Chapter 15- Spirit in the Sky
Apologies, I fat-fingered the publish button several times trying to simply save the draft. Then after some edits, it wouldn't save for some reason. Life is pain.
"CAST IN THE NAME OF GOD! YEE NOT GUILTY!" Y/N screamed, his sprite firing off a massive fireball at Malina's sprite.
"DAMNIT YOU ALWAYS DO THAT!" she yelled, watching her sprite fall to the ground and its soul leave its body. Y/N stood victorious, while Malina dropped to her hands and knees. Her head was lowered in defeat as she fake sobbed.
"I tried so hard... and got so far..." she 'cried'.
"Now, as for our bet. You have to go spend one hour with Helltaker!" Malina immediately perked up.
"W-What?! Come on, man!" she pleaded, hoping for literally anything else.
"Oh don't you start with me! I've seen the way you look at BJ... need I remind you of the 'incident'?" he said, raising an eyebrow.
The "Incident"
"Hey Malina, I'm going to the store, anything special you want me to... what are you playing?" Y/N asked, standing in the doorway of the Sour Demon's room.
"SHUT THE FUCKING DOOR ASSHOLE! AND KNOCK NEXT TIME!" she yelled, clearly upset and trying to hide.
"I did. Look, I don't care if you play porn games and put my brother in them so you can get off but lock the door next time. Act like a civilized demon for fucks sake..." he groaned, shaking his head as the human stepped out and shut the door behind him.
"NO!" she yelled, now bright red in the face. She stood up and grumbled, walking out of the room. Y/N heard a knock on the door and stood up.
"Just a sec!" he called, cracking his neck as he walked. He was still in his pajamas- just a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie just slightly too large. So basically indistinguishable from his usual style. As soon as he opened the door, however, he was met with a bizarre sight.
A woman in a white general's uniform stood at the door, a riding crop in hand. Behind her stood a shorter woman wearing a similar suit to Azazel. Both of them had halos of their own.
They glared slightly as Judgement walked past him in the background humming a drinking song from the fourth of July party. The taller angel scowled deeper at the sight and balled her hands into fists.
"This is going to be one of those days isn't it?" he asked. They ignored his question and took a step forward.
"Oh no, you're not coming in," Y/N barked, startling the two.
"May we come in?" the shorter of the two asked. Y/N shook his head.
"Look, I don't know what this is about but you're not welcome to stay. Leave before I have you trespassed," he said firmly, shutting the door and walking away. Not a second before he stepped out of the way, a loud boom signaled that the door had just been busted down. Judgement and Y/N both sprung up in shock and rage.
"YOU COME HERE! INTO MY HOUSE! AND YOU MAKE A MESS OF IT LIKE YOU'RE ON A MISSION FROM GOD! WELL SINCE YOU'D LIKE TO MEET HIM SO DAMN MUCH I'LL SEND YOU STRAIGHT TO HIM!" Y/N shouted, startling Judgement for a second. She'd never heard him yell before. Then again, no one broke anything or caused damage to the house.
"For the record, mortal, we are on a mission from Go-" the taller angel tried to say. She was cut off by a fist smashing into her face as she turned, Y/N spun her around and put her in an arm bar.
"Lady Gabriel!" the shorter one gasped, taking a step forward before being chained up and thrown onto the punishment couch.
"Now, answer honestly and I won't break your arm. Why are you here?" he threatened, applying pressure for emphasis.
"We were sent here on Her behalf to escort you to Heaven. We had grown suspicious of you and your brother after we had occasional reports of Lucifer, Judgement, and Justice being in the area alongside a sudden spike in demonic energy. When another one happened at this location, we were sent to investigate. The task was changed to bringing you back to Our Mother upon discovering this being your home." After a moment of silence, Y/N snapped her arm.
"Next time, don't bust my fucking door down. Or I'll do worse," he growled.
"You dare threaten the angel Gabriel? You are a bold one, for a mortal," the now-named Gabriel hissed in pain.
"Yeah, well this 'mortal' fought Judgement and won with a knockout," Lucifer spat back as she stepped into the room, the two now glaring at each other.
"I thought this place reeked of your lies. Did you promise him happiness in exchange for servitude and protection?" Gabriel asked venomously.
"No, actually," Lucifer said with a smirk, eyes brimming with amusement.
"This fool was able to enter Hell and completely circumvent my puzzles. And he's been interesting to watch ever since his fight with my High Prosecutor. I like to think he's made me a better person after all this time. After all, it has been almost a year since he brought me out from behind that dreadful desk," Lucifer said, spilling her emotions out a little more openly than expected.
"Fine. I'll go. But they get to come too."
