Chapter 17- Lead Me Out Into The Light

Sorry if these next few chapters come off as kinda weird, it's supposed to be super introspective about the characters and I'm trying to add depth to characters that may or may not already have the depth for this already but my knowledge of them is probably lacking.

"Tch, you honestly thought you were fit for him? That's laughable." Lucifer glared at what appeared to be her past self.

"After all, you're the reason humanity cannot love as purely as Adam and Eve were during their time in the Garden of Eden," Angel Lucifer spat venomously. The CEO of Hell simply stared down this imposter.

"Maybe so, but Y/N has done nothing to hurt me or any of the girls in his care. I don't think I'm fit for him at all. Isn't that the beauty of it? That we can fall in love with people who may not be the best for us?" Satan smirked at the reflection. believing that she'd won.

"It is, isn't it? Can you truly say you love him, though? After all, you were the one who almost had him killed. If it weren't for the angel Azazel being there, you'd have not only been on the losing side of a bet but you'd have no way of truly paying him back. Sure you would be able to easily hold up your end of the deal. Yet... he'd still be dead. Now, I don't need to tell you what that would mean. After all, you're very familiar with just how powerful some of the demons that had begun traveling with him were. And what of Y/N himself? After all, you hold a grudge against God for not putting you at her side. Wouldn't a human, in all their perfect imperfections, hold a grudge against you for effectively sending him to die?"

Lucifer dropped her smirk and sighed. She knew her betrayal of God was going to come up but not so soon.

"It's true, I do hold a grudge against Her. But... despite that, I have never felt so at ease than when I'm with him, even if Y/N's silly antics do get on my nerves on occasion. He makes me a better person if you'll believe it. Rather, he makes me want to be better..." The more Lucifer thought and spoke on it, she realized just how far she had come since her days ruling Hell as some sort of cruel mistress of evil. Back then, she was constantly stressing about having to keep others in line, even having to put down Beelzebub's rebellion and banish the Queen of the Flies to the Abyss. Yet now, he's gotten them all to relax, herself and Beel included.

"I suppose, regardless of how this goes, I should be honest with him. He's gotten nothing but lies and defensive behavior from me every time something happened that even remotely brought us together. Perhaps, telling him how I truly feel is in order," Lucifer said, more so to herself.

"I suppose so." The Angel Lucifer began fading away, a soft smile on her face.

"Love him. Give him all your heart."

Lucifer scoffed slightly, rolling her eyes. As if some past reflection needed to tell her what she was going to do. Even if what it said was exactly what Lucifer had planned on doing. Her smile faded as she left through the stained glass door that seemed to cut through the light, appearing just as angry as before.

"Now that that waste of our time is done, can we-" she began, looking around to see that everyone else had vanished, save God and Daisy.

"WHAT THE HELL?! WHY AM I SECOND TO COME OUT?!" she screamed, glaring at God again.

"If it is that important, you are indeed first. Daisy here simply wasn't tested. A need for it simply didn't exist," God answered, sounding almost smug. Which couldn't be right as God was never smug. God never expressed emotions. At least not back when Lucifer was an angel.

"Well, I suppose I should go find my King and talk with him. It would be nice to meet his father," Lucie sighed, waving for Daisy to follow.

"It pains me to say, but you have my thanks, God. Your 'gift' is more than anything I could have hoped for! Didn't know you still cared after all this time," the CEO of Hell said with a smug grin of her own. Finally, that cracked the calm, loving expression God always tried to wear.

"And you are still as spiteful as ever. Go on then. I will not hold you from him," God sighed, sounding exasperated. Lucifer just grinned, waving her hand as she and Daisy began their search for the humans. Lucifer looked back at where she and the others stood before being submitted to these trials. Her mind drifted back to what she had said. The fallen angel hadn't even thought about those words. They just... came out.

'He makes me want to be a better person.'

Those words brought his face to mind and she smiled sweetly.

"He truly is God's gift, isn't he?"
