||Chapter 33: A Nice Day||

Quiet Day at the park again.
Adelle was with the boys as they played on the jungle gym, Ike showing off and Adelle ready to catch him if needed, Norman and Ike sat in a swing.

(Dunno what this was called, but we called it; The Witch's Hat)

Kyle sighed, Cornelius smiled,"Weekend huh?", "Yep. No Gordon unless he needs something from ya.", Kyle groaned, that possibility and thankfully that doesn't happen often.

"So your dad use to play Baseball?"
"Yeah, back in school and he likes the game; How he got the hat."
Ike, Norman and Theodore did notice the playground had an area for baseball players and got curious.

"Mr Darbly?"
"Hm?"
He opened his eyes,"How do you play baseball?", "? Why?", "We're curious and there's an area for it over there.", there was, and Cornelius smiled.

~

"Basically baseball, the way I understand it; You hit the ball, you run to each diamond and you're either out if the ball is caught and or if they hit a diamond with it before they hit a home run."
Cornelius picked up a ball,"But, we'll play a more simple game.", Theodore, Ike and Norman nod, but he smiled at Kyle,"You want to show an example?", Kyle shrugged,"Sure, why not?", he grabbed a bat and stood at the diamond while Cornelius was the Pitcher.
"Ready?"
"Sure."
Kyle kept his eyes on the ball, adjusting his grip and Cornelius nods.
Cornelius gives the ball a toss, and Kyle gave it his all and whacked the ball; The kids watched it sore, and hit the net thingy that keeps it from going too far.
Cornelius nods,"You still got it.", Kyle smiled, lowering the bat and nodding, satisfied.
"COOL! I wanna try!"
Ike was jumping to try, Norman too and Theodore wasn't too sure, but he offered to throw the ball for Ike to hit.

The adults watched as Ike and Norman took turns batting, Theodore threw the ball and the first few times as soon as he threw it he ducked in fear.
Though it seems like he's grounding himself, Ike adjusting his grip and not always hitting the ball.
"It's so hard to control the hit."
"Yeah, not like a tennis racket."

Quentin had taken the opportunity of them going to the park, he used the backup key to get into the basement.
Stepping in, he began to look for another key to get into that secret door.
Shuffling around the Basement, eyeing the book shelf or room for any cameras, looking at the guy's desk he had a lot of drawings, calculations, chemicals and that odd little physics. . . Thing? The iron metal balls that you hit on one side.
Looking at the drawings, there was some. . . Machine?
"What the heck does the sun, moon or. . . A storm have to do with this?"

Oh shit.

Robert came back from the hardware store, placing the new tools on the sofa for a moment to unlock the-
. . .
He frowned, and simply walked down into the basement,"Hello?", silence, entering the basement that was empty and quiet, too quiet for his liking.
He scanned around the room.
Quentin hid under the stairs, watching him carefully as he picked up the beaker and walked around the basement.
Caw!
Caw!
Quentin flinched, Robert didn't but after a moment he left the basement.
Silence.
Quentin slowly came out, crawled out and dashed up the stairs and out the window he came in.
Unaware that Robert simply stood in the hall, out of sight; He made no attempt to grab, stop or catch him.

"That's it! I'm going over there tomorrow!"

"Tom."

"That family has been through enough, perhaps after what happened Robert ain't sharp as his focus has been on his kids and his son."
