Episode fourrrrr!
Off screen voice: You promised them a oneshot!
Yes. I know. And I'm terribly sorry. But you have no idea, how annoying it is to type a paper-script...
So, my reaction to episode four of "Rings of Power". The statemets become more important, the later they come, so the first few aren't that amazing.
Elendil's daughter and Pharazon's son?! WTF! That's going to be so, so, so, so much drama! I'm looking forward to it! I wonder, who of them will change their mind. Will he betray his father, or will she become evil?
Talking about Numenor: I think, Miriel has a good point and is very strong in her own way. Especially because she isn't too proud to change her mind.
Funny: Miriel litterally saying something like: "How could Galadriel, daughter of Finarfin, have the right to talk to the king of Numenor?" Maybe allready because of what you just said. DAUGHTER OF FINARFIN? If she isn't allowed to talk to the king, then who the hell is?
Oh, something entirely different: I so much wish for a confrontation of Celebrimbor and Galadriel! I really, really, really want to hear him declaring his everlasting love to his half-aunt of second degree (I think...)
Additionally, I'm convinced, that Celebrimbor, when talking about how he and Elrond's father had a conversation, totally didn't mean Earendil. I can't think of a situation, where Celebrimbor and Earendil could have met. I mean, it's possible, of course. But isn't it much more likely for Celebrimbor tp visit his uncle, lets say... shortly before the end of the first age?
Eru Illuvatar, Elrond and Celebrimbor broke my heart with this! They really did! Elrond just said, he would be affraid not to be as good as his father (what allready is a very high standard. We are talking about EARENDIL, as a matter of fact). And he ment Earendil! Why? That guy was a damned mariner! It is said, he tried sailing to valinor very often. Just when could he have had the time to raise his children properly? I don't really think they even saw him alot! Maglor on the other hand... Why can't he refer to Maglor as his father? He doesn't even have to mean Maedhros as well. I mean, it would be awesome, but it isn't exactly described like this in the Silmarillion. Just one of my favourite characters would be enough!
I could undertand, if Elrond doesn't think of the man as a father, who slaughtered his tribe, forced his mother to cast herself into the sea, kidnapped him and his twin-brother, made his parentes belief they were dead so they would abandon their children, raised them as his own sons, but also left them for a useless fight in the end,.. I suppose, you get what I mean? But still: You can't tell me that Maglor, when he is unaffacted by the oath, isn't a great, caring, responsible father for two elflings! Noone will ever convince me, that Maglor, Maedhros, Elrond and Elros weren't an unconventional but entirely happy family for a little while. I'm stubborn, when it comes to four of my favourite characters.
Favourite characters. Good keyword...
SAURON!!!!! Seriously, I was excited to see him for the whole week! And HE IS EXACTLY AS I IMAGINED HIM! JUST THE WAY HE IS DEPICTED IN TONS OF FFS; FANARTS; POSTS; ETC.! THE PEOPLE WHO WROTE THE SCRIPT REALLY DID THEIR RESEARCH. Not the way he looks, by the way. I had imagined him to have scars, but he seems so old. He has every right to, but he is a Maiar (or now a demon) after all... And he has RED HAIR! Red hair, mellyn! I had imagined his hair to become white, after Melkor's "death", but only the fact that he looks exactly like Sauron looked at some point is amazing!
But what am I talking about? That's so 100% irrelevant. The really amazing thing is his character. DID YOU SEE HIM KILLING/COMFORTING THAT ORC?! HE EVEN SMILLED TO THEM IN THE MOMENT OF THEIR DEATH! HE SMILED! And there was so much sadness in his eyes. Truly like a caring leader releasing his dear soldier from their pain. And what he said about the elves who had believed some kind of lie. I wonder if this is only his point of view, or wether there will be a great plottwist about Sauron being not as evil as anyone believed him to be. Whatever it is, it'll be awesome. I mean, we are talking about Sauron here. What did you expect? Of course it will be awesome.
Plus that the Numenoreans will make war upon him now! I want to see Sauron in Numenor and I desperately want to see him building a temple for Melkor. A scene, where he misses his "dead" master would be awesome too. It definitely would!
As a matter of fact, I tried to explain everything I just told you to my parentes. I don't think, they really got it, what is nothing I can blame them for. Anyway, especially the thing about Elrond's parentes might be a little comlicated... Anyway, noone understands me, so I have to post everything here. How crule destiny is to Silmarillion-fans. Forever allone. Only connected through online websites...
I should stop complaining. I'm probably the only person, who doesn't have anyone to talk to about Silmarillion-stuff...
However, you'll read from me
Alice 🙃
