Rings of Power version
Here will be spoilers for the Rings of Power season one.
Anyway, I was rewaching Rings of Power, got sad, because there was no Annatar and started thinking about how it would have worked differently. This are my ideas.
I would put Elrond and Celebrimbor in the focus of events (the blackhaired, quite caotic Celebrimbor and the Elrond who identifies himself as part of the house of Feanor as well as as Earendil's son). Also, Eregion would be the main place of events instead of Lindon. Still I would keep some of the aspects Amazon added.
It would be an interesting aspect to keep the plotline with Nori and the guy of whom I think he is Gandalf, because surely Amazon has a plan for them to contribute to the mainplot.
Also, I think I would have kept Adar, but would have made him some kind of lieutnant of Sauron, who torments the southlands, so that after defending their people Bronwyn's and Arondir's quest would have been to try and reach Lindon (or Eregion, which isn't that far) to ask for high king Gil-Galad's help against the orcs.
In Lindon (before Arondir and Bronwyn reach it) Gil-Galad would discover, that elves were fading and would send Elrond to Eregion, to find something that could stop it. There, Elrond, from his point of view quickly after loosing his brother, would meet Celebrimbor, the only living relative he has, a craftsmen who has despised the same family Elrond kind of has chosen. The growing relationship between them would be an interesting plotline.
Also, there would be a simmilar plotline Rings of Power has with Elrond and Durin, only with Celebrimbor and Narvi (he couldn't be a dwarfprince then, but maybe some kind of lord). This would mainly happen after Bronwyn and Arondir would have reached Eregion. They would ask either Galadriel or Gil-Galad for aid and one of them decides for some reasons, that the Numenoreans should help them. And who would be the perfect person to go to Numenor? Not Galadriel, but maybe the twinbother of the first Numenor-king? So Elrond sails to Numenor, persuades them to help the southlands, is confronted with the decline of his brother's people and has some emotional struggle beside the political one.
At the same time Celebrimbor and Narvi start digging for Mithril, slowly strengthening the relationships between the dwarfs of Moria and the elves of Eregion, forming the Gwaith-i-mirdain.
The end happens nearly as it does. Adar and the orcs invade the southlands and create Mordor; the Numenoreans come to save them; Miriel gets blindfolded; Nori and Gandalf go to Rhun. Only that Narvi and Celebrimbor create the door of Khazad dum in the end and maybe Narvi dies (so that Celebrimbor can experience loss). Also, Gil-Galad is kind of finished with the orcs that have threatened Lindon (they are all in Mordor now), so that Galadriel decides, that now she isn't really needed in Lindon and wants to spend some time in Eregion (whyever). In the last scene a guy with golden hair suddenly stands at the doors of Eregion and wants to see Celebrimbor. He calls himself "Lord of the gifts".
The second season would deal with Annatar in Eregion. Of course, everyone knows, who Annatar is, so the aspect that makes it exciting would be, that he slowly starts to doubt his own goals and methods and maybe gets a bit attracted to Celebrimbor. At the same time Celebrimbor would be rejected by Galadriel and maybe start to fall for Annatar a tinny little bit. Of course, Elrond would be extremely worried about Celebrimbor and maybe argue about Annatar with him. Also, Bronwyn and Arondir would try to find a new home for their people, Gandalf and Nori would reach Rhun, etc. And the rings are made.
Who I'd certainly leave out is Halbrand. Seriously. I have developed such a strong resentement against his character since.... arrrghhh!
Well, what would you prefer? Do you like Rings of Power as it is?
