Short 9: A Talk Between a Goetia Mother and her Daughter
Author Note: Place Before Helluva Boss: The New Employee Episode 9
One day in the Goetia Mansion, specifically Octavia's bedroom, she is on a video phone with Amara.
"So Amara, how are you doing working for I.M.P?" Octavia asks.
"Doing fine, killing targets, meeting with clients, and in some cases, we have to use a lot of our weapons and supplies, and having to deal with Blitz's weird antics," Amara says.
"How crazy are we talking about?" Octavia asks.
"Mainly Blitz invading my privacy. You wouldn't believe how many times I threw Blitz out for finding him staring at me while I slept," Amara says.
"Sounds like Blitz can be a handful," Octavia says.
"You can say that again. I'll bet your dad has his hands full with him," Amara says.
"Possibly. Though, I try not to get involved with my dad's little affair," Octavia says.
"It would be for the best, including how weird your dad gets over the phone," Amara says.
Octavia groans, "Trust me, I understand the feeling."
"Anyway, I have to get going, Blitz is talking with a client right now and we're going to head out soon," Amara says.
"Okay. I'll see you around," Octavia says.
"Bye," Amara says, and the two hangs up.
Octavia sighs, "I don't know how, but I think even Amara will have her claws full with having him as a boss."
Suddenly, she hears the knock on the door.
"Come in," Octavia calls out.
The doors open, and Octavia's mother, Stella walks into the room. Octavia notices the expression on her face is quiet, different than before. She seems calm, but also a bit skeptical about something.
"Hello Octavia, do you have some time to talk?" Stella asks.
Octavia sits up and says, "Uh, sure."
Stella walks into Octavia's room and closes the door. Then she walks to Octavia's bed and takes a seat close to her daughter.
"So, what is it you want to talk about?" Octavia asks.
"Well, it's about your friend. The owl girl who works for that Imp's company," Stella calmly says.
"You mean Amara?" Octavia says, confused.
"Yes. I'm rather curious about our short conversation when we first introduced ourselves. About her being raised by Imps in the Wrath Ring," Stella replies.
"Yeah. I can understand, but Amara seems to have enjoyed her life in the Wrath Ring before she decided to live in Imp City. Of course, she told me it was a little hard after her parents died and started living with her Aunt Eda, who was also an Imp from the Wrath Ring," Octavia explains.
Then asks, "Why are you curious about Amara? Of course, I'm curious about Amara myself. She's rather different from an Owl demon."
"Yes. And that caught my interest. Owl demons like us are more of the aristocrats or a Goetia Royal like your father. It's strange to hear her being raised by the lowest class of Hell," Stella calmly says.
Octavia sighs, "I don't think Amara will like it if she hears you say that, especially if Roy is around. From what she told me, she's also got a few friends who are Imps as well."
Then sadly says, "Still, from what she told me, she took what happened to her parents and what the killers have done rather hard, and done so much to gain her strength and try to move on. Though, I can tell that she still carries some scars."
"I see. Did Amara share anything else about herself?" Stella replies.
"Well. She told me her father taught her how to use guns, use ropes, daggers, and how to use her physical strength. She does have magical powers, but seems to really rely on her strength. And she actually sings and plays guitar. I saw her play the night she stayed with us. And told me that she is actually smart that she graduated early," Octavia says.
"Really now?" Stella replies, taking an interest.
Octavia then says, "I remember asking why she didn't go to a college or try to continue with her studies after graduating. She told me that she wanted to help her aunt around the farm and take care of Roy. Also, well... she also told me that she isn't sure what she wanted to do in ehr life, and feels a little lost. But I'm sure she'll know what she wants to do in her life, and I do hope she can still be happy."
Stella calmly lowers her head and says, "Maybe she will..."
Stella stands up and says, "Thank you for letting me know about Amara."
"It's no problem. I actually like Amara. She's different, but in a good way. I'm glad to have her as a friend," Octavia says.
"I'm glad too..." Stella says.
Then walks away, "Thank you, Octavia."
She then leaves through the door of Octavia's room and closes the door.
As she walks down the hall and says, "Yes. I'm glad you are able to become friends with her. Sadly, I need to be sure that you and Amara are more than just friends.... Much much more. I need to be sure if Amara is who I think she is, and if so... I need to find a way to bring her back home."
