Round 3 Part 2
Write a poem suitable for children up to ten years of age, including the following things: rain — an apple — a bicycle
The day began quite cloudy
And the weather became rowdy
And pretty soon the sky was filled with rain
Little fingers pressed the glass
Wishing stormy clouds would pass
Peering through the blurry window pane
Gram and Grampa were expected
But they couldn't be detected
And unhappy little eyes began to tear
Mom tousled curly hair
Breathed a comforting, there, there
And promised Gram and Grampa would be here
A pretty birthday cake stood waiting
And the wait was aggravating
Then suddenly a knock came from outside
Gram and Grampa had arrived
Her anxious spirits were revived
And the gift was a bicycle she could ride
Pipaluks threat never matured
Children of earth had all endured
Xander and Nadia had one of their own
Zarah's heart was all a quiver
And mom and dad laughed at her shiver
Amazed at just how quickly she had grown
Happy parents sat and watched
Pleased the weather hadn't botched
As she mastered her new bike without a grapple
And when they said she'd had enough
She delayed in getting off
Until they lured her with a shiny big red apple
