A Great Loss

Warning: strong language. It's censored but I'm gonna put a warning up anyways

.....

"Ah! The murderer is-" I was cut off by whoever was playing November Kilo killing me. Yeah, I'm playing G mod murder with the guys. I wanted to meet Sips and Ross suggested I play murder with them when they aren't recording. We were on our tenth game.

"Oh, did you like that pile of sh*t?" Ross asked in his Northern accent. I laughed quietly.

"It's Ross," Sips laughed. "Lena, are you dead?"

I didn't say anything. I just leaned back in my chair and stuffed my hands into the hoodie I 'borrowed' from Alex.

"Uh, she's dead," Turps confirmed.

"Aw great! The round just started and one of us is- oh," Sips said as he was killed. Alex, Turps, and Trott laughed.

"Sips?" Alex questioned. "Sips, are you dead?"

"Oh yes he is," Ross said creepily. I switched my camera to his point of view just as he killed someone else.

"Oh no!" Turps yelled out. "I had the gun and everything!"

"It was a sneaky sh*t you just ate," Ross said. Everyone laughed.  "I'm quite proud of that kill."

"Are you Ross?" Alex asked. I switched my camera to Alex's point of view to see him quietly stalking Ross' character. He had a gun.

"Yes actually I- oh I'm dead," Ross said as Alex shot him.

"Yay!" I celebrated. "Bystanders for the win!"

"Trott was hiding in the closet the whole time!" Sips laughed.

"I was scared," Trott defended. I chuckled.

"Well, that was fun," I smiled. "But I'm going to let you guys get back to recording and stuff. Excuse me while I go and snuggle into this incredibly comfy hoodie I stole from Alex."

"You what?" Alex asked, laughing.

"Well, I didn't technically steal it," I defended. "You left it here yesterday. And I'm gonna go now. Bye guys. I love y'all and I'll see you later!"

I logged off the game and ended the chat. I walked downstairs and into the kitchen.

"Oh hey," Lucy said as she walked into the kitchen. "Have fun playing murder?"

"Oh yes," I answered, grabbing a water bottle from the fridge. "It was quite the experience."

"I bet," she laughed. "Could you get me a water?"

  I did as she asked.

"Thanks," she smiled. "I'm going to go for a walk. Call me if you need me."

"Okay, don't get kidnapped."

"I'll try my best," she laughed. She walked into the living room and I trailed behind her.

"Bye," she said as she went out the front door. Well, I'm home alone now.

"This sucks," I sighed. "I'm already bored."

Just as I said that, my phone rang. I pulled my phone from one of the hoodie pockets and answered it.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey, it's Kaeyi!" Kaeyi said from the phone.

"Oh hi!" I greeted. "What's up?"

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go out to eat or something."

"That would be awesome!" I said.

"Yay!" she cheered. "There's a nice place near my flat if you wanna go there."

"Sounds cool. I'll catch a ride from my friend Eva and meet you at your place."

"Okay! I'll see you soon," Kaeyi said as she hung up. I dialed Eva's number.

"What's up Lena-Butt?" she answered.

"Oh wow," I laughed. "Best nickname ever."

"Thanks," she chuckled. "Need something?"

"Yeah. Could you take me to Kaeyi's apartment?"

"I'm not your personal taxi," she said. "Can't you just take the bus or something?"

"Public transportation is nasty," I groaned.

"Okay then get a UK driver's licence."

"I'll get one when I can but for now, please take me to Kaeyi's place," I begged.

"Okay, fine," she sighed. "I'll be 'round in about five minutes."

"Yay! Thanks, E," I thanked before hanging up. I went upstairs to change clothes. As comfy as this hoodie is, it isn't really lady like.

I thanked Eva as I got out of her car. I walked over to Kaeyi who was outside waiting for me.

"Heyo," I waved at her.

"Hi," she said happily.

"Let us go onward to adventure!" I said dramatically. She laughed and we started walking.

"So how's your day been?" I asked in attempt to clear the awkward air that seemed to linger.

"Pretty good. It involved a lot of kitty cuddles and Wildstar," she smiled. "You?"

"Not too shabby. Played some G-mod with Sips and crew," I shrugged.

"I bet that was... interesting," she said.

"To say the least," I giggled.

After about 5 minutes of walking and talking, we made to a nice little restaurant. We sat down at a table and continued chatting.

"Kaeyi, do you think I'm too hard to read?" I asked suddenly. "This question has been on my mind a lot recently."

"What do you mean?" she questioned.

"Okay maybe I didn't phrase that right," I quietly laughed. "I mean do you think I keep too much to myself?"

"Oh," she said. "Not really."

"I guess I'm not with you," I shrugged. "But I feel like I am with others."

"Really?"

  I nodded.

"Especially Alex," I sighed. "It kind of sucks."

"Then fix it," she said simply.

"Oh wow thanks," I said sarcastically.

"No, I'm serious," she laughed. "Just randomly list off a bunch of facts about yourself or something."

"Okay," I laughed. "I'll do that. I'm sure it won't end badly."

"Bye," I waved to Kaeyi as I got into Alex's car. I'd managed to get the guys to come by the restaurant after they got off work. I really need a licence... and a car. Geez...

"Okay, let's get this over with," I said as I buckled the safety belt. "Ask me questions. Anything pertaining to me."

"Uh, what?" Ross questioned, clearly confused.

"I wanna be more open with you guys so anything you want to know about me, I'll answer," I replied.

"Um, can you play an instrument?" Trott asked.

"Yes. I took piano lessons when I was 8 years old up until I left for England. So, for 16 years. Next!"

"Any other skills?" Alex asked.

"Uh yep. I'm not too shabby at art. I painted a couple of the things that are hanging in my apartment."

"Where were you born?" Ross asked.

"Pa-" I was cut off by Alex answering the question.

"Pasadena," Alex interrupted.

"Yessir, that's correct."

"Yay!" Alex cheered. "In your faces!"

"Aw," Trott pouted. "I knew that! Probably..."

"Sure you did," I joked. "Okay, next question please."

"Favorite animal?" Trott asked.

"Oh come on!" I exclaimed. "You guys are horrible at remembering things! The fennec fox is my favorite animal. I talk about it all the time!"

"Sorry we don't know everything about you," Ross said sarcastically. "Would you rather we did?"

"No that'd be creepy," I chuckled. "Okay fine. You're forgiven. Last question."

"Why is your boyfriend the best ever?" Alex asked.

"Pfft, as if!" I joked. "Everyone knows that you aren't the best ever. The best ever is Len-"

"Chris Trott!" Trott exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air in victory.

"Sure... why not," I giggled.

I walked into the apartment, the guys following me. Lucy was sat on the couch reading some book.

"Hey Lucy!" I greeted as I walked into the living room. She didn't look up from her book or say anything. She just waved absentmindedly in our general direction.

"Well okay then," Alex laughed as we all sat down. I sat next Alex and leaned my head against him.

"Yo Luce?" I addressed. No answer. "Lucy!"

She calmly put a bookmark in her book before looking up at me.

"What Lena?" she asked, giving me the evil eye.

"Be social for minute, will ya?"

"If I must," she sighed. Suddenly, a phone rang out. Trott pulled his phone from his pocket.

"Hello?" he answered. "Really? Will you be okay until I get there? Don't worry, I'm on my way right now."

He hung up the phone and proceeded toward the front door. I gave Alex a confused look which he returned. Okay, I'm getting to the bottom of this.

I stood from the couch and made my way outside. Trott was about to close the car door when I went over and grabbed it, keeping it from closing.

"Alright Trott, what's the deal?" I asked bluntly.

"Could you move your hand please. I need to go," he said hurriedly.

"No," I refused. "Not until you tell me why you are just up and leaving randomly."

"It's not my place. okay? Please move your hand."

"No, I wan-"

"Lena," he said sternly. So sternly, it almost scared me. "Please move your hand."

I slowly removed my hand from the car door and stepped away from the car. Trott slammed the door shut and began driving away. I watched the car speed away before going back inside.

"Did he tell you what's wrong?" Ross asked as I sat collapsed back into the seat next to Alex.

"Nope," I sighed. "He just acted really weird. Almost rude..."

"I'm worried about him," Lucy said.

"You and everyone else," I agreed.

"I'm sure he's fine," Alex said.

"I guess. I mean he wouldn't do..." I trailed off. "Oh my gosh! What if he's got a girlfriend and he's taking off to go see her?!"

"He better not be leading Kadie on!" Lucy said angrily. "I'll slap that son of b*tch!"

"Whoa whoa whoa," Ross intervened. "I think you guys need to calm down."

"Yeah, this is Trott we're talking about. He's not a total douche bag," Alex said.

"He better not be," I mumbled. We all sat in strange silence until my cell phone interrupted. I checked who was calling.

"Um I don't know this number," I said.

"Answer it and put on speaker," Lucy suggested. I did as she said.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hi," a male voice said from the phone. It was slightly familiar. "Is Lucy there?"

I looked over at Lucy. Her eyes went wide and her mouth dropped open. It was then I realized who was on the phone. Daniel.

"Uh no," I lied. I heard a cackle from the other end of the phone.

"Listen here, you d*mn b*tch," he spat. "I know I'm on speaker phone and she can hear me."

"Don't you dare talk to her that way," Alex said angrily.

"Shut your mouth, Brit boy! Go drink some tea!" he shouted. Okay, that was the worst attempt at an insult I've ever heard.

"That was the worst insult I've ever heard," Alex scoffed.

"Oh shut up and put that whore Lucy on the phone," Daniel said monotonously.

"Lucy isn't a whore, Daniel," I spat back.

"Oh this that twat Daniel who caused Lucy so much pain?" Ross asked angrily. He took the phone my hand. Oh this should be good. If there's one thing Ross is good at, it's shouting obscenities.

"Listen here, you piece of sh*t," Ross began as he stood. "You leave Lucy the f**k alone! You've done enough damage. She doesn't want to speak to you. You're nothing and you don't deserve her. Go eat a pile of sh*t, you f**king twat!"

With that he hung up. He sighed and tossed my phone back to me.

"Ross," Lucy whispered. Ross looked over at her. "Thank you... so much."

Lucy rushed over to him and hugged him. I could hear her crying as Ross pulled her closer.

"He's such a douche," she cried, still in Ross' arms. "I'm sorry you guys had to be part of that.

"Is that the kind of abuse you got when you were with him?" Alex asked sweetly.

  Lucy nodded.

"And worse," she added quietly.

"Did he physically hurt you?" Ross asked. Lucy pulled away from his embrace and looked to the floor. He made her look back up at him. "Lucy?"

"Once," she whispered. "But I really don't want to talk about it..."

"Okay," Ross said as he pulled her into a hug again.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"I didn't want you to worry," she sniffled.

"You should've let me know, Luce," I said kindly. "But that's in the past. Daniel can't hurt you anymore."

Lucy pulled away from Ross quickly. Tears started to form in her eyes as she spoke.

"What if he comes here for me?" she cried. "I can't let him hurt you guys!"

Ross put his hands on Lucy's shoulders.

"Lucy," Ross said calmly. "I'll never let him hurt you again."

"Yeah," Alex smiled. "If he tries, we'll kick his a*s."

Lucy laughed a little as she wiped tears from her eyes.

"What a great Loss moment, huh Lena?" Lucy joked.

"Hey there's the way-too-sarcastic-for-her-own-good Lucy we all know and love!" I smiled. I noticed Ross' smile grow when I said 'love'. Oh yes, a great Loss moment indeed.
