Subtle
I awoke for the second time that morning. This time, it wasn't because of sunlight. It was because I heard the rustling of the bed. I opened my eyes to see Alex getting up.
"Uh, hello," I said. He jumped a little, causing me to giggle. He turned to me and smiled. "You could have taken me back to my apartment, you know."
"I didn't want to leave you alone," he said. "You were pretty messed up last night and I was worried."
I sighed. Of course I was 'messed up'! I just found out my dad was in a coma!
"Lies," I joked. "You just wanted to sleep next to me."
"Don't flatter yourself," he laughed. There was something in his expression that told me I was right, even if Alex didn't admit it. "I have a question."
"Shoot," I said, sitting up. I attempted to smooth down my strawberry blonde hair as I looked over at Alex.
"What exactly was last night?"
I stared blankly at him.
"Good question," I mumbled. It was one I didn't really know the answer to. Alex furrowed his eyebrows and sat next to me on the bed.
"I mean... was it you expressing your feelings or would you have done the same if Ross or Trott answered the door?" he asked. He had a blank expression but I knew he wanted me to say no. I thought carefully before speaking.
"Alex," I said kindly. "If it wasn't you who answered the door, I would've sought comfort from whoever did."
"i see," he sighed as he lowered his head.
"Let me finish," I scolded. "While I would have sought comfort, I would not have kissed them. That was all you, dude."
He looked up at me and smiled a very happy smile. Alex rushed forward and pulled me into a hug. I giggled and hugged him back.
"You have no idea how relieved I am at that," he said, still hugging me. "You know I really like you, Lena."
"Yeah, I do. And Alex?"
He pulled away and looked at me.
"I like you a lot too," I said awkwardly. He smiled again. I giggled and kissed his cheek.
"So then," I began. "Does that mean we're, like, a thing now?"
"I, like, guess we, like, are," he smiled.
"Don't make fun of me," I laughed, slapping his arm playfully. He chuckled and gave me a quick kiss.
"Oh!" I said suddenly. He looked at me, confused. "Could we keep this, I dunno, a secret?"
"Why?"
"I don't want the guys or Eva to know yet. Geez, especially not Eva. She'd freak."
"Yeah, she would. Okay, if that's what you want, we'll do that. Be all subtle and whatnot."
I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder. We sat like that for awhile before he suddenly spoke up.
"I got to go to work, Lena."
"Why?" I groaned. "We just, like, professed our love for each other or whatever."
"I gotta make dem videos, yo," Alex answered. I chuckled. I took my head off his shoulder.
"Okay, go and make them moneys," I said. "I'll be in here until you guys leave."
He nodded and got off the bed.
"See you when we get home," he said as he kissed my forehead. I waved at his back as he walked out of his bedroom.

After the guys finally left, I walked shoeless back over to my apartment. I went into the living room to find my phone. I found on the floor where I left it after the... news. I saw several texts from my mom, one from Eva, and one from Lucy.
Lucy: Sis, please call me.
That is really odd. I've been in England for almost a month and this is the first contact I get from my sister. I shook it off and called her despite the fact that it's 4 AM over there.
"Hello?" Lucy asked. She sounded like she hadn't been sleeping.
"Hey, Luce," I greeted. "You wanted to talk to me?"
"Oh my God, I'm so glad you called," she sighed.
"Luce, what's wrong?"
"Daniel kicked me out... again."
I sighed. Daniel is Lucy's on and off fiance. He treats her like crap and they breakup constantly. They've been together for five years.
"Really Lucy?" I huff.
"Yeah," she scoffed. "And things were the best they've been!"
"Honestly, Lucy, I am not surprised. This is the millionth time y'all have broken up."
"Well, this time its for real. I'm getting on a plane to Bristol ASAP," she said.
"Luce, you said that last time," I sighed.
"This time is different. I swear. Where's dad? He'll wanna talk to me."
I went silent as tears began to form in my eyes.
"You... You don't know?" I asked.
"Know what?" She asked. "Lulu, you're scaring me."
"Dad's in a coma, Lucy," I cry.
"Wha-"
"He was been since last night."
"Why didn't anyone tell me?!" She yelled.
"Lucy, I'm sorry! I thought-"
"Thought what, Lena? That I wouldn't care?" She asked angrily.
"Lucy, you need to calm down!" I yelled. "You know it isn't like that! He's my dad too and I thought mom called you."
"You're right, Lena," she sighed and I could tell she was still in tears. "I just... don't know how to react."
"It's okay. Just get here as soon as you can."
"Alright, will do. Love you, Lulu."
"Love you," I said as I hung up.
As soon as I hung up, I called my mom.
"Lena?" she answered.
"Hey, mom," I said.
"Honey, I can't talk right now, the doctor's talking to me. He says Dad has a very good chance of waking within the next few days. I gotta go. Love you," she said briefly.
She hung up. I smiled at what she said. Dad could wake up soon! I have to call Alex!
I start to dial his number when I remember he won't answer. Well, I guess I can text Eva. And so I did.I asked her if she wanted to come by soon. She said she would be here soon.
/////
"Okay," I began as Eva and I settled onto the couch. "There's something I haven't told you."
"You and Smith are dating," Eva guessed. I gave her a shocked expression.
"No," I lied.
"Worth a shot," she shrugged.
"Anyways," I continued. "So yesterday, my parents went off to visit a friend of theirs in Northampton. Later that night, I got a call from my mom. She told me that my dad hit his head and he was in a coma."
"Oh my God, Lena," Eva whispered. "I'm so sorry."
"Don't be. It's not like you did it."
"Is he... okay?"
"Well, not too long ago, I called my mom. She told me the doctor said he has a good chance of waking up in a few days."
"That's great!"
We talked about it for a while. And luckily, I didn't break down into tears. I think Alex's words really got to me. My dad will be just fine, I'm sure of it.
Somehow, the topic switched from my family to the guys.
"Just so you know," Eva said. "I totally ship Alena."
"Alena?" I asked, giggling.
"Yeah, Alex and Lena equals Alena. It's gonna happen," she winked.
"As if," I scoffed. It's kinda funny pretending it hasn't already happened. "If you ship Alena, then it's only fair that I ship Roseva."
"Roseva? Really?" She asked with a flat look. I laughed and nodded.
"Girl, I saw the looks you gave Ross."
Eva's face grew red and she looked down.
"Well, I might have a little crush on him," Eva mumbled.
"That's what I thought," I chuckled.
/////
Not too long after that conversation, Eva went home. Almost as soon as she left, I got a text from Alex saying that he'd be home soon. I can't wait to see him...
"Lena!" Alex called as he stepped into my apartment. He walked into the living room where I was sat on the couch playing Animal Crossing.
"You know it's rude to just barge into someone's house like that," I joked. He smirked and walked closer to me.
"My bad, milady," he said sarcastically. "Please forgive me."
"I suppose I can forgive you," I said, setting my 3DS down and standing up. "But only cause your beard is looking particularly fabulous today."
He chuckled and gave me a kiss.
"So then," I sighed as I plopped back onto the couch. I picked up my game to save and quit. "What brings you here?"
"Can I not visit my lovely Lena?" he asked as he sat next to me.
"Lovely, eh?" I asked. I felt my face heat up.
"Loving how you commented on that and not the fact that I said 'my'," he said.
"Well, we're dating so that's to be expected. It's just the fact that I'm currently wearing sweatpants and a ginormous T-shirt," I giggled.
"Still beautiful," he smiled.
"Oh knock it off," I said sarcastically.
"Okay, sure. I lied. You look horrid," he smirked.
"Rude!" I gasped. He chuckled and pulled me into a side hug sort of thing.
"Only joking, Lena. My original statement stands," he said. "So, what've you been up to all day?"
"Well, I talked to a lot of people, invited Eva over, played Animal Crossing, and watched Netflix," I listed. "Please don't judge."
"I'm not really in a place to seeing as I just spent several hours sat at a desk playing video games," he laughed and so did I. "Who'd you talk to?"
"My mom and Lucy," I replied. "My mom gave me some really good news, actually."
"What did your mum say?"
"The doctors suspect Dad will wake up soon. Next few days, they think," I answered happily.
"That's amazing, Lena," Alex smiled.
"I know!" I grinned.
"You have a cute smile," Alex complimented.
"Oh you and your complime- OH!" I gasped, suddenly remembering Lucy. "Guess what?"
"What?"
"My sister Lucy is moving in!" I said. He looked confused. "She finally left her piece of crap fiance and is coming here!"
"That's cool," Alex said as he pulled his phone from his pocket. "I can't wait to meet her."
Alex stood up and looked at me.
"That was Trott," he said. "They're wondering what's taking me so long. I gotta go."
"Okay," I said, also standing. He gave me a quick kiss and a smile before walking out the door.

I walked out of my bathroom, yawning. I crawled into my bed and started to think about the day I had. It was most definitely the best one I've had in awhile.
I can't wait until Lucy gets here. And Dad wakes up. And I guess I'm pretty excited about seeing Alex tomorrow. Okay, you caught me. I'm really excited.
