Dead Hellfire (1)

The world may not understand me. In fact, it may hate and disdain myself as much as it wants, but as long as I'm still alive, not even the entire world is allowed to hurt those I favor and hold close to myself!
-Dead Hellfire, Mortem

Mortem raised a hand and knocked on the door several times, furrowing his brows when nobody answered. Yui shivered, the storm was already getting to her, not mentioning the fact that she got a little wet when a bucket of water was practically thrown onto her by the sky. Mortem didn't mind the cold, in fact, he liked it! So he took off the jacket that was tied around his hips and put it over the human girl, then knocking the door more harshly—mostly because he was getting irritated and partly because he didn't want the human to die freezing. Not like he was gonna say it though—and, basically, broke a hole into it... almost...

He watched as Yui quickly walked in and couldn't help but stare blankly at the hand that knocked on the door. He sighed after several seconds and thought to himself. 'Mom was right, I need to stabilize and establish more authority on my strength and abilities... not to mention that it was about to use fire without my permission.' He furrowed his brows yet again and let out a long sigh, following the human girl inside and not bothering to pay attention to the door that slammed itself close— and for the first time ever— actually observed Yui and what she looked like.

A short girl who looked like she was basically 11 or 12 with platinum blonde hair—a few hair accessories here and there— and vibrant, yet pale red eyes. Mortem just wondered whether Yui wore contact lenses or something, after all, humans with these eye colors are very... rare. He huffed when she tried to call an ambulance because a f*cking vampire of all things had no heartbeat... not that she would know he was a vampire actually... Mortem shook his head and pushed his long bangs behind his right ear, holding onto the knife he brought everywhere that was in his pocket.

He looked at the vampire and sneered at how much skin he was revealing. The guy looked to be around 18 or 19 with a head of messy red hair and vibrant yellowish-green eyes. The reason Mortem sneered was mostly because of how he wore his uniform... just looking at it made him want to rip the guy to pieces.

Yui was panicking. There was someone here who was presumably dead and nobody noticed. Only, she was stunned when that "dead person" suddenly groaned and complained. "Too noisy...," he grabbed her phone tried to get a grip on her wrist before she felt herself being pulled away by someone... 'Mortem...' a blush slowly appeared on her face, not from the cold.

"Ayato, if you want to do that then please do so in your private quarters." Mortem looked at the vampire—black and slightly messy hair and pinkish-red eyes—who had glasses on, wondering why he even did have them on. 'Don't vampires have super seeing of whatever it is?' The one called Ayato pouted. "Hmph! You're no fun, Reiji."

The one called Reiji simply indifferently looked at Yui and Mortem, then asked, "May I ask what you two are doing here?"

"I-I'm Yui Komori, my father sent me to-to live here...,"

"Dead Hellfire, call me Dead. Mother told me to stay here for a while."

Reiji went silent for a moment, eyes strange when Mortem told him to call him Dead of all things. He adjusted his spectacles and told them, "Let's go to a better room to discuss this." He then walked them to another room where Mortem and Yui were told to sit down on a couch. Now, you have to understand that Mortem isn't a huge fan of being told to do anything if it wasn't someone he favored. So he sat down on the armrest of the couch while provoking this "Reiji" with his eyes.

Reiji rolled his eyes at the deplorable manners and asked to air in particular. "So, does anyone know why these two are here?" Mortem felt the atmosphere turn weird when two boys—one looked like Ayato, only with neater hair and a fedora on, his eyes more narrow and another one with purple hair and pale purple eyes and was holding a teddy bear— decided to lick Yui's cheeks. He mouthed to her "hang in there" and silently watched everything unfold.

Ayato from earlier had come too, claiming Yui as his... Mortem was rather happy they weren't doing this to him. Not that something like this could actually happen considering how he would practically fight them to death if they tried...

Another one of the vampires appeared, Mortem dully noted as a vampire raged and hit the wall, making a crack there. He had pinkish-white hair concealing his right eye and an always frowning and angry face. His eyes were the same as Reiji's.

"That man said something about this...," an utterly lazy voice said, bringing all attention onto a blonde vampire with ocean blue eyes. He languidly stretched and seemed to have fallen asleep. Reiji frowned and asked. "Did that man contact you?"

"...hmm...someone from the church was sent... and something about treating her nicely... and then yesterday he said something about...," the blonde vampire paused and yawned. "A friend of his' son... staying for a while...and to treat him with... respect... and don't provoke him or whatever."

Reiji, who Mortem decided to nickname Glasses Guy, nodded and shortly after, introduced everyone. He pointed at the blonde vampire. "That's the eldest brother, Shuu." He then pointed at himself. "Second brother, Reiji."

He then pointed at Ayato, "Ayato," Then at the Ayato look alike with a fedora on, "Laito," and at the purple haired kid with a teddy. "Kanato." Then he pointed at the white haired, always-angry guy. "The youngest. Subaru. May you introduce yourselves?"

"Yui Komori!"

"Dead Hellfire. Call me Dead." Mortem ignored all the strange looks everyone gave him. Yui didn't know why he didn't ask them to call him Mortem instead of Dead but had a feeling it would be best not to ask. Shuu suddenly remembered that man telling him that Mortem will only tell them his real name if he likes or favors them enough... but didn't give a damn about it and stayed quiet. If Shuu had told the others about this, they would definitely strangle him or something... so he decided to keep quiet because he wanted to sleep. Such a good brother.

Mortem decided to be quiet again and listened as they droned on about a sacrificial bride and Yui rejecting a marriage or whatever... he suddenly piped up after she couldn't save her phone from the fate of being crushed in Ayato's hands. "Don't run. It'd be useless. Your father sent you here so he most likely was giving you away to these guys." Mortem never was a gentle person. Nor was he kind enough to not break others' red-tinted glasses of the world view.

Yui, however, couldn't accept such a thing. "N-no! Father would never do something like that...!" Mortem sighed and suddenly appeared behind her, lightly tapping the nape of her neck before catching and carrying her with his arms under her knees and back as she went unconscious. "...at least be a little merciful and let her be in peace before you all kill her. I'll take her to her room, no need for escorts." 'And I'm the one who's usually regarded as a being from hell! Damnit, I finally find that there are actually some beings who are even more merciless then the devil and less compassionate than demons!'

He reached her room in a matter of seconds and then tucked her in like a child, writing a note and placing it on the bedside table for when she wakes up. Mortem turned off the lights and let her stay unconscious until she naturally regains it, or else it wouldn't be too healthy...

Mortem was a compassionate person, even if he's rather cold hearted and arrogant at times. This was something he hated showing but a lot of what he does basically low-key screams "COMPASSION!". He just doesn't know it.

Meanwhile, with the Sakamaki brothers.

Everyone couldn't help but wonder who this "Dead" really was. What he really was. Wasn't a vampire, clearly. They felt rather strange.

Shuu felt rather incredulous. After all, that man had told him to not provoke that guy under any circumstances, and while he told the others just that, they wouldn't know how his tone and expression was at the time. Reiji felt like he needed to observe Dead and calculate this guy, in order to find out just what his weaknesses are. Ayato was just feeling lucky that he didn't make any moves against him. Laito just felt like he nearly escaped a life and death situation, mostly because he was planning on flirting with the guy earlier... Kanato was quietly talking to Teddy, discussing something the other's couldn't bother to listen. Subaru felt like the other was somewhat like him...

Regardless, all six of them, shortly after that whole thing, left to do whatever they did.

It seems that these two new guests will bring about a lot of changes.

Meanwhile, with Mortem.

"Mom. No."

"Mom, yes."

"I would greatly appreciate if you stop reading whatever a 'Yaoi Manga' is and stop getting such ideas, mother."

"Too bad. I just performed a divination and it said that you were going to have a really... busy love life."

"Wait, what. Mom, what did it sa—,"

"OK, sorry, gotta go, bye~!"

"Mo—ther—!" Mortem basically screamed when he was hung up by his mom. He then groaned and sighed, sitting cross-legged and straight on the bed while delving into a meditation state...

At night

Mortem was quickly awoken when he felt someone enter his room. He snapped his head to see who was it that disturbed him, only to calm down slightly when he saw the harmless Yui looking like she was about to cry. He sighed and opened his arms, like he was about to give her a hug. She dove right in.

'She's like a child... honestly.' Mortem felt bitter when he knew that someone had sent someone like Yui into a hellhole. She was too... childlike and naive. "Mortem...,"

"Hmm?"

"I... can I ever... escape...?"

"No. Mom wouldn't like me helping you either... I'll just make it so they won't... do it too much, OK? Just stay close to me."

"...mm... OK...,"

Mortem sent a glare out of the window, where a woman with long purple hair could be seen. 'That spirit wants her body... it seems to have planned this.' He sighed. 'Did she try to run away, only to end up in that room with a seal on it? How does that even happen?'

"I'll bring you back to your room. That Ayato and Laito are looking for you there. I'll keep you as safe as I am allowed to." Mortem walked Yui back to her room and waited until she was sound asleep before quietly entering another meditative state beside her, so no one bothered coming in until it was time for school.

Whoopee. Hurray. School.
