Chapter 7- Police Girl, If You May

Apologies! This took far too long and I had been rather consumed by the story of Cyberpunk 2077 and the gym.

Y/N stared, a look of shock frozen on his face, at Schrödinger as she sat a large TV on the table for everyone. He couldn't hear anything but an obnoxious ringing and the sound of his own heart. A hand touched his shoulder and he immediately jerked away, turning with an extra violent glare. He saw Walter trying to console him, and the look of shame in his eyes when his attempts failed. By the time his senses came back, it was like being hit by an oncoming semi. His eyes shifted from their normal E/C to a cold, violent blue.

"You... you!" he growled lunging at the cat girl, fingers just brushing against her throat as Alucard appeared and grabbed Y/N by the back of his collar and yanking the poor boy back. Even despite this, Alucard struggled a bit to hold the werewolf back as he reached and swiped at Schrödinger's throat. The look in her eyes would have told a million different words to the clearly hurt young man. Unfortunately for the recently revealed Nazi spy, he only had eyes for her throat and nothing but the desire for blood. He hadn't even heard the TV being turned on, nor the following argument before suddenly a loud bang drew everyone's attention to the now smoking barrel of Seras' P226 as she glared at the now blown to bits body of a former partner.

"Und like zat, ze war begins!" the Major cheered, only to be surprised by the first coherent sentence he'd heard out of the werewolf. His voice was distorted, deep, and gravely. He spat, still glaring at Schrödinger as spittle flew from his mouth as he yelled at his former comrade.

"YOU WANT A FUCKING WAR?! WELL NOW YOU'VE GOT A FUCKING WAR! I'LL REMIND YOU WHY YOU SHITBAGS TRIED TO MAKE SHOTGUNS WARCRIMES!" he shouted, sending Maxwell reeling even further than before. Never in his life had he seen such hate, even despite the long nights he spent looking deep into a mirror.

After the meeting was finished, Integra was walking with Walter and Y/N, the youngest of the three seething as he gnawed on his bottom lip. Neither could break through and grab his attention until there was talk of another mission. The young man was eager to be let loose on his enemies. But Integra was afraid of that, concerned it may be part of their plan to draw him back into their fold.

"Why not?! This isn't what we agreed!" Y/N growled, his voice hoarse from the yelling. He coughed and sputtered, trying to regain some sense of control of his breathing.

"Not only are we concerned about how we'll be getting aboard that ship, I'm afraid this might be a play to drag you back into the Hell you've already escaped. Besides, we must also be prepared for an assault on the estate. Given his demeanor and choice of words, I doubt the Major would let such an emotional event simmer for long before launching some sort of attack." Even despite her sound reasoning, Y/N shook with a boiling fury.

"FINE! But don't expect the mansion to be in much better shape than I am!" he spat, storming off to return 'home'. Seras wasn't too far behind, but seemed almost uncomfortable to be in the same room as him. The tensions were high, though that didn't stop Y/N from sitting next to the blond and laying his head on her shoulder during the helicopter ride back. By then, most of the anger had melted away into a dour emptiness.

"thanks..." he croaked quietly, eyes closing.

"Any time," Seras sighed, petting his hair. If not for recent events, she'd have laughed at how close he was acting. It wasn't exactly like him to be so comfortable with contact, even if it was something he clearly needed. For him to have initiated, he had to have been too exhausted to care.

Upon waking up, Y/N sat up and stretched. He looked to the few men in the chopper with them, all snickering at something. It wasn't until he wiped his oddly wet chin and turned to nudge Seras did he realize that the werewolf had drooled all over the vampire's chest. He scowled at them momentarily, silent threats filling in where words would only make things more embarrassing.

"Seras, get up. Time to prepare." As the vampire sat up, she looked down only to find the large wet patch of fabric just a bit below where he had rested his head. Her cheeks lit up bright red as she tried to dry it off, though didn't seem to have much success.

"Well this is bloody embarrassing..." she growled, still trying to dry the spot. Sadly, her vampiric strength ripped her shirt open instead. She would have yelled in frustration and embarrassment if a large shirt hadn't been thrown over her.

"Can't have you freaking out and my shirt will probably get fucked up anyway." She missed the old Y/N. He would have at least cracked a joke to ease the tension. That wasn't to say he could be upset over the current predicament, even if she would rather see him smiling again. It made her feel more relaxed and confident they would get through their missions. Now, he was acting more machine than man. It scared her how much he'd changed from the betrayal, but Seras knew she had to help him. Suddenly, she walked into his back, looking up in worry.

"Seras, you won't hurt me like that, will you? I can't..." he began, his arms shaking as he turned around, tears in his eyes.

"I can't handle losing you too!" Y/N said, surprisingly loudly. Seras couldn't help but smile.

"No... No I won't ever hurt you like that," she said and he pulled her into a hug. He sobbed into her shoulder right then and there in the hallway. Pip peered around the corner and smiled.

'Finally getting the girl it seems. I just hope I can be at their wedding,' he thought to himself, chuckling.
