-Charlotte-
As I ran through the streets of the town I couldn't help but glance back at my purser.
Why does he look exactly like Ivo? He isn't a shapeshifter because those are silver medals on his outfit.
I turned a corner that ended with a brick wall. For a moment I just stood there as I heard the man's footsteps behind me.
I bit my lip as I embedded my claws into the wall and began to climb up to the top of it.
"Charlotte, please don't do this. I just want to talk," the man told me in a gentle voice.
For a moment I froze then I shook my head and continued climbing.
He's not Ivo!
When I reached the top of the wall I pulled myself up and onto a roof. For a few moments, I just lay there. Once I caught my breath I looked over the roof down at the man.
He just stood there staring blankly at me. "Charlotte, my name is Caius. I'm not going to hurt you. Just come down before you hurt yourself. I know that your wings are clipped," he told me calmly.
I shuddered then shot a burst of fire at him only missing by an inch.
"So you don't want to see Kessel again?" He asked slowly.
I froze my eyes going wide.
Kessel...did he personally send him? For me, but not for Ivo?
I took a deep breath. "Stay the fuck away from me you imposter!" I shouted.
Caius sighed as he held up something. "Lord Kessel said that I couldn't hurt you but he didn't say anything about tranquilizers," he said sounding a bit disappointed.
I dropped down on my stomach instantly. "That was a fucking dart gun," I whispered.
Wait...will that even work on me? All those years of sedatives should've helped me build up a tolerance. Either way, I need to get out of here and find Ivo!
As I reluctantly sat up I was suddenly face to face with Caius.
He smirked briefly looking incredibly pleased with himself.
I started to scurry away but he grabbed me by my tail, I shrieked at the sudden pain and lashed out with my claws. I automatically aimed for his eyes and throat.
I heard him let out a hiss and release me as my claws raked across his face. As I ran toward the other end of the roof I felt a sharp and slight pain in my back.
I stumbled nearly falling off the roof but caught myself on the ledge. When I leaped to the next building I looked back to see Caius just standing there in the same spot.
His eyes were closed as though he was concentrating. But he wasn't following me.
I reached backward and yanked the dart free of my skin.
Ivo, where are you!
As if to answer my question I saw a man fly upwards through the air screaming and flailing his arms.
As I got further and further away from Caius my only thought was,
He's not following me?
I continued to run and leap across the rooftops. I eventually leaped down when I saw Ivo.
As I clung to his side he seemed surprised.
"Charlotte, what are you doing here?" He practically snapped at me.
"A doppelgänger! I saw this man that he looked exactly like you! He chased after me on Kessel's behalf! I-I..."
I froze as I realized that three men stood in front of Ivo.
Ivo chuckled as he smirked at the men.
They're definitely werecreatures, they smell like feral animals.
My face twisted in disgust at the smell of roadkill and wet grass.
"Are we really doing this you idiots," Ivo asked as he crossed his arms.
"You're Aveon's most wanted we know about you!" One of the men snapped at Ivo.
Ivo let out a snicker. "You turn into powerful monsters beneath the moon yet you fall back cowering in front of a false prophet! Don't worry however you are going to see a true monster in just a second."
Don't they realize that they're as strong as a human at the moment? The moon isn't out are they just idiots?
Ivo shrugged before glancing at me. "They think they're glorious Lord Kessel can actually help them," he said answering my question.
Ivo lifted up one of his hands almost instantly it was encased in his demonic energy. "If you want to become a Therion's dinner I won't stop you."
One of the men rushed forward, a knife in hand.
I built up my fire and spurted it out in a direct shot at the running man. He decided it was a good idea to run to run right through it.
Ivo guarded using his arm that was encased in demonic energy. Afterwards, he reached out and grabbed the attacking man by his throat.
Ivo drained the man of his life force, I watched as the man turned into an emaciated mummy, his skin wrinkled and turned brown as his body shriveled up. His hair and teeth fell out collecting in a small pile on the ground. It all happened in the span of twenty seconds.
Ivo tossed the flaming corpse to the side with a small smirk on his face and when it landed I heard a small snapping sound."Do you helpless bitches comprehend what a Therion is?" Ivo snapped.
One of the men bit his lip before speaking. "You act like any of us have a choice when it comes to the Aveon. It's either fall in line or die. We don't want our families to suffer for our actions!"
Ivo sighed and rolled his eyes. "Well, at least you thought before attacking, unlike your mummified friend. You could always just stand down instead of attacking. I'm just protecting this tea-cup dragon right here," he told them.
Both of the men looked at me before briefly nodding. "If you're just protecting a little girl then why are you destroying everything and killing everyone. Every Aveon member talks about it! It's all they're interested in." The same man said.
"Well, I have a score to settle with the Aveon leader. He's going to be dead soon then you won't have to worry about your families anymore. However, if you insist on trying to kill me then maybe I should send your bodies back to your families as mummies. Just like your friend," Ivo told them calmly.
Both of the men frowned seemingly conflicted then they turned and walked away. Ivo sighed seemingly out of relief before he turned to me.
"Charlotte, please explain to me what the fuck you're doing out?" He asked slowly.
My eyes went wide and I flinched. "I came out to get a drink because I was worried about you. But on my way to the bar, I saw this guy, and he looked exactly like you! And he chased me around the city on Kessel's behalf!" I explained frantically.
Ivo let out a small growl under his breath. "Yeah, I saw the bastard too. He's something but he isn't a Therion, that's for sure."
Ivo carefully looked me over. "He didn't hurt you did he?"
"He grabbed my tail and tried to tranquilize me with a dart but it didn't do anything," I said as looked back at my tail.
The fur is a little frayed but it still looks okay.
"When we get back to the hotel I want Delilah to look you over before we leave. You getting sick again is the last thing we need," Ivo patted my head as he spoke.
I nodded but stopped as my vision spun for a minute, everything went white briefly and when I opened my Ivo had his arm around my waist. "So...maybe I haven't built up the immunity I thought I had to sedatives," I said sheepishly.
Ivo reached out and grabbed my hand. "Yeah, I'm definitely having Delilah look at you."
I yawned as we started walking, eventually, the sluggishness set in and I had to walk very carefully to avoid tripping over my own tail or feet.
"Charlotte we're back."
I frowned as I squeezed my eyes shut when I tried to open them though they wouldn't open.
~~~
I looked around briefly as I opened my eyes I was in a pitch black room. The only thing I could see were two white glowing orbs looking down at me.
"Are you scared, little thing, are you afraid of me?" The white-eyed creature asked me.
The voice was familiar, way too familiar. I tried to sit up, I tried to run away but I couldn't even move it was like my body was nailed to the floor.
I felt a hand run across my face and the creature spoke again, "It's okay. I like that about you. I like it when you're scared."
It's hand brushed my throat staying there as my breathing sped up.
"Please stop, let me go," I cried out.
The creature leaned over me with raised hands, one came down over my mouth while the other began to creep up my shirt. I yanked my arms again thrashing on the floor feebly.
"More. No, no noise little thing. I want you, I'm not done, I want more. Not yet little thing." As the creature spoke I could feel more hands touching me.
I squirmed whimpering beneath the dozens of hands that trailed over me like slime.
The hand was removed from my mouth as a cold finger slipped into my mouth. "It's okay to be scared. Although it's always nice to see you Charlotte."
~~~~
I jerked awake and instantly scrambled back feeling sick. I tried to catch my breath as I scrambled back slightly further but, I ended up falling off the bed.
I landed on my stomach and started coughing as the bile that had been rising in my throat decided to enter my lung. Suddenly I felt a pair of hands on me trying to pull me up, and instantly I lashed out with my claws.
"Fuck!"
I froze when I saw that it was Atlas that I'd scratched, I managed to nick him under his eye and along with his right cheek.
Atlas sighed. "Are you okay Charlotte?" He asked slowly.
"W-where am I? Are we still in town?" I asked as I let out a shuddering breath.
"Yeah, we're still in town. Ivo went searching for the guy that attacked you. Delilah's asleep in her and Ivo's room she went back after looking you over," he explained.
I shuddered as I wrapped my arms around myself and stared down at the ground with wide eyes. Atlas held out a hand to help me up but I flinched away from him and just continued to stare at the ground.
After a moment he sat down next me however he didn't try to comfort me again. "I'm here if you need me. I understand if you don't wanna talk about it," he told me gently.
I shook my head as I let out a shuddering breath. "It was nothing just a bad drug induced nightmare," I mumbled softly.
I wrapped my tail around my ankles and for a few minutes, Atlas and I sat like that, completely quiet with him just sitting next to me.
Strangely it seemed like it was working, and at that fact, I couldn't help but give a small sad smile.
