mistakes, but he truly cared for us as his sons. I was his little assassin and Genji was his little sparrow. Your family...it makes me sick that a person could do all they have done to you and have the nerve to still call themselves family."

Zenyatta watched and listened from afar, not wanting to disturb them. "You and Zenyatta...made our futures possible. I cannot thank you enough, Nova. This may be over the line, but perhaps now you may have the brother you always should have." That made Nova look up at him, tears from a new reason made his eyes shiny. "Y...you actually want that role?" "I do. I would like to be your new brother. I could never replace the one you have and I would not be so arrogant as to try." "Y...I..." Nova cried against Hanzo's side at the idea of having a real brother, along with Jesse. Hanzo rubbed at Nova's arm, turning to look at the still silent monk. "I did not wish to intrude on this moment. Doctor Ziegler wishes to check on Nova before she retires for the night." Nova whimpered and reluctantly pulled away from the embrace. "You're both brave, Hanzo. Two of the bravest people I know." As Zenyatta guided Nova back inside and Genji took Nova's place beside his brother. "Nova, congratulations on your engagement. I am very happy for both of you." "Thank you. I'm happy too, but scared to death. Hanzo told me that I have to put my fear behind me but I don't know how to do that."

"As you have taught others to do, you must become one with your flaws. Learn how to live with your fears and do not let them choose your paths for you." They found Angela's lab and Zenyatta went back to his room. "So you and Genji...I would have thought you would end up with Jesse." "Jesse es mi hermano. He's like my brother, Hanzo is too." "Either way, I'm glad you have each other. Shirt up." Nova lifted his shirt to his chest so the stitches on his stomach could be examined. "You seem to be a fast healer, these can be removed soon." "Not that I'm a fast healer, just that...it just doesn't get worse." That night, once the sun set, Nova had taken a long shower and was sitting on his bed, in his pj pants and without a shirt, and Genji stepped in, smirking when he saw his fiance half naked. He shut the door and crawled on the bed, pushing Nova to lay on his back and gently holding his hands.

"Do not feel pressured, Koneko. There are many types of weddings in many different places to choose from. We can put it aside for a year if you need to." All the years they'd known each other, Nova still wasn't used to having his issues taken into consideration. "I'll do whatever you want. I know you want a big, fancy party all the time and I think...well even if I couldn't handle it, I still would." "I do not want a fancy party. I want to show the world that I have the most amazing and special partner in the world. There is a difference." "I understand that." In truth, Nova had no idea what he wanted in a wedding. He knew that the one person he wanted to be there most, wouldn't be able to go. That hurt more than losing his arm. "Unrelated but...I'm really, insanely proud of you and your brother. It blows my mind that you lived the life you did and you still turned out to be such good people. I love you and I'm so so proud of you." "Thank you. As cruel as it may sound, I don't think we could have left that life if Father didn't die when he did and me and Hanzo didn't have that fight."

Nova wrapped his arms around Genji's neck and brought him down to kiss him. Genji moaned and melted into the touch. Nova was still getting used to the idea of intimacy and kissing, and it was pretty rare that their lips connected; Genji was as patient as he could be and felt like he was doing a good job of not rushing his partner into anything. When Nova pulled back, his cheeks were dusted with pink and he looked up, trying to decide if they could go further. "Whatever you wish to do, Nova, I am here." His stomach heated up and he felt nausea eat at him. "I...I'm...I've never fucked, ok? Well I've fucked myself brainless more times than I can count but...I've been too afraid and anti-social to let it get that far with another person." "You mean I...would be your first?" "Th-that is what virgin means, yes." Nova squirmed under his gaze and fought to not look away. "You are full of surprises, Koneko. Is that why you have been...nervous and reluctant about it?"

Nova nodded and let go of his partner. "Yeah. A few people tried to get there...like I told you...but I've been lucky and it didn't happen. Then I was just...too afraid of other people to...to..." "You do not need to explain yourself. The only thing I need right now is for you to tell me what you want to do." "As of right this second...I want to get you off so you can sleep. I am not sleeping with you if you have a boner." "It shouldn't surprise me that you can feel when someone is horny, but it does every time. I do not object, but I can take care of it myself if it would make you feel better." "Aw you're so sweet, but I don't mind. C'mon. We've done this before, plus practice makes perfect right?" "So I've heard." Genji rid himself of his suit and got comfortable beside Nova. "Do you wanna use the toy tonight?" "I leave my fate in your dainty little hands." Nova rolled his eyes and got up to get their bottle of lubricant and thin, but long, dildo Nova got for his birthday.
