||Chapter 47: One Lead||
The families were set to live in Rental Homes close to the Station and far from The Petersons.
But Luke knew how Raven Brooks work; Words get by quick.
Inside, Gerda unpacked in a room they'd be staying in a while.
Luke knocked,"Hey Kiddo. . .", Gerda looked at him, Luke looked around,"I know it's scary this happened. . . But it must be reliving to know Franklin is alive; In a coma state.", Gerda nods, she was more than relived she really was but. . . What about that lazer, and Franklin's body lifted?
Luke sat on the bed,"Listen. . . I'm not accusing you or your friends of anything. But if there's something you wanna tell me, tell me; Don't hold back.", Gerda's throat felt tight, the sting behind her eyes, she nods and Luke went to put dinner on.
Gerda looked out the window. . . Staring at the neighbourhood that once made her feel safe, but now. . . Not so much.
She knew what they did was wrong, even if Franklin didn't die; It would be attempted murder.
Gerda saw the Peterson House, it wasn't too far but far enough.
The blue house, the porch and she could see the Attic lights on.
Maybe Theodore was there. . . In their old fort. . .
Gerda knew what she had to do, but would Leonard stop her?

Adelle came into the attic with warm soup, placing it on the table.
The attic was transformed: Once a place organised of boxes and a fort, now into a comfortable bedroom: A bed, lamp, lights, clothes, medication.
Franklin found the strength to sit up, looking at his arms; looking better, one arm still had those odd purple scars that were fading like scars.
His head felt better, and to his relief he saw the Crow sleeping in a drawer in a bundle of clothes.
"Yep; Your little friend always watching and looking after you."
Franklin smiled, the bowl was warm, and the soup was delicious and easy to eat.
Adelle took a lot at a notebook; Filled with drawings of vague memories.
"How's your voice?"
Franklin lifted his hand; so-so, it hurt to talk and when he did, his voice came out rough, scratchy and at times like he was choking on something.
"Hm. . ."
It didn't seem to hurt him much when trying to Mimic his dad's voice; It startled Robert the first time, Franklin perfectly mimicking his voice.
Then Adelle had an idea.
Franklin looked at the Laptop, watching videos of him and his siblings that he could barely remember, the one in blue was more. . . Familiar.

Downstairs, Robert sat with Lisa in her room on her bed.
"I know what I'm doing is wrong. . ."
Lisa looked at him,"I know it is. . . But I just, couldn't live with myself losing Franklin and Theodore. . . If I had tried harder to protect them, to lock up that place. . . This wouldn't have happened. . .", Robert ran his hands through his hair, Lisa looked at her dad; really looked at him.
"I want him to live. . . Them to live. . . I know it's wrong. . . It goes through my head every day, that what I'm doing is wrong but. . . The louder voice, tells me he's getting better: I see he is. . .", Lisa looked at her dad, tears in his eyes; No Manipulation. . . Just her dad, his walls strong but maybe they weren't as strong.
Maybe he was right. . . I mean- Scientists experiment on animals, and that's wrong. . .
Lisa found herself justifying her dad, leaning close as he held her close.

Keith knocked on Otto's door, looking around the yard; Shooting Area, Tree Stump with chopping woods and saw signs being in the middle of being made.
The door opened, Otto; The town Hermit; He looked tired.
"Yes? Quentin sent you."
"No, no; I'm here to ask you about a case."
Otto sighed,"Look; You're not getting answers, and I have nothing to say.", Otto closed the door, Keith put his foot between the door before it could,"It's about Theodore Peterson.", Otto paused,"Look, Sir; If you know anything, anything at all; We can help you, protect you. . . If you help us.", the silence stretched, expect for the crows filling the silence.
Otto opened the door,"Make yourself at home. . . Don't touch anything.", Keith nods, grateful.
