Chapter 23- It's Never A Warcrime The First Time
Woo! 666 words for a fallen angel and a quote I personally came up with listening to those songs in ithe video of the last chapter! At this point though, the memes are just kind of random. And merry (belated) Christmas and happy holidays! Also the only chapter without song lyrics or video game references as the title. Enjoy!
The few days following Azazel's decent from grace were mostly and ironically spent decorating the house for Christmas. All the string lights, each and every ornament for the tree, and even a yard inflatable were dragged from the basement and put up for the festive holiday. No one was left out of the prep. Y/N was coordinating with his three most reliable demons to help keep the others in line. Judgement was keeping Lucifer and Beelzebub from strangling each other with the lights for the tree and house, Daisy was preventing Modeus, Pandemonica, and Justice from getting riled up decorating the tree, while Azazel was taking care of Cerberus, Zdrada, and Malina with help from Helltaker while they got groceries. What was Y/N doing? Why he was wrapping presents in the basement. Judgement was kind enough to use a pair of chains to prevent anyone from going down there should they slip away from their 'supervisors'.
"Alright, who all is done?" Daisy asked, everyone gathering in the living room save the younger human who was still wrapping presents.
"Lucifer and Beel were able to spend enough time together without trying to kill each other to finish," Judgement sighed, somewhat tired.
"Justice has been doing her best but we're still not finished with the tree. Someone keeps wanting to tie themselves up and have one of the boys go crazy on her." Azazel glared at Modeus.
"We're just putting away the last of the groceries, so Taker, Judgement, and Lucifer will have plenty for making dinner and all the Christmas food."
As they spoke, a knock on the door brought Lucifer to answer it. Opening the door, she was met with an odd sight. Not so much that it was another demon, or rather two, but that it was Krampus and Baphomet.
"I'm impressed, Lucie? Who got you out of that boring desk job? And are you decorating for Christmas?" Baphomet asked, lifting a hand to cover her mouth in amusement. Right on cue, Y/N opened the door to the basement and stepped into the living room.
"Finally finished with all the presents. How's everyone else-" he began, only to have the child Krampus shoving chocolate into his face. Baphomet laughed and watched.
"So this is the one who did the impossible? I can see it now!" The strange woman laughed. Lucifer looked concerned, watching Y/N get handled like a doll.
"Are you alright? Where's all that strength you used against that hulking brute? Even what you used against Judgement would be enough!" Lucifer sighed at the absurd sight and shook her head, going to pull the small child off of her lover. The child merely swatted her hand away
"Don't you dare try pulling me off brother! Good brothers get chocolate!" Justice laughed from the other room, doubling over as she cackled.
"Oh man, what I wouldn't give to be able to see again!" she howled with laughter. When Y/N finally snapped out of his shock, he managed to pull Krampus off enough to be able to speak.
"What is happening?!" he asked, trying not to yell with absolutely no success.
"We're visiting for the holidays! I'm sure Luci told you about us!" Baphomet said joyfully.
"No, left that bit out, actually," Y/N said through gritted teeth as he stood up. He grabbed a glass of water and sighed. God it was going to be a long few days...
Christmas morning was here and certainly nothing to sneeze at. Helltaker had a full Christmas breakfast prepared, all the presents sitting under the tree wrapped with pretty paper and bows, and everyone having a good time. Y/N smiled sadly and looked up at the ceiling as he wiped away a few tears. It was only missing one person. Sadly, even God can't bend the rules. But the knock at the door implied there were a few things that could be done.
"Gabriel. Michael. Merry Christmas to you two," Helltaker said, having answered the door. He lead the two angels inside and they smiled slightly at the sight of all the demons celebrating a holy day. The irony wasn't lost on them either, as Lucifer offered a glass of wine to Gabriel.
"We just came to wish you all and the brothers well. We can't stay for long. Speaking of, where is he?" Helltaker looked around and realized he had left the room.
"Bedroom. Careful though, he's likely cleaning a gun. Does it every holiday, but he always keeps one loaded near by should anything happen." The two nodded and made their way through the house, able to find him easily given the nature of his soul.
"Knock knock, your brother let us in." Y/N looked up and merely nodded.
"Happy holidays," he said before looking back down and resuming his cleaning. It was an old Smith and Wesson revolver.
"Grandpa gave this to Dad before he passed, and Dad passed it on to me. Gave it to me for my 22nd birthday. So I clean it all the time. Take it shooting too so I'm not just mindlessly damaging the gun." He answered their question without even looking at them.
"Well, thanks for not kicking my door down this- awe hell..." he grumbled, grabbing his now ringing phone.
"Yeah Ms. Pauling?"
