"What in the hell possessed you to do this? I mean, I try to get some sleep the next thing I know I'm running for my life," I asked Ivo as he floated beside me.
"Well, I dislike cramped spaces and people telling me what to do. You do too, so I don't know why you're bitching Charlotte," he told me in a matter of fact tone.
"I already knew that after all you hardly listen to anything I say. Plus I was trying to sleep! You causing this mess doesn't change the fact that I'm still exhausted," I grumbled under my breath.
"Hold on...I just found something that I believe will make our escape from this place a lot easier," Ivo told me as he floated over to a nearby jail cell.
Hopefully, whatever he has planned doesn't involve me getting my hands dirty again.
"Well hello there little wyvern, would you like to leave this place?" Ivo asked slowly.
I heard a mixture of grunts and hissing coming from behind the door. And Ivo smiled slightly.
"Good, we're leaving this place and if you want to do so then break your prison and free your supernatural brethren," Ivo suggested. Then he floated forward phasing through the door the runes on its front utterly useless against him.
I heard a strange loud bang before Ivo returned to my side, a smirk on his face.
I jumped. The fur on my tail stood up as loud violent thuds came from behind the door, causing enormous dents in it. Seconds later though it flew across the hallway.
A medium sized blue scaled wevryn stomped out with a metal collar on its neck. It let out a gigantic roar, then it stomped down the other end of the hallway ripping holes in the door as it went. It didn't get far before it's body locked up as the collar on its neck sparked, seconds later it fell to the floor whimpering.
However, since it had ripped off a number of doors subduing the wevryn didn't do anything to stop the chaos. After a matter of moments, a team of guards entered the hallway it only took mere moments before the hallway was full of fighting humans and supernatural creatures. Blood and viscera splashing in every direction as it literally painted the walls red. As the inmates fought for their lives, some were tearing at the walls risking their fingers and limbs to remove the runes.
A hefty chunk of flesh landed at my feet, I scowled for a moment before turning to Ivo. "Did-did you just incite a prison riot?" I asked slowly.
He chuckled. "It's a good distraction so that we can leave, and who said that chaos isn't fun?"
I let out a sigh before I continued running for the exit.
At least he's still the same.
As we ran I noticed the human guards trying their best to fight the onslaught of supernatural creatures with everything from guns to swords and spears. Hell, a few guards even tried to go after me before they were murdered by a nearby paranormal creature that they turned their back on. So instead of heading for the front door and getting attacked by more humans, I headed for the rooftop hoping that air reinforcements would arrive late.
So many people are going to die today, hopefully, I won't have to lift a finger in that regard.
I stopped in my tracks as a large, human man blocked my way to the final level of the roof. A very intimidating looking gun in his hands. There was blood splashed and splattered all over his protective riot gear.
It's more than likely not his own.
"Prisoner F-8231, place your hands in the air immediately!" He shouted. Soon three more guards joined him in blocking my path to the outside.
They probably have silver bullets in there.
I don't know why but I let out chuckle and Ivo looked over at me. "Do you think you can handle this by yourself?" He asked with his arms crossed.
"Of course I can, they're just humans," I told him.
Ivo nodded but stayed by my side instead of disappearing like usual.
"Prisoner F-8231! On your knees!" One of the other guards shouted.
I grinned at them and stretched bringing my arms over my head only to cross them in front of my chest.
I took a deep breath feeling a familiar warmth gathered in my chest as though I had drunk a pot of hot coffee. I forced my mouth closed, clamping my teeth together as the heat began to rise and lick at the back of my throat. As I focused I felt a small sting and a thunderous sound as one of the guards fired his weapon only grazing me. I struggled not to smirk as I heard the guards draw closer, surrounding me.
I opened my eyes then I spun like a twirling ballerina, my mouth opened the spinning creating a small yet fierce swirl of fire. Very quickly the humans were consumed in the flames as their bodies instantly went up as though they were covered in gasoline, they began wildly failing, their guns discharging as they panicked.
I walked past their horrified screaming, and quickly charring bodies on the floor and continued on my path to the roof.
The only thing that made me stop for a second was a heavy duty door. Ivo chuckled as he reappeared next to me. "I'll do it," He told me as he released another beam of his energy blasting the door off with ease. Once we reached the roof of the towering prison I stopped, taking in the outside world for the first time in a couple of months.
Ivo smiled next to me. "Despite your aversion to my plan of getting thrown in prison to get information on Kessel you didn't seem too angry about it. In fact, you adapted quickly." He said as though he were trying to prove a point.
I let out a huff as I stretched. "I'm just fulfilling my end of our deal, remember? Besides, I figured if I was more compliant with the guards we'd be able to move around with fewer restrictions. I didn't know that I was a high-security risk and would be locked up the whole time," I mumbled.
"Maybe because before the hunters captured you, you set several of their men on fire," he pointed out in that usual egotistical tone of his.
I rolled my eyes as I turned away from him. "Fucking hell, why is the sun so bright?" I hissed took a step forward.
Ivo narrowed his eyes at me before turning his attention to the edge of the tower. "You may be durable, but I doubt you can make this jump without hurting yourself," he told me as he scowled while looking off the edge.
He looked at me with a smirk on his face. "Let me take control, Charlotte."
I glared at him as I walked towards the edge. "Absolutely not, besides you already had your fun when I went to sleep. I'll take my chances," I told him.
"Take your chances? Look at your wings they aren't fully formed, there's no way you can fly down there," He pointed out.
I ignored him as I scanned the ground, it was covered in piles, upon piles of snow and despite the fact that it was sunny it seemed as though it wouldn't be melting for a while. The snow was untouched as though it had just finished falling.
I took a deep breath, then I leaped off of the tower. There was the tingling sensation of my stomach plunging into my feet and the freezing air whipping at my skin. To be honest, I was afraid because I didn't actually know if the snow would cushion my fall. Even if it didn't I knew Ivo would intervene before I ended up dying. I landed in one of the piles of snow my dragon scales coming up a second too late, pain suddenly shot through my left arm. I gritted my teeth holding back a loud roar of pain. Ivo looked down at me and he let out a sigh.
"You do realize that you being immature as hell is what caused this to happen right? All you had to do was say yes," he sighed.
I glared at him as I slowly got to my feet. "You know what? Fuck you! I fucking hate you! " I snapped as I examined my arm.
There was a large welt looking bruise spanning from my shoulder down to my elbow. Ivo stopped floating and walked around me, as though he was examining me.
"Like I said, immature. You didn't hurt anything else did you?" He asked as he gave me another once over.
I let out a sigh as my anger seemed to fizzle away. "No...I'm fine. This should heal soon," I whispered.
Ivo nodded. "Good, I can't have my vessel damaged or broken."
I frowned as I started trudging through the snow. "I know. I know," I whispered.
I summoned him, so I have to deal with him. However, he still hasn't told me exactly why he wants revenge on this Kessel guy in the Aveon Foundation. At first, I thought he wanted someone as a vessel, but that was just part of the summoning contract. And he always dodges my questions about it...
I glanced over at him to see Ivo walking right beside me. He reached out and grabbed my hand. "You've always had trouble staying warm. So just stay close, " He told me.
I looked away from him. "Okay...." I whispered as I continued to trudge forward.
