Chapter 8: Trapped Somewhere
Jamie and Striker fell through the portal, both rolling down a sandy hill before stopping. They got up and looked around.
"Where the hell are we?" Striker asked.
She pulled out some type of GPS and looked into their location.
"It says we're still in Hell, specifically Wrath. But if you're from there, you should've known that," she pointed out.
"I've never been in this part of Wrath. And because I haven't, it usually means this is where souls don't make it out of here alive," he said.
"Well, there's a first time for everything," Jamie pointed out.
There was a small silence before she heard a gun's safety click, making her sigh in annoyance.
"That'll be true for one of us," Striker remarked, his gun pointed at her.
She turned to him and said with no amusement, "You're kidding me, right? You're really gonna kill me when our best chance is to make it out of here together and in one piece?"
"If you mean me dragging your lifeless form in one piece to who wants you dead," he answered.
(A/N Play video now please.)
"You cowboy Casanovas really are something," she snapped.
"Cowboy what?" Striker asked.
"Do I really have to spell it out for you?" Jamie remarked.
He simply shrugged before she started singing.
"You better take it from me
You, boy, are like a disease
We're runnin' and tryin' and tryin' to hide
And we're wondering why we can't get free
You're like a curse, you're like a drug
We get addicted to your love
We wanna get out, but you're holding us down
'Cause we can't live without one more touch
You're a good time cowboy Casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
You look like a cool drink of water
But you're candy-coated misery
You're the devil in disguise
A snake with yellow eyes
And you only come out at night
Gives us feelings that we don't wanna fight
We better run for our lives"
Striker slowly lowered his gun as she continued.
"I see that look on your face
You ain't hearing what I say
So I'll say it again 'cause I been where they been
And I know how it ends, we can't get away
Can't even look in your eyes
You'll tell us nothing but lies
And we wanna believe that we won't be deceived
If you listen to me and take my advice
You're a good time cowboy Casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
You look like a cool drink of water
But you're candy-coated misery
You're the devil in disguise
A snake with yellow eyes
And you only come out at night
Gives us feelings that we don't wanna fight
We better run for our lives
Run, run away, you'll try mess with our minds
You'll tell us anything we wanna hear
You'll break our hearts, it's just a matter of time
But just remember
You're a good time cowboy Casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
You look like a cool drink of water
But you're candy-coated misery
You're the devil in disguise
A snake with yellow eyes
And you only come out at night
Gives us feelings that we don't wanna fight
We better run for our lives
Oh, we better run for our lives
Oh, we better run for our lives"
Jamie panted as she looked Striker dead in the eye. But then he chuckled lightly, confusing her.
"All I got out of that was you say I'm like a drug, you'll get addicted to my love, you can't live without one more touch, you think I'm a good time as well as a cool drink of water, you know what color my eyes are, and you don't wanna fight the feelings," he smirked.
"Typical," she said, rolling her eyes.
But she couldn't help the slight smile forming on her face.
"But before that went down, I was saying it's better if we both get out of here, alive AND unharmed. So, for now," Jamie started, held her hand out to him, then requested, "Temporary truce?"
He eyed her hand for a minute before eventually shaking it.
"Fine with me, doll," Striker said.
And with that, they headed out.
They walked, mostly silently, until they had to make camp and slept through the night.
